Avatar f tn I followed up with my family doctor 2 days later who evaluated me and decided to put me on Lexapro (10mg), and Klonopin (.5 mg). My question is, after i take the Lexapro (SSRI) in the morning along with 1 mg kilonopin, can i take xanax as well around 6 to 8 hours later if i feel i need it? Basically, can i mix Klonopin and Xanax if not taken at the same time? I also am told to take another 1 mg of Klonopin before bedtime to help me sleep, but it doesnt really work to well??
Avatar f tn Only a few interactions between lamotrigine and other drugs have been identified. Lamotrigine increases the plasma level of carbamazepine and its metabolites. Carbamazepine lowers the concentration of lamotrigine in the blood. Valproate doubles the plasma level of lamotrigine, and the level of valproate is decreased by about 25% in people taking lamotrigine. Phenobarbital and primidone lower the plasma level of lamotrigine by about 40%.
Avatar f tn Hey all, my name is Daniel and I'm 21 years young. In about 2011 or so (i was like 17 I wanna say) I was perscribed Lamotrigine for bipolar disorder. Taking that medication seems to have been the stupidest thing I've ever done in my life. Or, the most coincidental occurance I've ever heard of. Just a week after tapering daily to the regular dose, I began to feel what I called "crippling anxiety".
Avatar f tn I really feel better mentally, no depression or pain, with lamotrigine, and I am so sad that I might have to give it up. I just saw my doctor yesterday and since it is February, she thinks that may be it is just a stomach virus... I need to live my life without having to pull over at gas station rest areas constantly! If this is caused by the lamotrigine, will I "adjust" and the diarrhea go away, or am I just really too sensitive to this medication?
Avatar f tn m bipolar with psychosis and am currently tapering off of ziprasidone 80mg twice daily. I totally dropped my second dose along with lamotrigine, and Lexapro. So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night.
1220347 tn?1345428521 Hello. :) I suffer from bipolar type 2 and I'm taking lexapro 20mg, anti depressant, and lamictal (probably spelled it wrong) 100mg, mood stabilizer. Since I have started taking them, I have definately improved, however, I'm not satisfied.
Avatar f tn Your doctor will start you on low dose of lamotrigine and gradually increase your dose, not more than once every 1 to 2 weeks. You may be more likely to develop a serious rash if you take a higher starting dose or increase your dose faster than your doctor tells you that you should. Your first doses of medication may be packaged in a starter kit that will clearly show you the right amount of medication to take each day during the first 5 weeks of your treatment.
Avatar f tn hello im 28 years old and bipolar also type 2...... first of all you should not have been taken off all your meds with no replacement.... there are plenty of rxs out there that are safe for pregnant womenunder guidance of dr.
Avatar f tn My son is 25 and has seizure disorder. This past Thanksgiving, he had a total of 5 seizures over 24 hours necessitating a hospital visit and stay. They put him on a third seizure medication (Lamotrigine). I spoke with a neurologist at USF who didn't like that a 3rd medication was added before his previous two were maxed out--he was already on Keppra (max dosage) and Depakote (sprinkles--very low dose), so she titrated him up on the Depakote so we could get rid of the Lamotrigine.
Avatar f tn I am now 90 pounds heavier (I started gaining weight on the meds and continued after) and not even able to get pregnant (probably too heavy and getting off the meds messed up my system.) I want' to get pregnant which was fine with everyone two months ago before I got off my meds now everyone thinks I'm in need of major help and need to get my head straight. I just don't know what to do because after researching these meds I'm very scared to get pregnant on them.
Avatar f tn Our family is desperate to help our 14 year old daughter who has a conversion disorder accompanied by depression & severe anxiety. Her case seems to be unique for a number of reason that I can expand on if anyone out there needs more information. Our child has been doing very well once we finally found the medication Lexapro. She was a year into taking 30mg daily plus Clonepin (.25mg 2x daily) and doing very well. Recently, she started going down hill.
2080404 tn?1643113754 i've been diagnosed with Bipolar depression and Borderline Personality disorder with moods that shift daily, ranging from hypomania to severely depressed. about 10 years ago a doctor tried me on Lithium and it didn't seem to be having an effect so i was taken off it and that's the last medication i was taking until recently when my PCP put me on Trazodone for anxiety and insomnia.
1756969 tn?1332437163 I take lamotrigine - 200mg -- and it has worked well for me with no side effects. It is usually weight neutral meaning it doesn't affect your appetite. I have taken other mood stabilizers and didn't like the side effects - lithium, bad hand tremor, diarrhea, vomiting; depakote, hair loss, weight gain; seroquel, extreme sleepiness Do remember that this is my experience and yours may be different.
Avatar f tn I was also on epilim and was taken off because of the weight gain, im now on lamotrigine, at the begining I found this to really lift my mood but then it wasnt enough so I was added some other medication, cant remember the name, I was ok for months but now for some reason I have started to cycle again.
1756969 tn?1332437163 ve been taking Lamotrigine for over a year. It caused no changes in my weight or appetite. And I swear by the medication.
2176476 tn?1338605299 Here on our drug coverage you can apply for a special exemption that will cover medications not normally covered if the psychiatrist says it is needed. May be worth looking into. I am in Canada though and I know our systems are quite different. It seems very strange that risperadone is covered and seroquel is not as they are about the same price. I would perhaps double check and make sure it wasn't an error.
Avatar m tn did the psychiatrist ever refer you to a psychologist for CBT?
674607 tn?1240017232 Finally, eight years ago, I was put on medication--first for depression and then for BP2 (Lamotrigine, Effexor, Lithium, Risperdal, Clonazepam). Still, I am rarely symptom-free. On good days, I may feel only worried, incompetent, unworthy, and fatigued. On bad days, it's either depression, nasty hypomania, or a mixture of both. On and on it goes, medication and all, with rarely a break between.
Avatar f tn The study found five cases of oral clefts in infants in a study of 564 pregnancies (that is one in 113 cases) where the mother was taking lamotrigine and no other antiepileptic drugs. This is higher than the worldwide incidence which is one in 700." Overall, there are reports for and against Lamotrigine in pregnancy. The treatment has to be individualized for each patient. You will need a regular monitoring of the fetal growth.

Avatar f tn I am currently taking Lamotrigine, Prazosin, and Quetiapine. I have also been diagnosed with H. Pylori, I was wondering if I could take Prevacid with these other medications? I have tried everything else and this would be a last resort.
Avatar m tn I asked my neurologist about sleep and he told me to take the Lamotrigine 250x2 1 time/day. From my personal experience I would try the medications and keep a log of good or ill effects, for the first 30 days to adjust for half life and discuss them with the prescribing DR. If there are ill effects notify your DR immediately.
Avatar f tn Ugh i'm on Lamotrigine and I accidentally took a whole pill and not a half and the next-ish day I had this sore feeling in a part of my throat I couldn't pinpoint , it was weird. I have continuously felt like I was on the verge of getting sick...Hm. I've been really thirsty lately, too.
Avatar m tn I'm in the Uk and currently taking Quetiapine, Depakote and Lamotrigine. The Quetiapine for me was prescribed for rage and agitation, I don't feel any anti depressant properties from it, but it has saved my life. Lamotrigine was prescribed 7 weeks ago and I feel a lot better, I am doing things that I didn't think I'd ever feel I could do again. Nobody has ever specified what type of Bp I have, I have symptoms from across the spectrum, I have mixed episodes.
