Avatar f tn I do have small stones in both kidneys but my left kidney never seems to cause me pain. If it's not the stones causing the pain what else should I have my doctors looking for? Thanks for any help any of you can give me.
Avatar f tn However, the pain never vanishes and never becomes very sharp but continues troubling me always. I donot trust that this pain can be of stones as usually what I have heard and read is that stones causes too severe pains that are intermittent. Please suggest which other tests I should take and what this could be..can this be a gastric problem. Any idea would be helpful.
Avatar n tn Hello, Nephrolithiasis or stones in kidneys does not cause dizziness but if you are taking any drug for kidney stones, it can be responsible for the kidney stones. You need to consult a physician and get the other causes of dizziness like postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position), internal ear problems and cervical spondylitis or compression of cervical spinal nerves ruled out.
Avatar f tn And the er doc told me that when kidney stones are in the kidney they do not causes pain if this is the case then why am I in pain? Thank you for any help.

Avatar m tn I was told y the doctors a couple days ago that i have a kidney stone. The pain was sevre for the first couple of day but now it has began to die down a bit. Though now i hsve been experienceing the urge to urinate all the time but when i go to the bathroom only a little comes out. What exactly does that mean?
Avatar f tn Was advised some pain killers and after about 1 week of excessive fluid intake, i passed out another stone. Does this indicate formation of more such stones? What is the probablity of developing kidney related chronic issues? Any preventive steps that can be taken?
895634 tn?1283992810 Kidney stone often is hereditary so you should ask if any relatives also had kidney stones. Taking pain killers for the pain is not the proper treatment for kidney stones. Taking a pain killer to avoid the pain is not good medicine. It is masking the underlying condition which can be a serious one. A hepatologist is not an expert in kidney disease. They should refer you to a Urologist. A Urologist specializes in diseases and conditions of the kidneys and urinary track.
Avatar f tn Peeing out the stone didnt hurt much compared to the extreme pain of the stone traveling out of the kidney itself. Also, find out if he drinks alot of carbonated soda (like coke) or maybe does he drink alot of milk? Those can cause stones to form. Cut back on the intake and that should help too.
1226479 tn?1267209290 Hello, Presence of blood in urine is called hematuria. Causes include lesions of the urinary tract, disease of the prostate, trauma, tumors, malaria or stones in the urinary tract. In your case as kidney stones are present, so these definitely need evaluation as nephrolithiasis or kidney stones are known to cause hematuria. Moreover it can cause further complications. My sincere advice would be to consult a urologist. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
Avatar f tn If you have never had a kidney stone, then there is no way that you will ever understand the kind of pain it causes. I can't even imagine going through that as a child. The throwing up is more than likely from the pain. Every single stone I have had has ended me up in the emergency room. The first stone I had, I literally thought I was dying,I had never really heard about them before.
472139 tn?1211336163 hi everyone i was in the ER last night all day because of kidney stones, ive never felt so ill in my life thankgod i didnt taper down on methadone, they gave me like 5 shots of fentyle or something lasts 1/2hr each time..... methadone doesnt play a roll in them does it?
Avatar f tn He has theorized that I’m making stones because of infection in the kidney (I have a history of chronic UTI’s, but all of my cultures in the last year have come back negative), a condition like RTA, or my kidneys began hyperfiltrating due to pregnancy. Do these causes sound reasonable? What other tests should I be asking for? How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger?
Avatar m tn I'm not a big fan of chronic pain. I do realize that bloating and water retention is not a symptom of stones, however, i'm hoping that this is the case for me. I'm tired of trying to figure out what's wrong with me. I've had this stone for quite a while now, seems doctors are too busy to listen to their patients, they seem to attribute everything to depression and menapause.
Avatar n tn Renal CT scan showed 1 mm stone in right kidney, 2 even smaller stones in left kidney. Was given hydrocodone for pain and phenagren in case pain meds cause nausea and told to see a urologist asap. My question is, if the stones are still in my kidneys how can they be causing all the lower abdominal pain and pressure. This pain is worse after I walk much, and when my bladder is getting full before I urinate. Urination does NOT hurt though. I have had no fever at all.
Avatar n tn I have had soft stool, sometimes watery for about a month now. I am also having pain on my right side. It started under my rib in the front and is now on the actual side and sometimes radiating up the back. My doctor sent me in to have an ultrasound of my abdomen. 4 years ago I had one and they found polyps in my gallbladder. In this ultrasound, they were still there. However, he also ordered an abdominal x-ray and found calcifications.
Avatar n tn Pain that I am having - it is the same pain that have when I have had infections and when I have stones which is why I went to my reg doctor and they found all of this so how can it not be from the stones even though they are still in the kidney? What causes multiple stones in both kidneys? I did have ionized calcuim and PTH blood work done again - not sure they tested it in the time frame needed but it came back normal.
18533109 tn?1465644152 so infar take we can't say that urine infection can be cause of kidney stone however it may be possible that urine can be causes of kidney disease bt not kidney stones
Avatar f tn Am waiting for an ultrasound to determine whether I have a kidney stone or fibroidsa(due to occasional spotting after intercourse), however the last couple of days the abdominal pain has worsened and I now have an ammonia-like smell in my urine. Could the original thought of kidney stones be the right one?? I can't see where fibroids would affect the smell of my urine. There is no pain with the urination or discolor to the urine. Still have the back pain as well.
Avatar n tn Also have extensive stones in in left and right Kidney Also had a UTI ..The E.R. gave me pain meds and sent me home telling me to call a urologist in the next 2 days .I called in the am ...The Urologist gave me Flomax and more pain meds and then scheduled me for ESWL in 8 weeks !!!...and said I can probably pass the stone myself .He also gave me a 30 day supply of antibiotics .I also have Von Willerbrands disease Type 1 .My question is ..can I actually pass a 6mm stone ?
Avatar n tn Since then Ive had steadily increasing EXTREME fatigue and pain (though not as strong of pain as friday), nausea, low fever and very severe "brain fog"... While I've had abdominal pain and slowly increasing fatigue for the last two years, it's never been this bad, and the usual suspects for that kind of thing didn't check out when I saw my GP. The doctor at the ER said it could be a kidney infection, but it didnt look like there was enough blood for it...
Avatar n tn I am sorry for what you went through. Wish I had been on last year when you posted this, not that I could've helped, just that I know how horrible you felt. I can't believe they didn't give you any pain meds!! I was given percocet, demerol, & mepergan fortis which I was of course hesitant to take bc of the baby (my now 8 yo son), but the doc said being in extreme pain was way worse for him and me than taking the pills.
Avatar n tn recently the problem has become much worse and I have been told I have 2 kidney stones in My left kidney. I had some blood in the urine and pain as well, and may have in fact passed a stone. My concern right now is the frequent urination. Can the 2 remaining stones in the kidney still be causing the urination problem if they are not moveing down the ureter? If the stones are contributing to this problem , would a medication such as Detrol help? Please advise.
Avatar m tn A CT scan of the abdomen is the definitive test for stones.
Avatar f tn I had an ultrasound, catscan and x-ray done. Also blood test and urine tests. The doctors say it may be kidney stones that they can't see, or it may be a stone that passed which caused swelling of the kidney and the ureter. Someone told me that the swelling may be caused by "parasites" ... Is this true? Please help.
Avatar f tn Anyone suffer from kidney or gull stones in 3rd trimester what did u do to treat how bad was it did u still work?
Avatar n tn The size, configuration, and location affect the spontaneous passage of these stones. However, these may recur. There are different of types of kidney stones and calcium oxalate is the most common stone that forms. To prevent them from forming regularly, drink plenty of water and have a proper diet. Take care and best regards.
Avatar n tn After about an hour or two I began shaking uncontrollably, by that time i was lieing in my bed with a blanket on, I couldn't manage to get warm. I went to sleep rather early due to this, despite the fair amount of pain I didn't have much trouble getting to sleep. Woke up to urinate later, the pain had subsided, the shaking and feverish symptoms subsided, i could feel on my sheets that I had been sweating quite a bit in my sleep.
