Avatar f tn I was orginally on Depo-Provera for 1 1/2 years (never had a period), switched to Seasonale (major nausea), then switched to Tri-Sprintec (my chest got huge on this pill), and then to Kariva (was great!). I was on Kariva for 10 months. I never took the placebo week, so I never had a 'period'. However, if and when I missed a pill or took it a little late, I always had spotting for a day or two.
Avatar f tn Hi- I am a 17 year old girl and I have been on birth control pills for a little over a year and a half now. I was originally prescribed Ortho-Tricyclen Lo but was switched to Kariva in May of this year because it was said to be the "less expensive generic brand" of Tricyclen Lo. I always felt a little more irritable and noticed my skin got a little more sensitive when I originally started taking the pill, but nothing too bad.
Avatar m tn A triphasic pill is a really bad idea for someone who is having problems with spotting AND it is the worst idea for someone to take back to back because that will for sure absolutely cause spotting. Only if you take the pack out of order can you possibly skip your period (and I'm not sure of the order because I was only on it for a short time and it was like 15 years ago) but the issue is that with triphasic your chances of spotting when trying to skip are pretty much 98-99% certain.
Avatar f tn What pill are you taking? Is it monophasic with the same level of hormones all month or is it triphasic with different levels of hormones? Until I know what brand you're taking I can't answer your questions.
Avatar f tn My period is apparently supposed to take place while I am on vacation in a couple months. If it were possible I'd try to reschedule however everything is bought and paid for. What would anyone recommend to delay or induce period before then? Any particular BC brands? I am currently not on any pills...
Avatar m tn I am on Kariva birth control. I missed 2 or 3 pills the week that i had sex. We used protection everytime except penetration once for like 30 but he did not ejaculate. I took plan b (the one pill version) between th 48 and 72 hour mark. It has been 2 weeks since and my period has been a couple days late and very very light (dark brown). I know that the plan b causes disruptions in menstrating and so does missing pills but id like to lnow if im just overly paranoid.
Avatar f tn I have been unwell for over three years. It started with a severe headache, vertigo, numb leg. I now have a neurogenic bladder. I have had many MRI's, all normal. I have had 5 lp's all abnormal.( increased white cells, lymphocytes, increased protein, increased IGg, and in the first three, oligoclonal bands. MS was ruled out when the oligclonal bands disappeared.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to start taking the Yellow pill (hormone pill) on the first day of my period which I found a little confusing as it is meant to stop your period. Anyway, I have now almost finished my first sheet and I am up to the White suger pills which bring on your period, but the thing is I have now had my period for over two weeks (the whole time I have been taking the pill) and I am worried as to why? I had sex a week before I went on the pill but I don't think I'm pregnant?
Avatar n tn The only way it may work is with monophasic birth control pills but you would've had to start them already months ago. Your next menstrual cycle is already in progress at this time and there is nothing you can do to stop it anymore. Even if you got on the pill tomorrow, based on where you're at in the cycle, it wouldn't have any effect so you'll just have to have your period as scheduled.
1063764 tn?1272821064 I am also on the birth control pill Kariva. I was told that they would not interfere with each other, however something is not right and I was just wondering if anyone out there could help me out. I can't get back to the endocrinologist for another 4 months for my next test, so I did not want to stop the medication. Does anyone know how long it stays in your body...I was considering not taking it for a few weeks just to see if this cleared up.
Avatar m tn m a 21 year old who just stopped the pill after 5 years of being on it consistently. In October I was switched from Azzurette to Kariva, just a generic brand switch. I hated it and decided to go natural and stop the pill all-together around November 13. I got my "withdrawal period" right after.
11728532 tn?1451774466 Hi there, I'm an 18 y/o female and I have taken birth control ( Kariva -- to be specific) since I was 15 to treat PCOS. About a month ago, I had intercourse and afterwards I bled heavily and had cramps for a week. I should not have gotten my period for another two weeks according to my pills. When I took the pills that started my period, It was very light and ended two days early. We used a condom but I'm scared.
Avatar f tn This is a case where you should call your pharmacy and have a discussion. I would personally throw out the pack and start a new one since it seems like things were a bit confusing.
Avatar n tn Patient presented with fulminate demyelinating encephalitis later diagnosed as adult ADEM (acute demyelinating encephalitis) which is a very rare monophasic condition with an unknown autoimmune source; in a coma within 24hrs of initial symptoms. Patient is now fully recovered having responded quickly to plasmapheresis.
Avatar f tn I thought the Active pills were going to stop my spotting since Ortho Tri Cyclen is actually strong, but instead its made me have a full blown period!!! Anyone know what could be going on?
Avatar f tn Okay. My doctor is thankfully a girl, so it won't be difficult or uncomfortable to talk to her about it. She is actually the one who brought it up the other day when I was in there. I'm also seein my dermatologist here soon hopefully do I'll get her opinion too.
Avatar f tn Ortho tri cyclen lo is a triphasic pill, which means that each week is a different dose. The bleeding on the pill is caused by withdrawal from the hormones, so even if you start a new pack with no break, you'll be lowering your dose and will probably bleed. In the future, if you want to be able to skip periods at will, get on on monophasic pill, which has only one dose and therefore allows you to skip periods by starting a new pack.
Avatar f tn The package insert that came with the pills is clear about what to do when you miss pills. You should always follow those directions because they were written specifically for those pills. I don't know what pill you're on because you didn't say. But in a monophasic pill, the directions for 3 or more missed pills are as follows: If you miss three or more pills in the first two weeks of the pack, take a pill as soon as you remember and take the next pill at the usual time.
Avatar f tn I checked and the levoxly is not a generic and I do not take any other drugs (except Kariva at night). I would not know why my hair is falling out or what to ask the doctor to check. I am so worried that I will be the only bald one in my family.
Avatar m tn I did it by starting a new pill pack right before the placebo week of the previous pack was supposed to start. The pills I use are monophasic. I tried to continue taking the pill at the same time while traveling but because of the time difference the taking time shifted a bit. Also at some point while traveling I skipped one pill, so I took two the next day.
Avatar m tn There's been studies on this. I couldn't find a study where a pacer or ICD failed.
