Antivirals such as Entecavir (Baraclude), Telbivudine (Tyzeka), Tenofovir, Adefovir (Hepsera), lamivudine (Epivir-HBV) have less upfront side effects but their long term consequences hurt patients even more: possible lifetime dependency, resistence issue, cost burden, toxicity, possible link to neuropathy, nephropathy and cancer, etc. With all these consequences the cure rate is a miserable below 1%! That is why I choose to manage my chronic HBV with foods, herbs and adjusted life style.

Without taking any drugs, viral load was 22,000 in september 2009. 46,000 in december 2009. Doctor recommended lamivudine in January. Took lamivudine and by June 2010, viral load was undetected. have read in many forums that lam is not the best, approached my doctor with this concern and she sugessted tenofovir. Should i start tenofovir immediately, how should i start. Should i just abruptly stop lam and move on to tenofovir, should i use both and gradually stop lam after a few day/weeks.
Since then, I have been taking Zeffix (Lamivudine). Recently my doctor decided to put me on Viread (Tenofovir) instead. As I have read, some people are experiencing bone density loss due to Tenofovir therapy. I was examined by my first doctor and advice me that I am not qualified for medication but my employment requires to pass this Hepa B case so I look for another doctor that could give me something for medication.. The doctor and give me Lamivudine(Zeffix)..

Epivir=Lamivudine, said to be very safe for husband and wife who wish to have children. But do you have to choose Lamivudine as first-line treatment with its high resistance profile?

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) may still develop in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients treated with lamivudine. Whether HCC rates are comparable in patients treated with the current first-line antivirals remains uncertain. We estimated the incidence and evaluated predictors of HCC in a large nationwide prospective cohort (HepNet.Greece) of HBeAg-negative CHB patients treated with entecavir.
Now the thing you may want to be aware of is that Telbivudine has a higher rate of resistance, similar to Lamivudine. If Clevudine is similiar to Telbivudine in chemical structure, then...well you can make your own lay guess. So if I was in your shoes, I would be monitoring treatment response closely. And so far your response is good, if you could get to UND in under, say 12 weeks, that would be great and your risk for resistance would be lower.
But in short, seroconversion from HBeAg to HBeAb COULD be an endpoint of lamivudine treatment. But no guarantee.
After treatment HBV, I took lamivudine 100 mg/day DNA/HBV is negative since May 2008. Successive (check blood DNA HBV Every 3 months).
Now after I stopped using lamivudine 2 months
-DNA/HBV: 280,000 Copies = 2,8 x 5log10.
-SGOT : 140 ui
-SGPT : 300 ui
Should I take tenofovir 0,5 mg alone or plus lamivudine 100 mg ?
