Avatar f tn I was orginally on Depo-Provera for 1 1/2 years (never had a period), switched to Seasonale (major nausea), then switched to Tri-Sprintec (my chest got huge on this pill), and then to Kariva (was great!). I was on Kariva for 10 months. I never took the placebo week, so I never had a 'period'. However, if and when I missed a pill or took it a little late, I always had spotting for a day or two.
Avatar f tn Hi- I am a 17 year old girl and I have been on birth control pills for a little over a year and a half now. I was originally prescribed Ortho-Tricyclen Lo but was switched to Kariva in May of this year because it was said to be the "less expensive generic brand" of Tricyclen Lo. I always felt a little more irritable and noticed my skin got a little more sensitive when I originally started taking the pill, but nothing too bad.
Avatar m tn just had a phone appointment with my dr and I told her that on my current pill (cilest-monophasic) I was spotting towards the end of the packet (before the 7 day break) and that I would also spot if I took the packets back to back. She said that I would need a pill with higher estrogen and that she was going to prescribe me a triphasic pill with varying hormone doses throughout the month. She told me that I could also take this back-to-back and I asked her again for reassurance.
Avatar f tn Last Wednesday I got my period, and I began taking Kariva Birth Control. On friday, My boyfriend and I decided to have sex, which was dumb, but we used a condom with spermicide on it and in it. After a little bit, the condom popped and he pulled out immediately without ejaculating at all. Then we were finished. I know that people say that girls can get pregnant on their periods, however, i was only on the 3rd day of my cycle and i highly doubt that i could have ovulated so early...
Avatar m tn Is it triphasic (3 different levels of hormones), biphasic (two different levels of hormones during the month) or monophasic (each pill contains the same level of hormones)? You may need to change your pill.
Avatar f tn What pill are you taking? Is it monophasic with the same level of hormones all month or is it triphasic with different levels of hormones? Until I know what brand you're taking I can't answer your questions.
Avatar f tn If you have a couple of months, get on a monophasic pill now and you'll be fine. Monophasic pills have the same dose in every pill, which lets you skip a period by just starting a new pack after 3 weeks (don't take the sugar pill week). I was told by my doc that it's safe to take up to 3 packs in a row before you should let yourself have a period.
Avatar m tn I am on Kariva birth control. I missed 2 or 3 pills the week that i had sex. We used protection everytime except penetration once for like 30 but he did not ejaculate. I took plan b (the one pill version) between th 48 and 72 hour mark. It has been 2 weeks since and my period has been a couple days late and very very light (dark brown). I know that the plan b causes disruptions in menstrating and so does missing pills but id like to lnow if im just overly paranoid.
Avatar f tn Is it possible that I have a monophasic illness with many exacerbations, or can anyone think of something that my Dr's are missing?
1063764 tn?1272821064 I am also on the birth control pill Kariva. I was told that they would not interfere with each other, however something is not right and I was just wondering if anyone out there could help me out. I can't get back to the endocrinologist for another 4 months for my next test, so I did not want to stop the medication. Does anyone know how long it stays in your body...I was considering not taking it for a few weeks just to see if this cleared up.
Avatar f tn i know all birth controls are different, but they have a lot of similar side effects. i was on yasmin, seasonique, kariva, and now sprintec. the first two that i mentioned: i had my period for about a month. sometimes it just takes a while for your body to adjust. for me it eventually regulated.
Avatar n tn The only way it may work is with monophasic birth control pills but you would've had to start them already months ago. Your next menstrual cycle is already in progress at this time and there is nothing you can do to stop it anymore. Even if you got on the pill tomorrow, based on where you're at in the cycle, it wouldn't have any effect so you'll just have to have your period as scheduled.
11728532 tn?1451774466 Hi there, I'm an 18 y/o female and I have taken birth control ( Kariva -- to be specific) since I was 15 to treat PCOS. About a month ago, I had intercourse and afterwards I bled heavily and had cramps for a week. I should not have gotten my period for another two weeks according to my pills. When I took the pills that started my period, It was very light and ended two days early. We used a condom but I'm scared.
Avatar m tn m a 21 year old who just stopped the pill after 5 years of being on it consistently. In October I was switched from Azzurette to Kariva, just a generic brand switch. I hated it and decided to go natural and stop the pill all-together around November 13. I got my "withdrawal period" right after.
Avatar f tn Hello, Loestrin is a monophasic pill which contains a high androgenic/low estrogenic profile. It comparatively has lesser side effects and light menstrual cycles and less risk of endometrial and ovarian cancer. When taken as directed it is almost 92-99.7% effective. Whether a particular pill will cause side effects or not cannot be predicted. The response varies in every woman. If you are doubtful contact your gynecologist and discuss your concerns. I sincerely hope it helps Keep me posted.
Avatar f tn Well, you switched from a monophasic pill to a triphasic pill, so it might take your body some time to adjust to having varying levels of hormones instead of having a consistent level as you did with the minestrin. Also, with ortho tri cyclen, I'm pretty sure the lowest level of hormone level it's that first week, then slightly higher the next week and then the highest level the third week before the placebos.
Avatar n tn Patient presented with fulminate demyelinating encephalitis later diagnosed as adult ADEM (acute demyelinating encephalitis) which is a very rare monophasic condition with an unknown autoimmune source; in a coma within 24hrs of initial symptoms. Patient is now fully recovered having responded quickly to plasmapheresis.
Avatar f tn orthotrycyclinn made me have two cycles a month but every pill they gave me did that instead of makeing my periouds lighter it made me have more and heavier ones, plus i lost a lot of weight on birth control i was on kariva, low loesestrin fe, abri, orthottycyclin, and two other ones all of them did the same thing they helped witht he cramps but i had more cycles than i was suppposed to.
Avatar f tn ll be lowering your dose and will probably bleed. In the future, if you want to be able to skip periods at will, get on on monophasic pill, which has only one dose and therefore allows you to skip periods by starting a new pack. You should ask your doctor about safety, although I'm 99% sure that there would be no risk beyond breakthrough bleeding. Congrats on getting married, by the way!
Avatar m tn I did it by starting a new pill pack right before the placebo week of the previous pack was supposed to start. The pills I use are monophasic. I tried to continue taking the pill at the same time while traveling but because of the time difference the taking time shifted a bit. Also at some point while traveling I skipped one pill, so I took two the next day.
Avatar f tn I checked and the levoxly is not a generic and I do not take any other drugs (except Kariva at night). I would not know why my hair is falling out or what to ask the doctor to check. I am so worried that I will be the only bald one in my family.
