Keppra neck pain

Common Questions and Answers about Keppra neck pain

keppra

Avatar m tn I am a 24 year old male and have been experiencing tightness in neck, chest, and sometimes shoulder area. The tightness is not painful like I could have a heart attack but more irritating. I had surgery for a hiatal hernia and had laparoscopic fundoplication done and I also have scoliosis. I've been to a chiropractor for my tightness to see if that would help but it just came right back. Wonder if this could be related to my scoliosis.
Avatar n tn Hi everyone. I have been on Depakote since I was 2 y.o., I am currently 39 y.o. In mid-may I switched to Keppra & was off depakote totally by mid-June. End of June is when things started acting weird. Hormones going bonkers. I thought at 1st, maybe prego?..but all tests have been neg. So then i did some reading on if/how Keppra can have effect on hormones. Has any woman out there experienced a wet clear discharge in underwear everyday while on Keppra? Nothing else weird about it..
Avatar m tn Just looking to see if anyone has any weird syndromes or something similar, still have severe neck pain located on top of shoulder near her neck, when this pain is severe seems to drive many of the other conditions. Currently taking Keppra, today had a mild seizure if that is what this is while on medicine, we still feel somehow tied into her neck pain.
4294412 tn?1353197830 t doin anything my pain specialist is giving me shots in neck and gettin MRI on my lower back cuz same thing is goin on in my legs and ya I have tried the gabapenton but it makes me very drowsy I work two jobs can't be drowsy now I am takin keppra 250 mg at night its not so bad but I need pain relief during the day it's very difficult to find that and it not be a narcotic
1794411 tn?1321495731 Well today I saw my NS for the first time since January. I now have ANOTHER thing to add to my list of DX's.... occipital neuralgia, they want to do a nerve block but so far my insurance has denied it. I had the epidural shot for my neck this past thursday and it didn't do anything. And now that I know about the O. N. she said there's no point to getting anymore epidural shots. The Dr's here don't want to prescribe pain meds for my neck.
Avatar f tn I recently learned that I have degenerative disc disease in my cervical spine which is probably contributing to the neck pain, and I refuse physical therapy or chiropractor. I also have lordosis of my mid spine and makes laying down painful as well. I know that there are other issues contributing to my chiari malformation to make things more painful and harder to diagnose. My NS wants to wait to do surgery until he rules out other possible problems.
Avatar m tn even though the leaflet that comes with keppra now states it can cause muscle pain joint pain and paresthesia. she was still talking as if it was unlikely that kepra was causing my problems which is stupid. as i have had loads of nerve conduction tests and other tests that have proved there is nothing else causing the pain and pins and needles in my hands/lower arms when i said i was vitamin d deficient and i thought keppra had caused it.
Avatar f tn However I am now getting a slight jerk in my neck and my shoulders. My arms are also very shaky. My question is, is this going to go away? I refuse to take medication to control the symptoms because I'd rather treat the cause. Has anyone gotten better with PSM? How did you treat your problem? Was surgery the answer? Did it get better or time? With rest?
Avatar f tn t spaced out, but I have been in a lot of pain. Whenever I open my mouth I feel a sharp pain in the right side of my head and jaw, I have severe headaches now, I get extremely dizzy, I feel so weak every day, I get menstrual cramps but I'm not menstruating. I guess my question is Keppra a good medicine to be taking? Is there anything else out there for these "spacing out" episodes? If I have only had one seizure should I really have to take three medicines?
Avatar f tn continued to increase med dose, now on 3000mg of Keppra a day. Lots of side affects, but they are lessening and medication is slowing seizure activity way down. EEG showed a few "abnormalities". Seeing Neurosurgeon in 1 month. All very new & scary! Sound similar to anyone? Any advice on what to expect from neurosurgeon and moving forward?
Avatar f tn ve been reading it could be what is called Central Post Stroke Pain (CPSP) or Thalamic Pain Syndrome. There are several treatments that seem to help but you should seek your neurologist. A combination of low dose amitriptyline (10 - 50 mg at night) plus gabapentin (300 - 1800 mg per day) or pregabalin (50 - 600 mg per day) produces the best pain relief with the lowest incidence of side effects.
Avatar f tn TL;DR: I think Keppra makes me dehydrated because alcohol makes me feel super-dehydrated even if I follow the 2:1 water:alcohol ratio, and because I seem to have a hard time staying hydrated in general. But I'm seeing little if any literature to support dehydration as a Keppra side effect. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Avatar m tn Isn't this the gommunity due to neuropathy pain from keppra?
1165078 tn?1338655745 I'm looking for ppl who r on Keppra or KeppraXR, for at least 7 mo. to a yr... I have noticed shoulder joint? socket?tendon? problems, other than the normal irritability issues, what have you noticed in way of side effects of being on this drug for so long? I also noticed weight gain, even though I exercise daily..
450140 tn?1317947304 I have been checked by ENT as well. MRI of neck, brain, and spine. The biggest complaints I have are the above mentioned neck, ear pain, sweats (not hot flashes really sweats that drench me), weakness on left side of body. I am on pain meds for the pain. Yesterday at my appt. he prescribed KEPPRA as a preventitive. Also, ATEX if I feel a migraine coming on. I have gained 25 pounds since Jan 23! I figured because my GP put me on predisone at the beginning of all this. But I am still gaining.
1558393 tn?1299070031 L and he took me off all pain meds and put me on Keppra, I have to say that so far it does help with the headaches. I am now starting to notice at night when I have been in bed for about 15 min my ENTIRE body starts to ache, from head to toe. It is so bad that I can't sleep and want to cry. Does anyone else have this happen to them? It also does it at my desk if I sit to long. I asked my new Neuro about the pain and he said that I need to see my PCP becauce he only deals with headaches.
Avatar n tn I also take Keppra but have never had any problems at all. I suffered with depression for 11 years and came of the medicine fully just before I went on Keppra, and yes I have days where I do feel depressed but with any illness you do have days where you feel depressed even suicidal. So my advice is don't necessarily put it down to Keppra. Talk to the doctor who prescribed Keppra to you and see if you can be referred to a Psychiatrist to talk it through and find out if it is the tablets!
Avatar f tn No matter how small or large the amount. At first I thought this a side effect of the anticonvulsant I take (Keppra) -- the instructions say to avoid alcohol because very serious interactions can occur, although they never specify what those interactions are. A couple medical professionals I talked to about it said that it's because Keppra increases the level of enzymes present in my liver, thereby speeding up my liver's metabolic rate.
1596950 tn?1297352500 aggresion is a side effect of keppra, doctors sometime call it the "keppra rage". i didn't have the aggression, but i had the learning problems. bad memory and lack of concentration was the worst of it. it was so bad because i'm at varsity and you're basically just a number so they don't really care.
Avatar m tn I have no health insurance. I was finally got a really basic coverage, but it doesn't cover keppra. i've been taking keppra for a 2 months. I was switched to phenobarbitol for when I run out. since keppra is not on the charity's formulary. I hope to God that I cant find some source of keppra before I run out. The phenobarb is scary. So I'm excited about the links here: http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/index.php http://www.needymeds.
1558393 tn?1299070031 I went to my PCP about the body pain, he said it was from the Keppra. That is one of the main side effects. When I called the new nuro he said that he did not know why I was having the pain...well DUHHH he should have known. Per my PCP I will not be seeing him agian! Any way my great family doctor is slowly taking me off the Keppra. I go back in two weeks and he is going to try Topamax. Does anyone take this? If so does it work with your headaches? Do you have any side effects?
Avatar f tn Hello I have been taking Keppra for migraines. It doesn't seem to be helping much and I don't want to put up with the side effects. In my research I see that people take it mainly for seizures and taper off of it very slowly due to the risk of their seizures returning. My question is since I don't have seizures and was taking it for migraines is there any need to taper? Thanks for any info!
479255 tn?1208116148 I work in the medical field and my neurologist put me on Keppra. I was still having seizures on 1000mg per day so he increased the dosage over the phone from 1000 to 2000 mg per day. I still have problems so I called him back..............he told me to see a shrink. I feel like the keppra is making me have mood swings that are totally crazy! I am usually very laid back and mellow and now get upset over the littlest things for no reason................
Avatar m tn As my DD is in Keppra, and has previously been on other seizure meds, the Keppra, by far has had the least amount of side-effects. You could ask if some of her mood changes, memory loss, etc. are from the stroke vs. the Keppra. Please do not wean her off the medication without a Dr's directive... that could cause withdrawal seizures. My thoughts are with you that your mother gets well soon.
Avatar f tn Did you start it after or before keppra? How long were you on Keppra? I wish my daughter could take Lamictal but her rash got the doctor worried, even though it was ringworm. Have you heard of any other anti-seizure meds that might actually work well for moods? I know Lamictal is a very good mood stabilizer. Good luck.
