Seeing an endodontist and periodontist to evaluate pulpal and periodontal status is advised. If there is no evidence of pulpal and periodontal infection, seeing an occlusionist or prosthodontist to adjust occlusion is advised.
Going back to your dentist to have occlusal adjustment is advised.
i had a deep filling done yesterday and although i have taken 4 painkillers this morning nothing seemsto help the deep aching jaw pain andin top of cheek

But two weeks ago I started experiencing severe pain in my left jaw, that is only abated by pain killers. Without any sort of pain killers, my whole left jaw feels like it's on fire. Last Monday I went to the dentist. They didn't take any new xrays, and only referred to the ones from October, and told me they didn't know what my problem was. The thought my filling might be a little high, so filed it down, then told me that I may be grinding my teeth.
I went back yesterday. They said that the jaw pain is normal and should go away after a week?? I did have shots to numb it the first time. I'm not sure the very far back ones on my bottom on both sides and top left back one. My jaw still doesn't open all the way without hurting some kind of bad. Thanks for anyhelp you can give.

I'm 22 years old guy and just had my first filling done as I had developed deep cavity.
So.. After dentist finished job, he told me that I'll have tooth pain/tooth sensitivity for the few days, because he opened pulp ( or something else ) to look if it's healthy out there - It was very healthy out there, but he told me this tooth nerve can get inflamed at anytime and I'll need root canal.
The very next day I woke up and the front of my chin was numb and the front teeth on the right side where I had had the filling. Jaw pain was going into my ear. The next day could not reach the dentist went to emergency thought I was having a stroke. Doctor there said I had an infection gave me prescription for an antibiotic. Finally reached the dentist he sent me to an endodontist for root canal. Endodontist could not see where I needed root canal. He sent me to an oral surgeon.
After getting this tooth and the one behind it re-filled, I started having pain that night and especially the next day. I went back to the dentist a couple days later and they took x-rays and found nothing wrong, put me on penicillin just in case an infection was starting. Still no pain in the tooth or the one behind it; but severe pain in the jaw and ear and glands in the neck.
Hello. One week ago, I had two small cavities filled in my lower jaw on the right-hand side. I felt no pain during the procedure, and that night I felt only the pain that's typical after this kind of procedure. I had the procedure done Tuesday afternoon, and then Thursday afternoon I began to feel a pain that spread out over the area where the anesthesia was.
My upper and lower jaw, the area around my ear, that all hurt.
To make a long story short, I was finally diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndromd, and after about a week of medication to block the nerve pain, I was cured. The trick was that I found the right dentist/MD, Dr. Piper. He helps people with minor problems like mine, and people with very severe, long-standing problems. I was lucky to only be a few hours drive from him. But, he has many happy patients from all over the world.

It t is normal to experience jaw pain and other effects after a filling. However this pain usually does not last long and you can take some over-the-counter pain killers. Other causes could be either the restoration is too high causing excessive pressure on that tooth. It is possible to have some sensitivity from the white composite filling chemicals used .If the symptoms are severe and persistent see your dentist and get evaluated. I also had fillings on the same jaw soon after as well. The gum pain worsened after 3 weeks from the initial deep cleaning and is now also in the jaw. However, initially after the deep cleaning the pain was reduced for a couple of days.
The dentist believes this is cause by night teeth grinding, but don't think so. The pain starts at night while I am still awake and becomes worse when I lay down.
Will this pain go away or will it be there until the crown is on there and the other 2 are filled? When will this pain go away? I have read that if you have pain before you will have pain after but this is cripiling pain I am in...it's all the way into my jaw by my ear and down under my jaw bone by my throat. I had the root canal to get rid of of this pain but it's exactly like it was before. PLEASE HELP ME IT HURTS SOOOO BAD!!!!
I went to the dentist to get a very minor filling on Friday afternoon. Sunday, I noticed my mouth, throat, and lymph nodes on that side of my neck, and the left side of my jaw were swollen and crazy sore. I went back to the dentist yesterday, the first appointment that I could get, and he told me that I had inflammation from the Novocaine injection and told me to take motrin. I think I need antibiotics. I feel terrible, like I have the flu. My face hurts.
