Common Questions and Answers about Upper jaw pain near ear

jaw-pain

1827123 tn?1383865276 It started near my ear and has progressed over the last few days. Now the pain is in upper and lower jaw to the mid line. VERY uncomfortable, and I'm not sure what is causing it.
Avatar n tn Take a small lotion or shampoo bottle, fill with hot water and press the bottom of the bottle INTERMETTENTLY on the joint near the ear, where upper and lower jaw meets. Do this a couple of times a day- but make sure you don't burn yourself. This is only a temporary relief measure, but it helped my husband who was gettin headaches from TMJ. Also, do not chew gum or eat hard foods.
Avatar n tn There is a roaring in my left ear at times and a constant feeling of ear fullness (in the beginning there was also some itchiness in the ear canal). I do have jaw problems but this ear thing has been pretty recent. Sometime there's pain and sometime there's not. I have minor jolts of pain in my jaw and sometimes in my neck. I also have an odd warm press feeling in the back of my head (same side as my ear).
Avatar m tn I think, muscles near your upper and lower jaw are misaligned. you may visit neuro-mascular dentist. They deal with the muscles of the mouth.Migrane and neck pain may cause due to misalignment of thees muscles. Please confirm before you act on my suggestion.
Avatar n tn It hurts to turn my head to the right (keep in mind it is my left ear that hurts) and touching my ear causes near vomit inducing pain. There is a spot just below my ear that if I massage it, the pain subsides for a minute or two and then starts back up. Usually, if I can lay still and/or go to sleep the pain goes away and may not resurface for several days but always comes back. I went to an ear doctor but since it wasn't an actual infection he did not offer much help.
Avatar f tn I have had jaw pain for many days, only on one side, now i have ear and throat pain on the same side, and my jaw hurts so bad, like I had been punched (or so I assume) really har din the jaw. It hurts to eat, and I have pain in my ear and a sore throat.....can anyone give me advise? Bad sinuses? Time to go the Dr?
Avatar m tn The initial pain was primarily in my ear, but then spread to other areas on the left side of my face. I do have pain in my in the upper part of my jaw near the joint, but I don't have any of the other symptoms that you listed. Could it still be Bell's palsy and why does the pain lessen when I lay down and resume when I stand?
Avatar m tn There isnt really anymore pain on the tooth but my jaw around the region of where my upper and lower connect near my ear aches very bad to the point that it wakes me up at night. Taking advil makes it feel better but how long will this be painful. And what is causing this?
Avatar f tn Have the Sam e thing.Got a sinus infection that infected my eye and caused upper jaw pain. And some in my ear.
Avatar n tn AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST. IN ADDITION TO THE JAW PAIN, I WAS HAVING EAR PAIN, AND THE GUM AREA (WHERE THE TOOTH WAS) WAS VERY SORE. THE ORAL SURGEON REFERRED ME TO A GUM SPECIALIST WHO SAID MY GUM LOOKED OK, BUT I MIGHT NEED AN INPLANT. THE EAR PAIN CONTINUED, SO I WAS SENT TO AN ENT DOCTOR WHO SAID MY EAR LOOKED FINE.
Avatar f tn s all the teeth on the upper left side...the pain can also extend into my jaw area..and sometimes that whole side of my face has a "numb' feeling. I can never really pinpoint where the pain is coming from. It can be a constant aching - or even a "decay" feeling like I have a cavity. I can still chew on that side - it's sometime a bit sensitive to cold, but not overly so.
Avatar f tn Then I started with a twitching in my left upper arm near my shoulder, now I have this constant ache in my left shoulder, and sometimes it feels like a vise on the left side of the base of my skull, when it's like this I get this bug crawling sensation near my left ear and onto my face. Could this be some type of injury or tmj? Any reply would be greatly appreciated. There is no facial pain, but sometimes my left ear will hurt. Thank you very much. This is starting to scare me.
Avatar f tnPain or tenderness of your jaw •Pain in one or both of the temporomandibular joints •Aching pain in and around your ear •Difficulty chewing or pain while chewing •Aching facial pain •Locking of the joint, making it difficult to open or close your mouth TMJ disorders can also cause a clicking sound or grating sensation when you open your mouth or chew.
Avatar m tn It sounds as if you may have TMJ.Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Syndrome is hard to diagnose and will cause excuriating pain. Here are just some of the symptoms... Pain in the facial muscles and jaw joints may radiate to the neck or shoulders. Joints may be overstretched. You may experience muscle spasms from TMJ syndrome. You may feel pain every time you talk, chew, or yawn. Pain usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw.
Avatar n tn I got up, I had burning and pressure in the upper part of my chest, neck, jaw and ear. I thought I would die before I got to the ER. I was in the hospital for 3 days before having a heart cath, which the doctors said my heart was fine. While in the hospital they treated by giving me 325mg aspirin, pevacid, lovanix , activan, anti-nausea drugs and pain killers. I didn't have any spells in the hospital. Now I am home and I just had two hours of numbness in my neck, jaw and ear.
Avatar n tn m not sure if this is tooth or ear related. The pain is definately in my jaw, but I could not point to a specific tooth and the pain shoots up to my ear. I'll also try ibuprophen. Thanks for the comments!
Avatar n tn had a stabing pain behind left ear, it was between my ear and jaw bone, recently had two teeth pulled near the front. it hurt when i open my mouth and the ice cream made it hurt. I also have a sinus infection and sore throat.
387767 tn?1345872027 Is it possible to have arthritis in the jaw? I get pain in my jaw right near my ear, and I get pain in my ear, especially the left one. I also get a sharp pains in my head on that side. I am worried. Doctors are not really giving me an answer, and I visited several dentists to check my teeth and for TMJ. My jaw kind of clicks when I move it, but not really any pain in my mouth. Since I have arthritis in so many other joints, is it possible to have it here too?
Avatar n tn Hi there, for me it started when i lose my voice (not competely) but no pain in the throat area. then area around my left jaw joint area (below the ear) starts to feel uncomfortable especially every time i moved my jaw or open my mouth wide to eat something. i dont have toothache etc. then i start to have running nose and nose block. i went to see a GP, he say there is slight infection in the ear and nose. i was on medication for 6 days.
387767 tn?1345872027 Ear pain, Jaw pain and Headaches can be due to TMJ ( Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction). TMJ is common in patients with Fibromyalgia. Do you grind /clench your teeth at night? Do you mostly get this pain after waking up from sleep? Then most likely it's TMJ. Also, If your dentist mentions that you have some teeth-wear ( Attrition), then you are most likely grinding/clenching your teeth at night. Though I don't know what the reason could be for your throat closing up...
Avatar n tn I have severe pain in my jaw and it is difficult to close my mouth without tension/pain. It sends stabbing pain both in my jaw and ear at night. I also have a lump on the jaw joint near my ear!!! I has been going on since begining of september.I wake up screaming. It is like some stabbed me with a long knitting needle after held over a flame!!!!!! This discussion is related to Lump on jaw?.
504930 tn?1210512101 I have been to the Dr many times, ruled out everything (sinus, migraine, etc) I went to a neurologist a couple of weeks ago, he suggested a MRI and MRA of the head (its scheduled for next week). Last week my right jaw near the ear and ear started hurting still hurts, (also head still hurts at times). the pain fluctuates. My question is will the MRI of the head show TMJ? I have been reading about my symptoms and it sounds a lot like this, since the jaw and ear started hurting.
Avatar n tn Hello, For the part 2 weeks, I have been experiening pain when I open my mouth wide on the right side. The pain is right in front of my ear (upper jaw area). The pain is not there when I talk, chew, laugh..etc. Only when I open wide like to brush my teeth, or bite down on an apple...etc. I don't hear any popping, clicking when I chew, talk o laugh. I am really worried to if I am developing an issue with my TMJ joint? Or something else all together.
Avatar n tn One of these two teeth had a root canal this fall and had 4 roots. I have had such severe throbbing pain in my upper jaw it is unbearable. The pain feels like it's between the teeth, but shoots to my temple, around my eye, and below my ear. I went back to my dentist this past week, and he removed one of the temporary crowns (the one that had the root canal), cleaned/dug around it, and replaced the temporary crown. He took an x-ray and said things looked ok.
