Avatar m tn I had about 10 depressive episodes in 2-3 years and they stopped completely when I started lamotrigine (well, apart from the one, but it was work related). You probably already know lamotrigine (Lamictal) works better for the depression side more than the manic side.
Avatar f tn Lamotrigine has no effect on other seizure medicines. And unlike some other seizure medicines, it does not reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills." I was taking Altavera (also known as Portia and Nordette), and have just started Viorele (aka Mircette), but I started the Viorele yesterday, so I can't comment yet.
5544493 tn?1369608788 ve tried Abilify at age 12, not supposed to use it under age 18; so it did not exactly work right. Seroquel? Abilify again? Lamotrigine? Carbamazepine? Others or generics of any of them?
505907 tn?1258369340 I have a boring med question for anyone in the know - my pdoc says that with lithium at this low dose (600) I wouldn't need to have my blood tested for many years. Someone knowledgable here said that was a crock. I don't see how I can arrange these tests on my own (and ignorant) without my pdoc agreeing I need them. What do you think?
Avatar f tn Never worked for me but, it does for some so definitely worth a try.
Business woman2 I am starting the slimfast program tomorrow. My question is does it really work? I am also in a wheel chair..But i do get my legs walking 1 or 2 hours a day .
Avatar f tn Keep us posted to see how you're doing! If it works I'll try it when I'm close to my due date or over due..does it taste gross? Or does it just end up giving you a ton of gas??
Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of the generic, Lamotrigine but I have taken as much as 400mg. I have never had a problem with mania from it. However, lamotrigine works best in keeping depression away and does little in deterring mania. The mania you have been having may have nothing to do with lamotrigine but because it doesn't do anything for it when it comes on. Other mood stabilizers, like lithium and Depakote work well for mania. I would discuss the option of adding one of them to the lamotrigine.
9771234 tn?1405793808 I did it and it was right about me having a girl amd my hair dresser did it and it was right for her having a boy...
1310468 tn?1274863925 My psych has had me on it for years, and works in colaboration with my neuro so that I get double work out of it as it also works as a migraine medication. I take 150mg tabs 2x/day. Any time we try to drop back on my dose, I immediately get more unstable and we have to quickly up the dose again. I've found that anticonvulsants in general have *many* uses outside of the siezure prevention/control.
Avatar m tn How much were you taking and how long had you been taking it? There is a journal on tramadol with much information: go to MedHelp journals (bar at top of page) and look for "Tramadol and Ultram Recovery." It's amazing that doctors aren't more aware of the potential for addiction with tramadol.
Avatar f tn I have been taking lamotrigine now for 2 months gradually titrating the dose. It hasn't made any noticeable difference to my symptoms only giving me wierd dreams and broken sleep. Spoke to my neuro earlier this week he says if meds didn't work then my symptoms can't be related to seizure activity! I haven't had an EEG tho so don't know how he can tell this. I have had 2 MRI scans which have both been reported raising the possibility of a ganglioglioma.
Avatar m tn Hi again. Ok, I've been on prozac too.... I think that the lamotrigine is stronger as far as lethargy goes, I am on 200mg Lamotrigine at bedtime. I used to be on 400mg but doc said that 200mg would be effective.
Avatar f tn m trying to work out what caused mine, because it just gradually started over a few months for no reason and I've now had it for over a year and getting desperate! I noticed that one of the side effects of Lamotrigine is detrusor instability and urinary incontinence but I'm not sure if this would be a bit of a tenuous link? I take 150mg of Lamotrigine a day for bipolar disorder.
Avatar f tn Can anyone relate to my husband's story? My husband has been on Lamotrigine for a while now for seizures. However it can be used for bi-polar as well. On 7/30/2019 the brand of his lamotrigine was changed by the pharmacy from Zydus to Unichem. I asked the pharmacy if this would cause an issue and they stated they were the same. However, 21 days after starting this new brand he had a grandmal seizure in our car. We are grateful he is alive and was not injured.
Avatar f tn s also one of the safest for women in child-bearing age b/c it had less side affects for the baby but she would have to take folic acid w/ it. i dont know how old she is now but it might be helpful in that sense (she wouldnt have to worry as much about side affects from other seizure meds later in life) depending on how bad her seizures are (i know your waiting for your EEG results) it may be the best to be on meds. it may be hard to manager her seizures esp. if your not around.
Avatar f tn At the time of these occurances I thought it was just life. He just woke up having a bad day, his work load was making him tired, and he was itchy because the dogs had fleas. My husband said he felt different but didnt think of the meds being the cause and didnt say nothing because he was scared to worry me to much. Now we have an agreement that he tells me when he experiences off feelings.
Avatar f tn I really feel better mentally, no depression or pain, with lamotrigine, and I am so sad that I might have to give it up. I just saw my doctor yesterday and since it is February, she thinks that may be it is just a stomach virus... I need to live my life without having to pull over at gas station rest areas constantly! If this is caused by the lamotrigine, will I "adjust" and the diarrhea go away, or am I just really too sensitive to this medication?
