Avatar f tn Long story short, I've had knee pain since the end of last oct. I had a mri that showed a meniscus tear, a bakers cyst and some fluid. My dr. said they could all be normal and to do pt. in the end my knee never got better. and later got worse. I had a new mri which i have pics up. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. btw. my symptoms are sharp stabbing pain on the left side of my right knee.
Avatar n tn now it has moved to my right side.the pain is now behind my knees, leg area..i have no idea what to do..the pain is the worst when doing steps up and down or just daily walking..gets very irriatated in upper rear calves in both legs..if i were to trip over the smallest thing and my legs were to bend back to a certain point the pain is horrible..also have a feeling of fullness, pressure in the knee area..
Avatar m tn He told me to do leg presses and extensions to build up my quads. Unfortunately, this only aggravated my knee more and did not return for over a year due to financial difficulty. A month ago, I returned and he gave me a cortisone shot. It did not get rid of the irritation completely but it seemed to shorten the duration of symptoms. In the meantime, I have been going to physical therapy.
358594 tn?1211255129 Reconstruction of the ACL is recommended,if instability continues even after leg strength and knee motion has returned. In serious knee injury, do not attempt to move the joint. A splint should be used to keep the knee straight .Take complete rest as your right ankle is injured and do not put weight on your injured knee. Best .
Avatar m tn Ugh, that's a long time to have bursitis. I have, however, heard of it taking up to a year to get fully better. You should be at that point, right? hope so! What do you do to treat the bursitis (or did you do)? I know it is not feasible for everyone but a physical therapist would be great to see as they can help guide you on what types of exercise are best for your personal situation. But either way, stretching is important for all with bursitis no matter its location.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am experiencing a noise from my knee every time I walk up stairs or hills. I've been doing some hill work lately and the noise is really starting to get to me. I don't think I had any pain or swelling (but now that I'm worried I feel it may be hurting a little. I'm not sure if this is real or perceived.). It is only in my right knee. Earlier today I felt that it was giving way but this felt minor.
Avatar m tn I have had knee pain since I was a kid. I am 20, and I have been a swimmer up until last year. I believe it may come down to more than one cause, but I will leave that up to the professionals to decide. Bascially, I have alot of pain around my pattella when squatting past 30 degrees. I believe it is in part due to patellar mistracking. I have been working on flexibility in my hamstrings and quads, as well as strengthening my VMO, since it is weaker than the outer quad muscles.
Avatar f tn Maybe someone can help me. For the past four months I have been experience really severe pain in my lower right leg. I have had shin splints before. I did the anti inflammatories, icing, rest, return to running slowly... etc. The pain persisted. The pain hurts when I run for longer than 5 minutes and hurts the duration of the run, and continues hurting the whole day. I had a bone scan and MRI done.

Avatar f tn Its been 4 weeks and my knee still hurts. The pain got a little better for a week, but then went back to hurting pretty bad. Its almost enough to keep me from sleeping. I am not sure if I want to go back in to the OS or not. Has anyone had this and just had go away on its own? I believe he will want to do a scope and I'm not sure how major a thing that is since I am about to head off to college. I would really like some advice. Tell me anything related to this.
Avatar f tn But now, as of a few weeks ago, a different knee pain has occurred. The other pain behind the knee was gone (I had all of the symptoms of an ACL tear, but an MRI said nothing was wrong other than the previous damage from the MVA). Now the knee pain is so bad that I can barely walk, and have to walk keeping my leg straight, because it hurts so bad to lift it. And five days ago, now if I sit for too long, I can't straighten my leg again.
1306931 tn?1273540199 I decided to participate in a trial clinical study for a new drug to help with osteoarthritus, as I already have osteoporis at 45 yrs old. After the third set of very painful neurology tests and also giving a biopsy sample from my lower leg (above the ankle) I have been experiencing a lot of pain, tingling and discomfort. It seems to have caused a flare up in my knee, but it seems the side affects should have subsided since it's been over 2 months since the testing.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Osteo arthritis and my right knee is bone on bone - however I seem to have severe leg problems even though my knee rarely hurts. Also my lower pain constantly hurts. I can not walk a half block nor stand for more than 5 minutes, my legs burn and ache constantly and I have no leg strength. No one else I know has these problems with the arthritis - aches and pains yes - but they can walk - I can barely walk and it hurts to do so. No pain medications even ease the pain.
Avatar n tn Would any one please guide me what kind of pain i have, when ever i bend down my knee there is short poping sound from knee, butt there is no pain, and whenever i run or slide stairs then i feel pain in exect behind the knee and also some low back pain at at same side where the problem of leg.
Avatar n tn m trying to training the Quads, (as the last doctor told me) with some Leg extensions with a couple of Ankle weights, but everytime i lift my knee, it cracks and pops. How should i proceed?
Avatar f tn I have femoral nerve damage the doctor says the nerve was stretched. This happened in July of last year & I had MRI, EMG/NCT etc done. At first I had a hard time walking and getting up, but now I can lift up my leg while laying down & I can kick my leg out almost straight while sitting down. I have severe quad atrophy & the doc says it will be about a year for the nerve to heal at 1inch per month.
Avatar n tn I have pain behind my knee and my leg is swollen in the calf. I was checked for blood clot and it was negative. I feel heat coming out of my knee when I place an ice pack on it. It warms the ice pack quickly. My thigh is swollen too, but all the pain is in my knee. It hurts to touch the bones in my knee. My ankles are a little swollen and also the calf on the other leg. I have had a meniscus tear and arthritis in one knee and baker's cyst in the other.
Avatar f tn Leg exercises like heavy squats, leg presses and leg extensions will likely have to be avoided, but you can still get a good calorie burn with others. The bench press, shoulder press, rowing movements, biceps and triceps exercises and abdominal work helps to build lean muscle, which helps burn fat. Set up a series of exercises in a circuit to increase the calorie burn even more.
Avatar f tn The MCL is intact. LATERAL COMPARTMENT: Allowing for motion artifact, there is fraying to the lateral meniscal posterior horn free edge, and the posterior root is diminutive. Superficial chondral fibrillation is present at the posterior meniscal surface of the tibial plateau without subchondral remodeling. Intact lateral collateral ligament complex and structures of the posterolateral corner. INTERCONDYLAR NOTCH: The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing joint pain, muscle pain, cramping, swelling and stiffness in my left leg for over a month - in my knee, behind my knee and in my calf. It is worse at end of day. It often feels as if my leg won't support me when I stand from a sitting position. I do not recall injuring my leg. I have tried heat & ice packs and massage - all of which offer some temporary relief.
Avatar m tn I have a lot of pain behind my left knee & my left leg calf has a lot of pressure in it. It feels like it wants to burst. I have been taking therapy but isn't working. With two hips replaced & degenerated discs I'm getting to hate pain. I was doing good after hips replaced but know this pain has come in. What could be causing this pain.
Avatar f tn What helps me is if I put my left foot and my right leg by the knee. Put your elbow on the left knee put just a bit of pressure down on it ever so often for about 30 to 45 minutes before bed. I do this to both leg every night and I haven't had any issues since I started doing this.
1292438 tn?1276120904 Physiologists at the Mayo Clinic determined that leg extensions place significantly more stress on your knees than squats. Why? Because the resistance is placed near your ankles, which leads to high amounts of torque being applied to your knee joint every time you lower the weight. What’s more, Auburn University scientists found that people who squat long-term have tighter, stronger knee ligaments than those who don’t squat at all.
Avatar f tn QUITE A FEW MONTHS AGO I STARTED GETTING ACHES IN BOTH LEGS, I PUT IT DOWN TO THE MENOPAUSE, ANYWAY 6 WEEKS AGO THE PAINS SEEMED TO BE GETTING WORSE I HOPED IT WOULD GO AWAY, 3 WEEKS AGO I NOTICED MY LEFT KNEE WAS PAINFUL AND SWOLLEN, MY DOCTOR SENT ME FOR AN XRAY I HAD GOT MODERATE OSTEOARTHRITIS OF MY KNEE, UNFORTUNATELY AT THE MOMENT I HAVE TO HOLD ONTO SOMETHING TO GET UP OUT OF A CHAIR AND A STRUGGLE TO CLIMB STAIRS, WHILST SITTING I GET PAIN IN OTHER LEG I AM ONLY 55 BUT I FEEL ABOUT 70, I
Avatar f tn During one of my games i went and set a pick on this girl, anyways i did it right but in the end she hit my leg and let a bruise from my knee down until where my ankle started. It has been two months and the bruise is gone but there is still a tiny little pump. You can barely notice until someone or something touches it and when they touch it, it still friggin hurts. So i was wondering should i go to the doctors or just let it do its thing?
