Avatar f tn I am at the moment weaning off epilim to go on to lamotrogine to get pregnant as I have been told that there is alot lesser rick during pregnancy to be on lamotrogine. I am just wondering what you think is a ok level during pregnancy, my neurologist has put ,e on 200mg twice a day??? Is that safe???
Avatar f tn I think they're confused. If you read the full prescribing information, it's the PILL that screws with the lamotrigine, not the other way around. It's not like a lot of other anticonvulsants. From http://epilepsy.med.nyu.edu/treatment/medications/lamotrigine "Lamotrigine has no effect on other seizure medicines. And unlike some other seizure medicines, it does not reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills.
Avatar n tn Nine patients with acute bipolar depression were simultaneously treated with a course of ECT while titrating lamotrigine for maintenance therapy. We compared mean stimulus intensity, mean seizure duration, and mean time to orientation after treatment for each patient during treatment with their highest and lowest lamotrigine dose. Results: All 9 patients were treated to remission. From the lowest daily dose to the highest daily dose, mean increase in lamotrigine was 102.8 mg.
Avatar f tn I am taking lamotrigine serquol and celexa. I had unprotected sex and he ejaculated inside me about 8 times all durinf my ovulation time. What are my chances of being preagnant?
Avatar n tn I´ve been taking 200 mg of lamotrigine for a while -about 3 years. But. My swinging moods along the year have not really changed. My doctor insists in the 200 mg. doses. I´m esceptic. Conclusion: I´m about to drop lamotrigine and start all over again. I´m a natural optimistic. Thanks for answering.
Avatar f tn My son is 25 and has seizure disorder. This past Thanksgiving, he had a total of 5 seizures over 24 hours necessitating a hospital visit and stay. They put him on a third seizure medication (Lamotrigine). I spoke with a neurologist at USF who didn't like that a 3rd medication was added before his previous two were maxed out--he was already on Keppra (max dosage) and Depakote (sprinkles--very low dose), so she titrated him up on the Depakote so we could get rid of the Lamotrigine.
Avatar f tn Only a few interactions between lamotrigine and other drugs have been identified. Lamotrigine increases the plasma level of carbamazepine and its metabolites. Carbamazepine lowers the concentration of lamotrigine in the blood. Valproate doubles the plasma level of lamotrigine, and the level of valproate is decreased by about 25% in people taking lamotrigine. Phenobarbital and primidone lower the plasma level of lamotrigine by about 40%.
1756969 tn?1332437163 ve been taking Lamotrigine for over a year. It caused no changes in my weight or appetite. And I swear by the medication.
Avatar f tn I take Depakote before i got pregnant and was taking prenatals just in case. Then when me and my husband found out i was pregnant, i was switched to Lamotrigine which is the safest for pregnant women with seizures. I know its really hard for us women with seizures now that we are carrying a life inside, we need to be extra careful. I understand you...
Avatar f tn Since being on lamotrigine I have had broken sleep and weird dreams- anyone else had this? ALso at the moment I'm waking in early hours with tingling/itching in my feet. I have tried alsorts to relive it- the best I have found is to get and ice pack from the freezer and put that on. I hope freezing my feet doesn't do any harm! I think I'm going to gradually come off the lamotrigine cos it hasn't made any difference to my symptoms anyway.
Avatar f tn Looking for people who can relate to my husband and have a similar story to tell? My husband has been on Lamotrigine for a while now. On 7/30/2019 the brand of his lamotrigine was changed by the pharmacy from Zydus to Unichem. I asked the pharmacy if this would cause an issue and they stated they were the same. However, 21 days after starting this new brand he had a grandmal seizure in our car. We are grateful he is alive and was not injured. In addition no one else was hurt or injured.
Avatar f tn Can anyone relate to my husband's story? My husband has been on Lamotrigine for a while now for seizures. However it can be used for bi-polar as well. Avatar f tn In about 2011 or so (i was like 17 I wanna say) I was perscribed Lamotrigine for bipolar disorder. Taking that medication seems to have been the stupidest thing I've ever done in my life. Or, the most coincidental occurance I've ever heard of. Just a week after tapering daily to the regular dose, I began to feel what I called "crippling anxiety". My doc hardly believed me when I said it and, get this, UPPED my dose of Lamotrigine.
Avatar m tn I'm a 21 year old female. I've been taking Lamotrigine since January 2011 and right now I take 200mg a day. I have multiple questions so I'll try to write it in the easiest way. I went to the beach from Thursday to Sunday. On both Thursday and Saturday we were so busy enjoying vacation that I forgot to take my meds on both those days. Yesterday (Wednesday) I spent a large part of the day crying and had a hard time pin pointing why I was so upset.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg, Lamotrigine 25 mg, Zyrtec, Levothyroxine 75mg, and Atenolol 50mg. I started Lamotrigine (lamictal generic) 2 weeks ago. On day 9, I developed severe diarrhea and cramps. It was slowed down with 1 pill of Immodium, but after 2 days I decided to eat a "regular" meal and got diarrhea again. So it's been on an off for 6 days, and this morning it was worse than it was the first day!
1310468 tn?1274863925 Lamotrigine and some other anti-convulsant medications are approved for maintenance treatment in bipolar I disorder, because they have something to do with altering the excitability threshold of certain neurons. We're not yet entirely sure how that helps to control mood instability in bipolar disorder, but they are proven to be very effective in this regard. The good thing about lamotrigine in particular is that it can also have an anti-depressant on top of the mood stabilization!
Avatar f tn i was just wanting to know if lamotrigine and quetiapine can cause sore throats I've been taking these meds for 4 days and I started getting sick after day 2
Avatar m tn I had about 10 depressive episodes in 2-3 years and they stopped completely when I started lamotrigine (well, apart from the one, but it was work related). You probably already know lamotrigine (Lamictal) works better for the depression side more than the manic side.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I've just found out I am pregnant and I have been taking Abilify (Aripirazole) and Lamictal (Lamotrigine) for the last year, against bipolar disorder, my doctor recommended to reduce it slowly and then stop it. He said that I have taken it so far wouldn't harm the baby. I am still very worried and wondered if anybody has any experience with this. Thank you!
Avatar f tn t just crazy I seemed to have a handle on things, I got married at 18 years old and we started ttc a few months later. I got pregnant the first month and my bipolar went off the deep in. I couldn't control my actions, my words, nothing... I ended up having a miscarriage. I seemed to level out and get back on track. It had put a huge damper on my marriage and it was hard to deal with because I couldn't center myself because at the time It was like an out of body experience.
Avatar f tn I have just been to see the neurologist and she has supplied me the names of these two medications Lamotrigine or topiramate, which i am to decide which one to use. I have done some research on these two medications mainly on there side effects. A decision will be made on this once I have been to have an EEG.
5544493 tn?1369608788 ve tried Abilify at age 12, not supposed to use it under age 18; so it did not exactly work right. Seroquel? Abilify again? Lamotrigine? Carbamazepine? Others or generics of any of them?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a first time pregnant mom to be at 35 and I have some complex med problems that require maintenance meds. I'm epileptic with a small brain tumor and taking Lamotrigine, which I know isn't great for the baby. But I'm low dose (200 mgs a day) and a seizure will most likely cause more injury to the baby than stopping. I also have an anxiety disorder and chronic pain due to a failed knee surgery a few years ago.
