Common Questions and Answers about Is dha in breast milk

dha

Avatar f tn My theory is, if breast milk is so much better for a baby than formula, then why do you need to feed a every 2 to 3 hours on breast milk and every 3 to 4 hours on formula? Breast milk is natural, so it can be deemed as "better" and easier on the babys tummy, but formula has a garenteed amount of vitamins and minerals in every serving and as a mommy, i want to make sure my baby is getting all the needed vitamins and minerals in every feeding.
Avatar n tn he able to focus things. We are supplementing him with cod liver for DHA and Vit.A boost... is your son on breast milk or formula?
223372 tn?1240920676 We had tried infamil lipil and our daughter had constipation problems... we switched to similac and she hasn't had a problem since... but every child's system is different... i couldn't breastfeed after 4 weeks of trying i still hadn't gotten my milk in so started just doing bottles....
Avatar n tn I drink fat free or skim just because if you look at how much fat is in milk..it's disgusting even 2% except my bf just came home with two jugs if 1%...
Avatar f tn Your prenatals :) also milk is not as important during pregnancy as you might think, my dr even says only 1 cup a day is plenty and the milk you do drink is for you not baby :) if they NEED to they can even take the calcium from your teeth so they arent missing out on as much as you think :)
Avatar f tn I like nature made with DHA but I don't think the brand is very important I just bought Safeway brand with DHA it has 2 pills system and it was way more affordable.
Avatar f tn They are prescription so I get them for free which is nice, without insurance they are only $10. But they have dha and other supplements to help with morning sickness and stuff. Love them.
Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
Avatar f tn I have found when I take them I can not make a bowel movement. Is there any way I can not take prenatals and just take certian vitamins or any natural remedies that can help?
Avatar f tn The DHA supplements r believed 2 help brain development, but they are NOT proven 2 help anything. That's what my doctor told me. I wouldn't worry so much...DHA in prenatals is a relatively new thing...take our moms 4 instance, they didn't take DHA and we're obviously fine!!
Avatar m tn That most probably is prolactin elevation which can cause female hormones to increase in males so that there is sexual dysfunction and pain in the nipple area. Having discharge from the nipples can occur too. I did experience that when I was on standard antipsychotics and its a common side effect. It depends on its severity. Having breast milk is rare but that can happen. It should go away in time. However keep your doctor informed and they will follow up.
789236 tn?1329893431 Is it possible for milk to be in a woman's breast (right)who is not having sex....?
7757724 tn?1396279586 Formula companies work very hard to make sure all the nutrients and everything that baby gets from breast milk are in formula. (You can actually donate breast milk to these companies for research purposes) the only differences are the antibodies that breast milk has (which only protect baby for the first 6 months or so) and that breast milk changes depending upon what mom eats.... Formula has all the same vitamins and minerals as well as DHA and ARA which are important for brain development.
1276890 tn?1271027818 s Oil with DHA is a completely vegan source (made with red algae) and it tastes great, not fishy! My kids and I take it in our smoothie and my husband just takes it on a spoon. It is awesome stuff. Other than that, off the top I would say avacados and nuts have good oils.
Avatar f tn So, nursing is a wonderful experience where the baby takes the milk straight from the breast---- but bottles with expressed breast milk in them so the baby gets that same nourishment is handy at times too. Does that answer your question?
Avatar f tn I dont think it matters the size for your breast in order to breast feed. You still have a while to go before you may start seeing growth in your breast. After the baby is born is when you will develop colostrum and milk...
Avatar m tn thanks Teak, I dont want to sound a nag but how are we so sure that breast milk getting on the penis is no risk.
Avatar f tn The FDA says that it is safer to have DHA from a non fish source. I say the DHA is straight from the fish and not good to take! I would not take it or stop. I take the one Enfimil makes and it is I think $11 a month from Walmart and it is from a none fish source. I would tell your ob you wnat another one if you don't want that one!
10939157 tn?1413971264 Nestle Good Start with DHA and ARA Natural Cultures had the highest review standing. DHA and ARA are important in the promotion of immune system function, growth and development, as well as, eyes and brain. This formula topped the list, as it contains "comfort proteins," 100 percent whey protein from cow's milk. It easily breaks down during digestion and is available in powder, concentrate, and ready-to-feed preparations.
Avatar n tn Idk what is in the pills you are talking about but if it doesnt have dha/epa i would suggest going ahead and taking actual prenatal vitamins. Dha is to help with brain development.
2083175 tn?1336082312 Breast milk contains HIV, is there any risk of transmission if a baby were to throw up that milk onto you?
Avatar f tn I love citranatal
Avatar f tn I am vegetarian ad well and tried gummies but they made my sick, tried ine a day but theh also made me sick and now I am taking enfamil. The little dha pill is not fishy like the others were, they contain no fish, but the pill has fish but it isn't a strong smell or flavor. They do not make me sick at all. I take them with milk before bed but I have also taken them with water no problem.
Avatar f tn Yes it's very normal... Depending on how your flow is you could either do the breast pads or what worked for me and saved me money was using newborn diapers...
4194487 tn?1370046144 with my son I breast fed him or I thought I was feeding him but come to find out my breast ducts had closed( those are the tubes and holes where the milk come from) my son ended up having colic because he was not receiving enough milk in from him sucking on my empty breast he had gas from all the air he was sucking in the in. you should have your doctor check your breast just to be safe.
Avatar f tn Hello, Most of the breast-fed babies develop lactose intolerance which usually self corrects but not always if it is a cow milk or a formula milk "problem" or allergy/intolrance with some dietary ingredient. Most babies with milk allergy are allergic to cow’s milk protein, while others are allergic to soy protein, and some to both. Breast-fed infants normally have stools that look like watery, yellow cottage cheese.
Avatar f tn You dont have breast milk till the baby comes, but i cant remember the name for it right now, its a clear fluid, premilk is what i call it. Its normal, some people dont start having their boobs leak till second trimester, it is possible to start leaking in the first trimester, wear breast pads if you're leaking quite a bit.
Avatar f tn I forgot I'll have to take them while I breast feed. Ughhh I hate them but I'll do whatever is necessary for my baby..
