Avatar f tn How does it fell if you stand on that leg only, and twist your upper leg, while lower leg stays straight? Could be a meniscus tear. But, it could just be a contusion.
Avatar n tn My right leg bends inward towards my left leg all the time, sitting, walking or standing. I cannot keep my right knee straight if I try that my right leg will collapse and I fall down. Your comments and suggestions are appreciated.
Avatar f tn Both my knees click, you can feel grinding when touching the kneecap, and the pain is usually under the kneecap on the inside of the knee. The pain is worse while bending the knee joint. Keeping it straight helps, but does not stop the pain. I've had x-rays and ct scans, revealing that my cartilage is fine, and my tendons are fine. Next step is an MRI. So what could be causing this long term cronic pain? Inflammation is common, and the area gets hot. My hips also suffer.
Avatar f tn It throbbs when I am sat down, and if i move my knee left or right whilst my foot is on the floor I get a very sharp shooting pain which makes me jump. also if i raise my leg out straight and then bring it towards me the sharp pain happens when my leg is at a 90 degree angle or less. The only history I have with joint problems was when I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis 5 years ago, which I experienced Arthritis pain in all my joints.
Avatar f tn I dislocated my knee cap badly a few weeks ago while i was on holiday. I was told by the specialist that i have snapped the ligaments and my leg was to be in a cast from thigh to ankle for 6 weeks before physio started if the ligaments healed, if they didnt heal i would need surgery to put fake ones in. When i got home the cast had slipped and i hadnt got the notes sent through so i went up to A & E to see what they said and they have changed me to a leg brace.
Avatar f tn 4 days post-op - been doing walking, exercises 2x/day, using ice machine a lot, keeping leg up or straight most of time, but now have red, angry looking, black/blue, somewhat warmer to touch coloring on upper leg and knee. Only pain is from the swelling when I put leg down to stand up. Is this normal? How long for leg to be less swollen?
Avatar f tn Hello, I've just started having pain on the outside of my right knee I was playing boo with my son when I first felt a sharp pain, over the week each time I kneel down I feel a hard throbbing pain, when rubbed it throbs and also when bent, when the leg is straight it's fine! My knee clicks now and again and when I feel the knee cap it feels like it's grinding, does anyone have any ideas what this could be, my partner seems to think it could be my cartilage!
Avatar n tn What would cause a pain that runs down outside of leg from a little below the hip to below the knee? It happens more often when sitting or laying down, if I do not keep the leg straight. It even wakes me up from sleep if I bend the leg. I would describe it has very uncomfortable, frustrating and it just plain hurts. My doctor took x=rays of knee which were normal and gave me shot in knee which didn't help.
Avatar n tn Since my knees are constantly rubbing together, the chafe easilly. I am also experiencing knee pain. Is there a sugery that can correct this and straighten my legs?
Avatar m tn I am a runner and a soccer player with no history of knee issues. I am 5'11" 175 lbs. 32 years old. I have been active all my life. 4 1/2 years ago I suffered an injury while coaching soccer. My toes on the right foot got caught in a net during a swing of my leg causing them to point directly outward. Something in my knee gave. I was unable to walk for days, unable to do fully support my weight on that leg for months.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago I had an accident, I feel off a Quattrocycle and the wheel ran over my ankle twisting my leg. Bruising came out straight away and a little swelling, I rested leg for a few days and continued walking with a little pain thereafter .
Avatar n tn there is no definitive test for fibro - they do tests to rule out other diseases - is the pain in your knee or on the outside of the leg at your knee or the inside of the leg near your knee and have they checked for osteoarthritis - you said behind the knee - do you mean behind the patella (knee cap) or at the back of your leg behind the knee - try to be very precise when telling the doctor where exactly the pain is coming from - i dont know much about ms but i know pain comes with it - i belie
Avatar n tn Thanks so much for your reply and your very easy-to-understand explanations. My pain when bending my knee is in the back of my leg (behind the knee I guess you could say) in my left leg and the groin pain is on the right side - what do you think about that?
Avatar m tn I was 15 days without an attack. I had one jolt in a swimming pool this morning. My MRI had showed nothing but common age-related ailments around my knee . . . nothing that would cause electric-shock like pain. I do have a small Baker's cyst but was told that they are no longer removed because they come back. Yesterday all day I had lower back (below the waist) pain and feeling of swelling around my knee. I'm realizing that the lower back pain is often a precursor to knee attacks.
Avatar m tn I can sit without pain I can stand without pain,I can bend my leg without pain, I can do straight leg lifts without pain. It is just walking that causes the pain and burning. Avatar m tn - I have undergone ACL reconstruction surgery of right knee on 21st May,2010. Even after my surgery I feel pain when I bend my knee or when I walk. The pain is distributed over the entire crossection of the knee. But recently on 12th feb,2012 my right knee has started paining again. I am not able to walk. Even if I try to walk, I feel instability. My leg becomes stiff when I keep it straight for around 30 min.
Avatar f tn So lately I've been having some pretty bad knee pain. It usually only happens at night or in the mornings though. I sleep on my right side mostly and my right knee hurts the most. But whenever it starts hurting if I turn over onto my back and make a "4" with my right leg the pain stops. Anyone experiencing this? I've also noticed the socket in my right ankle hurts a lot too.
1306931 tn?1273540199 All I can suggest is that I take Nsaids like voltaren and it helps me with the arthritis in my knee. I also wear a knee brace when I walk or do any kind of physical activity. My knee makes a lot of crunching noises and sometimes its painful, but at least I can walk now. But yes you would need to call your orthopedic on your knee.
Avatar f tn t fully extend my knee. The sweeping and pain is in the back on my knee. Every morning I usually extend my knees and crack them but now I can't to the hurt one everytime I try to extend it it feels like too much pressure and it's gonna snap. What should I do?
Avatar f tn push your ankle down and up keeping your leg straight and repeat this to decrease the pain and symptoms. Also do sidewise movements at the ankle joint. Perform these exercises while resting. If you continue having ankle problems you should ask your orthopedician for an examination. Take care!
Avatar f tn The same muscle (quadriceps) that causes the knee to be straight (extend) causes the hip to bend (flex). When in a long leg cast, it’s only the movement at the knee joint that would not be possible to evaluate; however the ability to raise the leg when straight/ flex the hip can be tested, to evaluate the function of the muscle/ tendon. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn Taking Ibprophen for pain is good (take it with food and follow the directions on the lable) do not take it if you have a history of stomach ulcers. Doing straight leg raises is a great idea do them laying on your stomach, sitting with your legs straight out, and laying on each side. Also just sitting with your legs out straight in front of you and flexing both quads and holding the contraction for 10 seconds and repeating the exercise 5 times or so is good too.
