Jaw pain from tooth filling

Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain from tooth filling

jaw-pain

Avatar m tn 5 days after the filling was done, I was still getting a lot of pain from both the tooth and my lower jaw. The tooth that was filled is extremely sensitive to the cold air test and the dentist suspects that there may be an infection in the tooth and has put me on a course of amoxycilin. (This seems plausable as there was a 10 day delay between my old filling breaking and being able to get it fixed). However I am still experiencing terrible pain in my lower jaw.
Avatar n tn Wisdom tooth pain can radiate and cause a lot of problems, especially if they become infected or are impacted. Fillings can also be sensitive after having them done. Especially ones where a white filling material is used due to the bonding materials used during treatment. It is reasuring that you Dentist has taken xrays which shows there is no apical infection present or any decay. If you still have problems I would go back to the Dentist you saw.
Avatar n tn Hi: I also have this Mysterious Pain in the Jaw??? I only had a filling??? Is it an infection? I've seen two or three dentists/doctors and nobody can figure it out... The pain is INTENSE! Need help... Please.. please.. please.
Avatar n tn When the anaesthetic wore of I had the most excruciating pain in the tooth and jaw. I went to my dentists and told him about the pain and he game me amoxycillian 250mg for 5 days and took out filling, re cleaned the tooth and filled it. The pain continued after taking 5 antibiotics and 400mg ibuprofens. Went to A&E early hours of morning pain so bad. Went back to dentists he took out my tooth and said I did not need antibiotics anymore as infection if present will drain out.
Avatar n tn ve been experiencing severe tooth/jaw pain in my left jaw area. Back in October I had a cleaning and some xrays done, which showed nothing but an old amalgamate filling. The dentist replaced it with a composite filling, and all was fine. I had been experiencing some minor sensitivity on both sides to cold (sometimes) and sweets, but that's "normal", I guess.
Avatar n tn The root canal was not easy - I felt some of treatment due to inflammation from crack and afterwards I had pain for a few days both in the tooth and jaw. My jaw pain is on left side only - same side as tooth. My crown was placed on tooth with temporary cement and left like that for months - but the off and on discomfort remained.
Avatar n tn Sometimes after getting a shot in the area near the tooth, there will be pain for a couple of days after. My gum swelled and was sore for atleast 4 days after my fillings were done. It does go away.
Avatar n tn and experienced extreme-dizziness/nausea/-pain which was almost unbearable for several hours (my wife prevented me from pulling the tooth on the spot as we live in a very rural area and no one could be contacted at night) after a huge dose of darvocet I did manage some sleep Next morning I called the dentist 1st thing (thurs) and went in---it was still hurting extremely bad -he x rayed and examined the tooth and said all seemed fine-that I likely bruised the puld or something of that nature as
Avatar n tn Try this. Grab a Q-tip and bite on it and see if theres pain on the tooth. That'll help you isolate the pain. If it hurts in the ear and jaw joint, I would then suspect that there may be a problem with the TMJ or other area. Do you have a problem opening and closing the mouth?
Avatar n tn The dentist put a bleaching solution in the tooth and a temporary filling on top. By Monday evening I was in severe pain, and went back to the dentist the next day. He removed the solution and filled the tooth. The next day I was in even more pain, despite taking the max dose of both Ibuprofen and paracetemol. He repeated the procedure again the next day, taking out the filling, claning the cavity and replacing the filling. He also prescribed a course of antibiotics.
750646 tn?1233312778 I now suffer from no gum pain whatsoever, but I have been taking Tylenol, Ibuprofin, and now Aleve DAILY just to make the dull tooth pain go away! It is on both my upper and lower jaw. There is extreme temperature senitivity on the tooth that he worked on. On top of that, I can still feel the extra cavity he told me he filled. I am making another appointment to try and get the filling replaced with metal again. This poses a problem--HIS RECEPTIONIST IS A HAG.
Avatar f tn Even though if you still having pain then you can use jaw strengthening exercises or jaw stretching exercises to get relief from jaw pain.
Avatar n tn The previous weeks, while I had my temp on, I had occasional low level pain in my jaw running from my ear to my chin. The dentist told me when the permanent went on, this pain would go away, but it has not and I still have intermittent jaw painn. There is no hot/cold sensivity or pain when biting and the crown feels completely normal. Is this something I should be concerned about? How long might it go on?
Avatar f tn i am having some terrible pains in my right hand side jaw area and up the same side of my face is this tooth ache reason i'm asking is there is no specific pain in my teeth thanks
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm 22 years old guy and just had my first filling done as I had developed deep cavity. So.. After dentist finished job, he told me that I'll have tooth pain/tooth sensitivity for the few days, because he opened pulp ( or something else ) to look if it's healthy out there - It was very healthy out there, but he told me this tooth nerve can get inflamed at anytime and I'll need root canal.
Avatar n tn Hi, I went for cleaning and full mouth x ray and had no problem at all. Dentist said that there is one molar which was not properly filled, it was filled above another filling , so he will clean up that and fill it again and put the crown. But I didn't feel any pain and no cavities. I did the filling only and said I don't need the crown and paid large copay amount. I felt numb for 2.
Avatar n tn I so feel for you, I have now had 4 root canals and crowns thanks to composite fillings. I had many old fillings, and when i replaced the first one i had "phantom" tooth pain, jaw pain. No problem on the tooth itself but they called it TMJ, months later in severe pain and at the ER they said you feel it in your jaw but it's a root. The best endodontist explained how white fillings leak often and cause such pain often reflecting from the tooth but not on it.
Avatar f tn ) The dentist said i need a filling after x-rays and not in the teeth that was feeling sensitive but in one of my molars way in the back of my upper right jaw. They said the cavity started from the inside of the teeth. I didn't believe this but i am not a certified dentist so i let them do their job and allowed them to drill a hole in my teeth and do the feeling. After that my tooth started feeling funny and my tongue would always end up feeling the area where they put the cavity.
Avatar f tn I would not think that you'd have arm issues from tooth filling. Nerves that get painful are usually going up toward the sinuses. Sometimes the filling is too large for the spot and causes pain. Did you get the filling checked? Did they do a root canal? Root canals today aren't bad at all. If you need it, you need it. The filling has possibly gone so deep it is touching a nerve. I understand dental phobia, man. It's bad. But if they can give you nitrous oxide, it helps.
Avatar m tn I suppose the filling may have some excess material from the bonding agent we apply to bond the filling to the tooth that may have coated the tooth during the process. I would continue the same treatment that you are applying that seems to alleviate the pain.
Avatar n tn Since then, this tooth has been hurting me, causing pain to radiate from my tooth to my jaw. It is sensitive - but not overly so - to cold and heat. I went to my dentist and he took an x-ray this week and saw no sign of decay or abscess. What could the problem be?
Avatar n tn I had a toothache on a left molar in November, which was satisfied with aspirin at the time. It progressed to the point where a root canal was suggested, but a lack of endodontists in my plan's roster led us to decide to replace the filling instead. It helped for a few weeks. The pain and sensitivity came back with a vengeance last week; I checked with my PCP and got diagnosed with an ear infection, for which I am on the 4th day of Zithromax. He also gave me Vicodin for the jaw pain.
Avatar n tn i had a deep filling done yesterday and although i have taken 4 painkillers this morning nothing seemsto help the deep aching jaw pain andin top of cheek This discussion is related to pain and sensitivity after filling on different tooth.
Avatar m tn I had felt some odd pains in this tooth before that was ever mentioned, and I thought it was strange to have pain in a tooth with no nerve or pulp in it. As I have gotten older, the tooth is still there, without a crown or anything to cover it, and it seems to be holding up well. My problem now, however, is that about once a week, the tooth in question begins to throb like a toothache, sending sharp pains into my jaw and ear.
Avatar n tn Ok ive had fillings on my bottom molars on the right and left side of my mouth, i went last year to my dentist for a re filling for both, soon after that i started getting a sharp pain only on my right upper molar above the bottom one which i just got the filling.
161596 tn?1698503553 Hi- I'm a 39 year old female who is experiencing lower right jaw pain. The pain began about 4 weeks ago, wherein I had a brief respite of pain for about a week, then the pain returned and worse than before. I developed a sore throat and right enlarged tonsil. The throat remains sore. I went to my dentist and after a panoramic xray, she saw nothing wrong.
