Common Questions and Answers about Kidney stones and milk

Avatar f tn When i found out i was pregnant the doctors noticed i had Alot of kidney stones (6 in the right and 2 2mm in the left) since then i have been getting sicker and sicker the farther my pregnancy goes on.. I am 5'3" and 106 lbs i developed an alergy to milk and egg products, have been peeing white hard balls of stuff out and had numerous trips to the hospital. The doctors here just tell me they don't know what's wrong and basically gave up on me.. can this be harmful for the baby?
Avatar n tn I have had a 5mm kidney stone and now have about 5 smaller ones. I have started medication for prevention and been told that I need to change my diet to avoid purines & oxalic acid. I am also hypoglycemic. In researching what I can/cannot eat, I am getting conflicting information. Different websites list the content of these materials at differing amounts. The USDA will say a type of food is at 1 level and another will say something totally different.
Avatar n tn Do check your diet. One high in calcium (cheese, milk, yoghurt) and fats can lead to kidney stones. Also you must drink water to keep the kidneys hydrated and efficient. My male friend gets them often and I have watched him go through them and the advice above is what the doctor's tell him every time.
Avatar f tn my heart goes out to him they say the pain when passing stones is like giving birth, my boyfrind suffers from kidney stones ive seen him in such bad pain that he cant move and his urine the colour of cranberry juice, i know your proberly sick of being told the same thing but while hes actually passing a stone all he can do is take plenty of painkillers and drink loads of water to flush the stone out easier, my boyfriend had lipotripsy which sends shock waves to the kidneys what basically crum
Avatar f tn I live with kidney stones and have been for years. Does anyone know what is good to eat to help prevent stones? All I can find online are foods that I can't eat.
Avatar n tn It was stating the good that is derived from ingesting an adequate supply of calcium either through food, milk or supplements, and stated that it had been shown to lower your risk of colon cancer, kidney stones, and a few others. Definitely caught my attention.

Avatar f tn I know if I go back to eating lots of produce and greens that and the reflux will stop. I also take milk thistle which helps with nausea and the gall pain. Good luck!

Avatar m tn My question is is that i had passed about 7 or 8 kidney stones in the past 10 years and i'm wondering if taking these vitamins will somehow hurt my kidneys or possibly cause me to get more kidney stones? In the past the stones were analyzed and were calcium deposits. Heres what i'm taking: B-Complex Magnesium(500mg twice a day) zinc (50mg) 2 multi mineral vitamins Thanks everyone, I love this site.
Avatar f tn My kids have given me a run this week!!!! Earlier in the week, my youngest son, 11 was up visiting my brother at his summer house, a little over an hour away. He called me after 10 at night and was crying saying he wanted to come home that he wasn't feeling good. I couldn't convince him to stay. He gets anxious being away from me and tends to do this a lot with sleepovers. He really wants to have sleepovers but he's just not able. But when he came home, he wound up pretty sick ...
7808984 tn?1406684565 Well I'm here to tell you just take them as it says and ask for help if you need it. Good luck with you kidney stones and God bless you.
Avatar f tn Hi, Based on your urinalysis results , were there other significant findings eg red blood cells, white blood cells, protein and casts? If kidney stones are a differential here, I suggest that you have a kidney ,ureter and bladder scan to rule this out. A serum uric acid levels as well as serum calcium and phosphate levels may also help. A 24 hour urine collection sample to determine quantitative protein levels in the urine may be necessary.
Avatar n tn But i do have 1 question. Does anyone know if this can lead to increased chance of Kidney Stones? I dont have any kidney stone issues, but I just wanted to see if anyone knows if Phosphaturia can lead to any kidney issues. Thanks!
452063 tn?1324078516 I have seen at least a dozen posts with kidney stones. There has to be some correlation between opiate use and kidney stones. My surgeon showed me mine on the CT scan and it's a white circle as big as a golfball. He feels it might be from chemicals but said that it's probably from my chemo. I keep thinking that he is gonna pull out a big white opiate that either says Endo or Watson on it lol. Just wondering if anyone else was told theirs was from chemicals?
Avatar f tn It took a while but the pain I was having was finally diagnosed as a kidney stone and I have another symptomatic one in the other kidney. But I wonder if kidney stones cause anemia because I suddenly became anemic just over a year ago and we have not been able to find a cause. Although I had occult blood in my urine due to the stone, it was not a lot. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this too or if anyone might know if stones can cause anemia?
82861 tn?1333457511 He appears to be about 2 years old, and we were told that dals have a tendency to develop bladder stones. I understand they need a chicken or lamb-based diet (no beef) and wonder what other dietary measures we need to take. Are there any supplements we should give him to help prevent stone formation? Maggie, our other pup, is a dal x lab mix, so is it correct to assume she likely has the same tendency and should be treated the same as Doc?
Avatar n tn (Palps were evaluated and determined to be PVCs.) I recently went through tests due to the presence of kidney stones. Blood tests revealed mild elevation in serum calcium (10.3 with 10.2 being the upper limit). All other urine and blood tests were within normal range. I met with my urologist yesterday, who says calcium level is not THAT high, so we should just wait and check in 6 months. I'm not certain how to proceed, because I don't feel well and haven't for quite a while.
Avatar m tn hi. i had kidney stones throughout the week and went in and out of hospital until they confirmed i had two stones at the last junction of my tube and 1 still in my kidney. they discharged me on the saturday and the pain had gone alot. i was only experiencing little sharp pains and what feels like lower back pain. when urinating, it sometimes felt burny and uncomfortable. but nothing overly sore. i took the tablets to relax the tube on the saturday and the sunday and never again after.
Avatar f tn It caused the urine to back up into my kidney, and because it was stagnant, caused me to get a kidney infection and I went septic and almost died. After to surgeries, I was sent home with a new diet. There are a number of foods to avoid, as these are high in oxollate. I was told to consume milk products with my meals to bind the calcium to the oxolates found in food. Since then, my doctor did a test and found that I am lactose intolerant.
Avatar n tn Hello, Although there are kidney stones as calcium stones but Drinking milk does not cause kidney stones. Hence your mother can take dairy products under her doctor’s guidance. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. Treatment can be started only when the diagnosis is confirmed. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Since then, the pain has continued and my urologist cannot find any stones in my ureter through x-ray and IVP. He believes that the small stones in my kidney cannot be causing the pain and the stone in my ureter must be gone. He is now telling me to have my ovaries checked. I do not believe for one second that it is anything but a kidney stone. You ALL know the pain. It is the same as it has always been.
Avatar m tn Hello, i am a 20 year old student and recently found that i have two kidney stones. I believe they have both moved from my kidney to my bladder and was wondering how long it takes to pass them through my urine once they are already in my bladder. These stones are 1mm and 2mm and also i was wondering to what extent the pain is going to be when i pass them?
Avatar m tn It doesn't always show up on a CT Scan from what I understand. I feel really bad for you .. I, too, have had many stones and some show up and others don't on the CT Scans and some are missed on ultrasound and pass 24hrs later. Ask your new doc about diet for the oxalate ones and maybe parathyroid check if calcium based. Keep us posted!
Avatar n tn i went to a dr for a ladder fall at work and an xray revealed mild aortic calcification and was given a print out describing such. Was told to go to a dr. I went and had another xray and cholestrol blood work . Cholestrol came back hight but xray did not show anything (now have changed eating habits) . dr said bring the print out as i forgot and now says not to drink ANY milk to help the calcification ? Now i feel as if I cannot eat anything as I now check labels and many food have calcium.
Avatar f tn No, I don't think it will affect kidney stones, but.. Slim fast has horrible ingredients, and I would not feed it to my dog. From their website, they list Hydrogenated soybean oil, High Fructose Corn syrup, etc. Soybean oil will make you fat, and so will high fructose corn syrup.Suffice to say, stay away from Slim Fast! Eat whole foods instead. At best, these drinks may cause rapid weight loss, but they are not healthy and usually the weight comes back later.
Avatar n tn I had constant BV, UTI's (which were always really kidney infections too), and indifferent and negligent doctors who just prescribed me whatever they where prescribing at the time for UTI's. They did this without ever seeing what bacteria and what antibiotic the infection was susceptible to, and more than that, in chronic cases no thought was given to the underlying cause of re-infection.
Avatar m tn Do you feel anything and does a good diet and maybe medication help? I red that milk thissle was good for the liver, is that good to take as a supplement? I just got back from going to the store and sitting in the car I could feel some tightness in my lower right side. Did you ever notice your breath change?
Avatar n tn My doctor told me to try to lay off chocolate, Cokes, and to take in lots of water and calcium. Everything I have read about stones says to slow down Calcium intake. Should I take in calcium or not? I have never really liked milk or taken supplements, so my calcium is probably low already. Also is there any medication I can take to slow down the formation of Kidney stones that are due to MSK. Lastly I also had an Osteoid Osteoma, or "Bone Island" in the X-ray.
193953 tn?1272078626 It will be stuck in the kidney and thats what causes the blood in the urine. The stone is stuck and rolls back and forth in the kidney when it fills with liquid and bruses the inside of your kidney. The tube from the kidney to the bladder isnt equipped to pass that large of a stone, either is the tube from the bladder to the outside of your body (urithia) (sp). A lypotripsy is when they use ultrasound and smash the stone into sand. The stent is so you pass the "sand" easily.
