504930 tn?1210512101 I have been reading about my symptoms and it sounds a lot like this, since the jaw and ear started hurting. (plugged feeling in the ear) Also right side neck pain for a few days a couple of weeks ago. (I just assumed I slept on it wrong or something).
Avatar m tn A few days ago I yawned, and had this extreme pain in my upper neck, right below my chin. I have experienced this pain before, but not like this. After the yawn occurred, I experienced massive head pain. The pain did not stop, and has continued threw the week. And I also have experienced the neck pain every so often. But now, after over talking/volunteering, I'm experiencing the pain non stop, And my head hurts quite a lot. Also when I lay my head down I can feel a very hard beat in my head.
Avatar m tn TMJ disorders — a type of temporomandibular disorder or TMD — can cause pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles that control jaw movement and this can radiate to parts of your head. If it continues, then maybe a trip to your dentist might be of some help.
Avatar n tn ve been having very similar symptoms as you where I have shooting pain behind my head and neck on the left side as well as my temple. Its a 24/7 constant pain and I have to take 800 mg ibuprofen just for some relief! I am in desperate need of an answer!
Avatar m tn What I have is actually in the neck and jaw. the left side of my neck hurts toward the side (main muscle/tendon going down from the jaw to the shoulder, and under my jaw, from what I can tell is inside my jaw. there are ridges on my jaw towards my chin that hurt, and also the space in between my jaw hurts. Don't know if it is glandular or tmj related. odd stuff. Cannot see my doc until next Thursday. anything that I can do?
Avatar f tn Hello~You may have some misplace vertebrae in your neck, causing the pain you are having. I suggest maybe seeing a chiropractor, he/she will take an x-ray and be able to determine if there are areas causing the pain; a few adjustments and you should be fine. It could also be due to a TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Jaw) issue, seeing a dentist can help rule that out, but I do know that when a person has this issue, they will have pain in the regions you are having yours in. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn The pain in your jaw from opening and shutting your mouth can be TMJ. The over-bite, under-bite,even a tilt in the upper area across the area of top of lip area or, and the bottom area bone can cause the jaw to slip in & out of place in the area the jaw bone connects to the skull. An oral surgeon can check for this problem. TMJ can be heredity. You can go to a specialist in neck and spine. If you did damage to the neck they may not find it in xrays, but it can be found in MRI.
Avatar f tn For the past week now I have been having some pain in my jaw. The pain wasn't too bad and I took some motrin and it would go away. Last night the pain was almost unbareable. And it got worse everytime I would lay down. Nothing was helping not even the motrin. The pain seems to start near my ear all the way to the front of my teeth on the lower left side. What can this be? There is no swelling just agonizing pain.
Avatar n tn The submandibular gland pain is felt under the jaw/neck and also can give pain in the jaw bone and ear. An xray called a sialogram can be done where they try and pass a tiny tube through the duct and into the gland, carrying dye which is shown up on the xray. Sometimes they are unable to do this because of the blockage in the tiny duct itself. Pain can also come from the muscles in the neck being tense. Try resting with a warm compress or warm hot water bottle against your neck and face.
Avatar f tn For the past five days my neck, ear, jaw and head have been hurting, ONLY on the left side. My neck feels achy and slightly stiff, I get a sharp pain that shoots through my ear when I swallow food and drink. I do have some slight swelling on my jaw. The pain is constant with no relief. I just moved and are without insurance right now. Just wondering if this is something I can wait out or if I should be seen for it and also would like some idea of what this is?
Avatar f tn Hello, I have a generally high pulse and can feel it on both sides of my neck near my jaw. Now I have noticed that I can see a bounding pulse near the base of my neck in the middle near my clavicle. I am wondering if this is something I should be worried about?
3760834 tn?1348071370 Since I don't know the actual cause of the ear/jaw pain, I can't make any suggestions, except maybe an OTC pain med, but you should talk to your doctor about it.
Avatar m tn Last week I found a pea sized, soft, movable lump under the skin of my neck (near the front center of my throat and its located just under the start of my jaw [at the very top of my throat]). A day or so after finding the lump, I ate dinner and started to feel like something was stuck in my throat. I believe originally the sensation was towards the bottom of my throat, now every now and then (generally after I eat) I get the feeling and it appears to be higher up now (not sure about this).
Avatar m tn Back pain won't cause neck/jaw pain, but neck/jaw pain can cause back pain. The effects of gravity apply forces downward. It sounds to me like it could be a problem in the upper cervical area (top of the neck), just beneath the skull. Here's a list of specialists in Connecticut... Hopefully one of them is close by: http://tinyurl.com/cdsyxt Adam Tanase, D.C. www.drtanase.
Avatar n tn I have recently started having random joint pain, shoulder, wrist, hand, knee and have found that resting the joint in a splint or brace reallly helps. However, the latest pain is in my jaw - this happened last night. Anybody else had this?
Avatar f tn My latest bought (Just getting Over) originated from the below the jaw/neck. Radiated to ear, teeth, cheek, eye and forehead. At 1st I thought it was an ear infection. There are 3 nerves (TRI-geminal) in the face that will cause different pain in different locations. Typically only effects one side of the face. Treatment is difficult. Pain med. Anti-inflammatory. Soft foods, rest.

387767 tn?1345872027 Is it possible to have arthritis in the jaw? I get pain in my jaw right near my ear, and I get pain in my ear, especially the left one. I also get a sharp pains in my head on that side. I am worried. Doctors are not really giving me an answer, and I visited several dentists to check my teeth and for TMJ. My jaw kind of clicks when I move it, but not really any pain in my mouth. Since I have arthritis in so many other joints, is it possible to have it here too?
Avatar n tn I am having a problem with my left ear/jaw area. The pain will start gradually but increase over time. It casuses my jaw to feel tight and I have terrific pain in my ear. It hurts to turn my head to the right (keep in mind it is my left ear that hurts) and touching my ear causes near vomit inducing pain. There is a spot just below my ear that if I massage it, the pain subsides for a minute or two and then starts back up.
Avatar n tn when I speak to my patients and explain the interconnectivity of the mouth and specifically the lower jaw to the Cervical (neck) spine and the more they ususally have a blank look on their face. The simple answer is that it could be both ways, meaning yes your scoliosis could have effected your jaw position and/or the other way, the jaw position could have caused your scoliosis.. How to treat it.. stay away from surgery. Find yourself a good Chiropractor, and a Neuromuscular dentist.
Avatar m tn They were picked up on the heart monitors. The pain was very much like the chest pain with my heart attacks. The burning ache in the center of my chest. Not twinges and not going up in my neck or jaw. That was the only difference between the chest pains with heart attacks and the spasms. The spasms seem to stay confined to my chest area. The heart attack chest pains radiated to my jaw, cheekbones and arms.
20882836 tn?1563657080 Having pain makes this less likely to be some of the cancers that might show as a lump on the neck with the exception of thyroid cancer. But again, there are several things that are not cancer related that can cause these lumps. https://www.healthline.com/health/neck-lump#pictures-of-neck-lumps Can you see your regular doctor in the very near future?
Avatar m tn s a very good idea to seek therapy ~ it can make a world of difference in your life! Regarding the jaw pain; clenching jaw muscles can affect your neck and jaw, it is actually a common symptom for many people who suffer from anxiety. If it is extreme, you can ask your dentist for a mouth guard, which can help reduce the pain and also save your teeth from any future damage ( use it at night while you sleep, or if you nap anytime)...
146298 tn?1258712247 They go from my eye to my jaw and specific points of pain are jaw, base of skull, top of skull, behind ear, where shoulder meets neck. When I have such a headache I am very dizzy, technically it's vertigo. After the ache has begun my nostril slowly closes itself and adds a bit to the pressure, but I've had sinus headaches and this is different. Something in my head seems to be swelling and blocking the nasal passage rather than the nasal passage being blocked and causing the pain.
Avatar m tn lately, for about the past two weeks, I have had a pain that is sharp in nature on the left side of my neck. Its not surface pain, but rather inside of the neck, closer to my esophagus than anything, but it feels very sharp. I have seen a chiro before about back/posture issues, but just wondering if anyone else has had this or not. Im 32 and in relatively good health.
Avatar f tn I am a 17 years old girl. four months ago i started experiencing neck pain that wouldnt go away.
