1035252 tn?1427231433 Do be aware, there are some VERY mixed results from studies of Fish Oil for arrhythmia and heart rate stabilization (and Flax Seed oil is similar in some ways to Fish Oil) -- some studies showed a correlation between higher amounts of Fatty Fish and lower death rate from V-Fib BUT other studies showed a HIGHER rate of death for those patients with arrhythmia and tachycardias taking Fish Oil than the control group who were not taking it. That's one of the problems with these studies...
3287038 tn?1398426027 What complications from kidney stones would someone expect from this or kidney stones in gereral? I stopped all supplements except glucosamine/condroitin, super B, fish oil and vit D.
Avatar f tn I expect I will return to a 'regular' diet one of these days, but not yet. You also mentioned kidney problems. I have a damaged kidney from years ago, and when I get dehydrated, I get little tiny kidney stones that it takes a while to clear. Again, mine is an usual situation, but I did get some small kidney stones while on Diflucan (a rather high dose for several months, which is unusual) and it has taken a while for them to clear.
Avatar m tn Hello and Welcome all the way from Denmark! I, too, have MSK but am doing ok right now with it and apparenlty "free of stones" .. I don't believe we are ever "stone free" but "free of stones that show up on tests" . I know another MedHelp member who lives in Denmark, too! How nice to have you on our community .... I'm sure many can offer you some great advice here ..
1341923 tn?1276130446 Abdominal X-Rays can assess the size and shape of the kidney's and urinary bladder and to see if either contains stones. Stones can act as a nidus for infection and interfere with function.
1832268 tn?1326819610 I was told with kidney disease, its rare to even get them to live a year. She was on benazopril, lisinopril, phosphorous binder, aspirin, fish oil, NF kidney food (when she felt like eating, which wasn't often as she hated this food…she still had an appetite up until the very end, just not for this food). We were told she would basically hold steady and then there would be a sudden drop, and that was basically how it happened.
Avatar m tn So according to test results, I have no kidney infection and no kidney stones because according to my doctor, kidney stones will show some trace of blood in my detailed urine exam. Also note that during the episode of my back/kidney ache, my chest pain was very little to almost gone. Although they came back a little bit but not to the point that i would go crazy.
Avatar f tn More severe kidney problems can lend to loss of appetite and at these times, offering almost any type of food may be necessary. Fish or salmon oil (NOT COD LIVER OIL!) needs to be 1,000 mg per ten pounds of body weight to be renal protective. I would also give one milligram of COQ10 daily per pound of body weight. There is good research behind this that shows it can help bring down the creatinine levels. . I would also include a B vitamin in the dog’s diet, as well as vitamin E.
Avatar f tn Vitamin D is available through our foods - Fortified milk, breakfast cereals, egg yolks, fatty fish, and fish oils. Sit at a window with the sun shining in for about 1/2 hour (few times a week) and that will help you get enough Vitamin D. Glad to hear your calcium is within normal limits. Since you have been taking vitamin D supplementation for awhile, suggest getting retested.
Avatar f tn but I take 2,000 I u daily, fish oil daily and I am in the sun often without sunscreen for at least 15 min.   So I'm thinking it should be fine. What is this looking like?  I'm concerned about this being the beginning of Kidney disease or failure even though my creatinine and bun are fine.  Oh and I don't drink alcohol and I'm not a recovering alcoholic.  Is it normal for my ca to fluctuate like that in just 2 months? What are the possible causes for my high pth.

Avatar n tn Your sister can change her eating habits to try to prolong another gall bladder attack by excluding all diary, fatty meats (only meat without skin is okay and no red meat), vegatable oil (olive oil, omega 3s from fish are okay), and highly processed foods. Wishing you and your sister the best. Take care.
Avatar n tn I take Rexall's Flax, Fish, Borage Oil--it's sold at Wal-Mart and is a Godsend. Please ask your doctor and try it! What do you have to lose? Take care everybody.

Avatar f tn I have constant grinding, popping, and cracking sounds in my joints all over my body, especially in my neck, very badly in my shoulders, my back, jaw, elbows, wrists, knees and hips. It does not usually hurt but my muscles and joints hurt and seem to be tense, weak and stiff. Can anxiety cause all of these CONSTANT symptoms? This problem is effecting my life and my relationships and I just want to feel normal and like my old self again.
Avatar f tn At age 64, I have gone through my whole life without medical problems until I got married (less than two years ago) to a dear, but very messy, disorganized man and have been getting hives, urinary tract infections, and kidney stones ever since. His sister kidded me recently that maybe I am allergic to HIM.... her brother/my husband!
Avatar n tn At the start I had some sharp grabing pains real low down and thought maybe a kidney stone-s . Doing research I found I was prone for stones as was taking gega amounts of tums ( calcium) and drink lots of milk along with vitamins. I thought this was maybe from irritation of the urithra. Also If diebetic as I am gases can form in urinary tract because of sugars present .
Avatar n tn Those using Topomax need to be especially mindful about drinking plenty of fluids due to increased chances of kidney stones. Stoney will likely develop if fluid intake is not maintained. Looking forward to weight loss benefit as I gained 30# over the past 4 years on anti-depressents. Has anyone used this for bipolar?
Avatar f tn Vitamin C, 1000 IU Vitamin D, Calcium Citrate consisting of 200 IU of calcium and 315mg. of Vitamin D, and 1000mg.Omega 3 Fish Oil, 2-3 times/day, and 1000mg Echinacea. Is there a problem taking these daily and should I take anything else? Because of my FMS I'm not as active as I should be that's why I try to take various supplemants. There is a natural product for FMS called Fibrosense I am considering trying now but will take any vitamins that might help as well. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Eat fiber, whole wheat bread, lean chicken, fish, olive oil, and purified water. Stay away from gaseous beverages, sodas, fats, fried food, fast food, high fat dairy products, trans fat, spicy foods and especially hot food / hot peppers , mexican food (chile), italian (tomato), etc. Also avoid stress.
Avatar m tn The animal kingdom actually stored even huger quantities, which is why we can derive the vitamins so readily from cod, shark, or any other fish liver oil. This is also why Admiral Perry and his expedition died however...on their trip to the north Pole they ate Polar Bear liver, extremely high in vitamin D, and it killed them. It's not just that vitamins are essential, it's also that the correct AMOUNTS are essential. Too much, or too little can each be harmful...very harmful.
Avatar n tn For example, vitamin C may cause kidney stones if taken at mega doses. If your situation changes and you are able to eat properly, then you should cut down on the supplements. Thank you.
102999 tn?1326859384 Toxicity causes absorption of too much calcium resulting in kidney stones, kidney failure and calcification of the arteries. The above recommendation is well within the safe range. If your D is 73 that is good!!
535882 tn?1396580285 supplementation over that may cause a risk for toxicity (weak muscles, weak bones, excessive bleeding, and kidney stones). Vitamin D is available through our foods - Fortified milk, breakfast cereals, egg yolks, fatty fish, fish oils, and the sun, as you mentioned.
Avatar n tn I've had shortness of breath which I think is from the cosopt. No appetite which is from the diamox and lately kidney pain (i.e. stones) from the pilocarpine. I don't want to be on this stuff much longer but I would also like to avoid surgery. The docs are just trying to buy me time to see if the effects of the steroid shot wear off and the plumbing in my eye starts working again. I'm also taking ALA, vitamin C, fish oil and doing some cardio whenever I can.
Avatar n tn Thankfully does not seem to be addictive. Several others I know used the Phentermine and had severe kidney stones with extreme pain. I fortunetly did not. But stopped the use anyway. I was also advised by my Physician it can cause high blood pressure issues. Not worth the risks.
