920032 tn?1550680156 I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.
Avatar f tn If you are having anxiety this bad why are they not treating that? It truly is a real problem for people. Hang in there and try to figure out if there is something that triggers this to happen. Sucking on some ice or drinking a coke can help the asthma too if you don't have an emergency inhaler. A cold wash cloth around your throat can help too. Goodluck.

Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat

Avatar f tn Advair Discus is a dry powder medication. It has large particles of powder that land on the vocal cords and irritate them. While inhaled steroids can cause this problem on there own, I have found the the dry powder medications are much worse for this. As a fellow singer, I recommend that you try the HFA version of Advair or Symbicort. Symbicort tends to be a little cheaper. It works great for most people, but I didn't metabolize it well at all and nose dived on it.
Avatar n tn Seratide is a two in one inhaler comprising a steroid and a long acting bronchilator. Apparently the long acting part can make ectopics worse and my doctor is thinking of bringing the strength down eventually to just a steroid. I have had a monitor on overnight at the hospital last year where they caught thousands of ectopics, one every third beat, but they said they are just ectopics and to learn to manage them better. Easier said than done!
Avatar f tn This morning I woke up with a pain in my upper back, around shoulder blade, still hard time breathing deep breaths and an excruciating headache. Is it possible I have a missed pulmonary embolism or is this intact how bronchitis is diagnosed and acts? I forgot to mention I have NO cough...only when using inhaler. Thank you!
Avatar n tn Hello Terrikatt, It states you posted your comments 16 hours ago. I think it's time to get a second opinion. Don't know what proair is. I'm guessing it's an asthma medication. Asthma as you know can get quite serious. Perhaps you should seek medical attention for your daughter. By this I don't mean taking her back to the pediatrician. I think you might consider going to your nearest hospital and going to the emergency department.
Avatar f tn This rapid heart beat and shakiness that accompanies it is more of a nuisance than a real threat, unless you have underlying heart disease. That you need to take this inhaler frequently or regularly, is an indication that your asthma is not well controlled and that you should be on one or more long-acting medicines for it.
Avatar n tn Is there a significant difference between using an albuterol inhaler as opposed to a Combivent inhaler? I have a family member that receives an extra monthly Combivent inhaler but am not sure if it is safe to use long term instead of the albuterol I was prescribed.
Avatar m tn The wrong technique increase the amount of steroid that gets into the symstem. If you use any HFA version of any med without a spacer, only about 20% of the medication gets to the lungs. The rest gets into the general system. If you are using a dry powder inhaler like the Advair Discus or Asmanex Twisthaler, the proper inhalation rate is essential. Have your doctor check your technique to make your medication as effective as possible. I hope that helps. God bless.
212161 tn?1599427282 I have QVAR (beclomethasone) that is a steroid. The quick relief inhalers like albuterol will have an adrenergic effect and cause the heart rate to increase temporarily. My HR increase usually lasts about 15 minutes. I see that Flovent and Advair are both steroidal inhalers.
Avatar m tn i was 3 months pregnant when i started to have breathing problems it was really bad i also had chest pains as well than i decided to end the pregnancy because breathing was really bad since than i've in and out hospital my gp prescribed me a blue inhaler which did'nt help than he changed it to a brown inhaler that did'nt help either than prescribed a pink one which i'am using now but i dont think it's working because there is still no difference i still have verybad chest p
Avatar f tn I thought I was on top of the asthma until our emergency visit and then I started thinking there was probably a lot more to learn than I knew. This is such a terrible thing for anyone to have, especially children.I want this to stop and I don't want to feel like I am the only one that this happens to.Please give your suggestions and tricks on how to decrease the asthma symptons.
Avatar f tn I am okay living with all of them, except the skin flushing, which hurts a lot sometimes, like a moderately severe sunburn (similar to the feeling of a sunburn almost bad enough to blister, but not quite). It hurts the most when the flushing happens on my eyelids, nose, and palms. Does anyone have an explanation for these undiagnosed symptoms? All of the following conditions have been officially diagnosed.
178698 tn?1228774338 Hi, I understand your concerns. I too am asthmatic. I was told by my MD that it is important to continue all asthma medications throughout pregnancy and that it will not harm the baby at all. It is true that you need to breath without distress. You need the extra oxygen flow since you have more blood to pump to the baby. Your distress also puts the baby in distress too. Asthma medications have been around for many years and I don't recall any reporting of a baby being harmed from it.
Avatar f tn P i was prescribed a proair. Just looking ahead for future reference I rarely use it.
Avatar n tn It is very hard to describe. Maybe it would be like having a corset on or a belt around your ribcage. It only lasts for less than 10 seconds and then I can get the rest of my yawn. Anyway, I also have a very sensitive tummy but I’ve had an endoscopy and a Bravo PH test and both were normal. The PH only got out of hand when I ate food that bother me…such as oranges or tomatoes. I am taking thyroxin for hypothyroidism…most of my symptoms are controlled but not all of them.
Avatar f tn You are sufferring from chronic bronchitis. Proair is fine. But that won't solve your problem. You need to start a course of antibiotics. Start with Capsule amoxyclav (1 capsule 3 times a day for 2 weeks). Take 1 tablet cetrizine twice daily fro 2 weeks. The, you can start using ADVAIR once daily. But, it will be advisable to consult a pulmonologist.
Avatar f tn Get a peak flow meter and use it before and after you use the inhaler, this helps to give you a visual that the medication is working and all the feelings are due to stress and anixety. It took me roughly 4 months of that to lose the anixety I felt when I started to get asthma symptoms.
