Avatar m tn Recent studies have demonstrated the short- and long-term benefits of breastfeeding both for mothers and children. Breastfeeding, especially if exclusive and prolonged, leads to significant reduction in hospitalization rates for gastroenteritis, respiratory infections, and sepsis in the early months of life[18]. The benefits for low-resource countries are even greater because breastfeeding is related to better infant and childhood survival[19].
Avatar f tn Hello All, Forgive me if I'm posting this incorrectly. This is my first time. Unfortunately, I found out after I got pregnant that I am HBV positive. I am told that I have chronic HBV and probably got it from my mother. All of this is very new and scary to me, especially because I'm pregnant. I recently went to a liver specialist and she told me that my viral load is very high and my ALT is also high.
Avatar n tn I have been on Tenofovir during my pregnancy and breastfeeding and my baby is doing great!
Avatar m tn Doctor recommended lamivudine in January. Took lamivudine and by June 2010, viral load was undetected. have read in many forums that lam is not the best, approached my doctor with this concern and she sugessted tenofovir. Should i start tenofovir immediately, how should i start. Should i just abruptly stop lam and move on to tenofovir, should i use both and gradually stop lam after a few day/weeks. No other options here. Nigeria (Africa), so i cannot combo with other drugs.
Avatar f tn now my ALT is normal, HbeAg is negative Anti-HBe is negative and may DNA is below 6 units but my HbsAg is still positve and Anti-Hbs is negative. Can you please tell me what are the things to be done in order my HbsAg will become negative and my Anti-Hbs will become positive.is it true that REST is one thing am i going to do because i am always tired with my work.
Avatar m tn 5 year combo with interferon) and drop from couple of milions to 1000 copy and the children (lamivudine mono) clera the infection and seroconvert to HbsAb.
367100 tn?1330914725 Is there any woman who had hep B during pregnancy and took any special medication and have been given breastfeed to her baby and he is absolutely fine and healthy now. I asked this question to my OB/gyne but she wasnt sure.
Avatar m tn Just got back from the doctors. He said he placed me on lamivudine because I'm still breastfeeding and its the safest drug for both mother and child. He placed me on two months medication and my next appointment is in June when he change the medication.
Avatar m tn Hello Doc, am 28yrs Male from Africa Uganda,8 days ago i got sexually involved with a girl of 19yrs we used a condom for most of the intercourse but before i climaxed my condom broke at bottom tip, am not sure how long i lasted their in her virgina after my condom broke cos i was drunk but it was around 5 mins when i realized my penis head was not covered i did not continue sex stoped there and i did not cum cos i got scared right away ,then the following day i took her to test and she turned ou
Avatar m tn HBV DNA clearance was assessed using assays with different sensitivities to detect HBV DNA. Adefovir and lamivudine increased HBV DNA clearance at end of treatment versus placebo. Entecavir increased clearance versus lamivudine with inconsistent effect size. Lamivudine was less effective than adefovir in lamivudine-resistant patients and less effective than telbivudine in HBeAg-positive patients.
Avatar f tn Lamivudine is outdated and ur virus will multiply anyway someday due to resistance to it so best is change to tenofovir and also change ur doctor who even don't know in today's time lamivudine is not used.
Avatar m tn Good evening, I did stop lamivudine treatment around 3 weeks ago, and since a couple of days I feel a discomfort on my right body ribs. Is now around 5 months since I had the acute hepatitis B case. Last months test showed immunity developing, but I am worried if this could be a relapse. Is normal to still feel this pain or discomfort after 5 months? Can be related to stopping the treatment. Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn D Doctor advised me to use Lamivudine which I did. Two months ago i did the test again and it showed that I am positive. I was advised to do Liver scan and HBD DNA Viral Load. The scan showed that my Liver is ok. The viral load is 991. I want to try Liv. 52 and Liv. 52H. Has anyone used them before?
Avatar n tn once the lamivudine has been started it is difficult to discontinue it without changing it to another medication. it is possible that you have developed resistance and may need to check a viral level and if (+) be switched to another medication. Resistance is very common with lamivudine use. a CT scan or U/s should also be checked.
Avatar f tn lamivudine is outdated and weak, shift to tenofovir 300mg.
Avatar m tn Even when lamivudine was resumed, it did not stop the rise in ALT, which then down eventually, but the bilirubins did not. May be compensated cirrhosis patients should never stop therapy, and those on lamivudine should switch to a drug with a higher barrier to mutation?
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, in 2002 when your wife first started with Lamivudine, antiviral treatment was still somewhat new and probably didn't fully understand what resistance means (and sadly some still don't). And in 2002, Adefovir was approved for treating HepB. Lamivudine has has a poor resistance profile. We know that now but can't turn back the clock. Now, I am NOT a doctor. But I read that Telbivudine is okay to use during a pregnancy. So ask your wife doctor about that option.
Avatar m tn 1. I am HBV carrier, and I am also under treatment with taking lamivudine 100mg daily. Will this impact the result? Will lamivudine/HBV virus cause false negative? 2. Because I am taking lamivudine daily, will this cause the delay of seroconversion. I think the test was done about 18 months after events that I thought maybe risky. 3. My test is Combo TypeI/II antibody and p24 antigen QUAL CMIA. Is it reliable? 4. My HBV DNA level is sometimes undetectable, but sometime a few hundreds.
Avatar m tn lvd is not the first choice and it stops working after years of use due to the fact virus develpos resistance.
Avatar m tn you can use entecavir or any other antiviral after using lamivudine you have only tenofovir left that works, entecavir will create a monster mutant virus with other 4-8 or more mutations
Avatar n tn I understood from my family doctor (not a liver specialist) that Lamivudine has the least side effect and is the safest among other medicine types for husband and wife who wish to have children. And yes, I understand the "high resistance" issue, but given the pro and cons comparing to other medicine, it seems to me that is the best choice to start. Am I (and my doctor) correct?
Avatar n tn I was examined by my first doctor and advice me that I am not qualified for medication but my employment requires to pass this Hepa B case so I look for another doctor that could give me something for medication.. The doctor and give me Lamivudine(Zeffix).. My question is; Is there someone in this forum that had experience with this level of UI/ml that been cured and how long?.. My employeer is waiting for my respond but I cant give them exact or approximate date when will cured..
Avatar m tn I guess fatty food is the cause of ALT elevation. I said NO to alchol long ago. I will have to pay attention to what i eat , work-out a little more and see if the numbers will go down. I have taken note of your suggestion to try interferon. I will discuss that with the doc. on my next appointment. Lamivudine like you said would be a last choice. I did some research and concluded that wouldn't be a wise choice. Hope you're doing great?
