Avatar m tn I'm figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar m tn calcium oxalate stones, struvite stones, uric acid stones or cystine stones. Potassium citrate is used for the treatment of stones. I would suggest you to get an evaluation done from a urologist to determine the type of stone. Treatment modes include Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithrotripsy (ESWL), uteroscopic stone removal and percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Since ESWL was not successful, the other two treatment options can be considered. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Just sharing some info that I got from another forum. Lemon juice, olive oil, and chanca piedra are the most common remedies to flush out kidney stones. You can Google them for more information.

Avatar f tn Hunny you've got to get help. There's lithotripsy, diets, and other options IF..... kidney stones are the real issue here. And based on how much you've Been taking, I'm intrigued as to how you don't suffer debilitating withdrawals for 13 days? Have you had an x ray done recently? Cheaper then CT scans. Ultrasound? Stones typically take lots of time to form. Have you had your thyroid checked? Calcium levels? Are u taking tums?

Avatar n tn I went to the er and a ct scan showed a 3 cm cyst on my left ovary in addition to revealing the stones (right kidney). I am bloated and aching, and my back and entire abdomen hurts. It's been over a week and half...I am on an antibiotic as well as percocet as it is the only drug that takes the edge off. My question is, how much longer will it take for the stones to pass? Any home remedies for pain and to get these stones on their way? Could these symptoms be something else?
Avatar m tn Hello, i am a 20 year old student and recently found that i have two kidney stones. I believe they have both moved from my kidney to my bladder and was wondering how long it takes to pass them through my urine once they are already in my bladder. These stones are 1mm and 2mm and also i was wondering to what extent the pain is going to be when i pass them?
Avatar n tn I've had shortness of breath which I think is from the cosopt. No appetite which is from the diamox and lately kidney pain (i.e. stones) from the pilocarpine. I don't want to be on this stuff much longer but I would also like to avoid surgery. The docs are just trying to buy me time to see if the effects of the steroid shot wear off and the plumbing in my eye starts working again. I'm also taking ALA, vitamin C, fish oil and doing some cardio whenever I can.
Avatar m tn I passed my stools but with lots of sweating and pain. I looked me in mirror and saw my self sweating and felt like vomiting and severe heaviness in chest. I rushed to the room and set for a while but no improvement. It was 2'oclock night. I asked help to one of my colleague and was taken to nearby hospital. They given me painkillers and pain subsided and got the discharge. At home pain started again but this time on right kidney side and I had another visit to hospital.
Avatar m tn Is my stone stuck in one place or does the blood in my urine mean its slowly moving and just scraping the uretha as it works its way down? Do any of the home remedies for passing a kidney stone really work or are they, as I suspect, a load of crap? Also, I have no medical insurance or means to pay for add'l trips to the hospital, I still haven't paid for the last trip, so unless or until it becomes life threatening going to the Doctor is not feasible. Thanks for any tips.
Avatar f tn I was always told how uncommon it was for a girl my age (first stones were at age 19,I am now 27) to have kidney stones and also plus because I am a woman and women don't tend to get them. I was never ever offered any help even after asking for advice from many doctors on what should I do?? I have had kidney stones at least 3-4 Times a year. But this past month I have passed 10 stones so far and counting. Each time at the ER I am prescribed pain meds and anti nausea pills and sent home.
Avatar f tn In reading many articles, I have also found that various and numerous physicians state that neither will do any good with regard to kidney stones. I guess if it works for you then it is good and if it doesn't work, it's definitely not that good. As I said, for me neither one has any positive affects but neither one can hurt you either so I can't see where it would hurt anyone to try one or both of those, in moderation of course.
Avatar f tn In addition the therapy for renal stones depends on the size, the location and the kidney functions. Please consult your primary care physician who will do blood tests, x- rays and may ask for an ultrasonogram to find out the cause for stone formation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have had kidney stones for about 5 years and I have been to the ER and doctors at times due to intense pain that at times cripples me because im not able to move. The doctors say that the stones are about 2mm and will eventually pass but I still have them after 5 years. I was prescribed vicodin for the pain but those have huge side effects on me. I suggest to them about having surgery either laser or the sonar that breaks them up but they say no.

Avatar m tn I got severe stomach pain on jan 24 and next day the scanning result is that i got 2 small calculi in right kidney and hydronephrosis of left kidney with uretric caliculas. i was prescribed kmac syrup(potassium citrate & magnesium citrate oral solution), brakke (ofloxacin and ornidazole) tablets , hifenac spas(aceclofenac and drotaverine hydrochloride tablets) taking which i suffered constipation severely then i guessed may be the side effects of above drugs. i took them day after day.

Avatar m tn My daughter since her pregnancy 5 years ago gets kidney stones and for the last year they are getting more and more frequent and now are about once a month and are getting bigger and unable to pass. She also has major back problems and is in need of (2) back surgeries but cannot get them done because her kidney functions are too low. She is only 25 years old. So she is not able to work and has TennCare for her health insurance. She has a stone right now that is 8.3 mm and too big to pass.
Avatar n tn Is your mother a Christian? If so, what a nice way to go, IF she were to go on the operating table because God called her home... unconscious and feeling no pain! On the other hand, if she chooses to do nothing, she may be opting for a Prolonged painful ordeal. You could try doing a search "dissolving kidney stones", but I don't know if any of those natural remedies work or not.

1832268 tn?1326819610 We brought him home and did twice daily under skin fluids plus standard recommended meds and kidney diet. We then took him to a kidney specialist who was trying to determine at what stage of Kidney disease he was at. Got his levels down a little more a week little later, things were looking promising and his energy levels were increasing dramatically. Less than a week later, he completely stopped eating. Took him to specialist after 2 days of not eating.
Avatar f tn This is one of the most difficult things I've ever had to deal with. My beloved Gypsy is dying of kidney failure. Gypsy is a Jack Russell Terrier and she turned 18...yes 18...on Christmas Day. It's just so hard to know when it is "time." I prayed and prayed that she would give us one final parting gift and die on her own in her sleep...but she is SUCH a fighter and refused to surrender to this thing.
Avatar m tn 'Home Remedies to Make Kidney Stones Dissolve'. I don't think we are allowed to post links here, but if you search that, it should take you to a good piece on kidney stones, on a site called 'Live Strong'. It may give you some ideas that you may be able to use yourself and give you a little more feeling of control. This info may not eliminate the problem, but may help ease the discomfort. I am a firm, lifelong believer in homeopathy.
Avatar m tn So according to test results, I have no kidney infection and no kidney stones because according to my doctor, kidney stones will show some trace of blood in my detailed urine exam. Also note that during the episode of my back/kidney ache, my chest pain was very little to almost gone. Although they came back a little bit but not to the point that i would go crazy.
