Avatar f tn My theory is, if breast milk is so much better for a baby than formula, then why do you need to feed a every 2 to 3 hours on breast milk and every 3 to 4 hours on formula? Breast milk is natural, so it can be deemed as "better" and easier on the babys tummy, but formula has a garenteed amount of vitamins and minerals in every serving and as a mommy, i want to make sure my baby is getting all the needed vitamins and minerals in every feeding.
Avatar n tn he able to focus things. We are supplementing him with cod liver for DHA and Vit.A boost... is your son on breast milk or formula?

Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
7757724 tn?1396279586 Formula companies work very hard to make sure all the nutrients and everything that baby gets from breast milk are in formula. (You can actually donate breast milk to these companies for research purposes) the only differences are the antibodies that breast milk has (which only protect baby for the first 6 months or so) and that breast milk changes depending upon what mom eats.... Formula has all the same vitamins and minerals as well as DHA and ARA which are important for brain development.
Avatar f tn I love citranatal
10939157 tn?1413971264 Nestle Good Start with DHA and ARA Natural Cultures had the highest review standing. DHA and ARA are important in the promotion of immune system function, growth and development, as well as, eyes and brain. This formula topped the list, as it contains "comfort proteins," 100 percent whey protein from cow's milk. It easily breaks down during digestion and is available in powder, concentrate, and ready-to-feed preparations.
Avatar f tn s changed from soy milk to almond milk and coconut milk and now regular milk throughout my pregnancy depending on what triggered my nausea). There's something in the milk that helps me keep it all down, and then it helps me fall asleep. I'll wake up sick feeling once in a while but fall asleep again, so it's not too bad. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn Not me!!! I've been taking prenatals since I had my first baby 10 years ago..I take them when I'm not pregnant..I'm pregnant with my 4th & will still keep taking them along with my DHA omega 3 prenatals after I have this baby because it's very important while you breastfeed.....
Avatar f tn t drinking any milk) it became more like a comfort thing to her n i rarely got more than an hour at a time of rest. I remember being so exhausted and in so much pain all the time. I think I'm just traumatized from my experience with her lol.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem. I take prescription prenataland they have dha in them.. OMG they are gross. I was getting sick like crazy when i took them. My Dr told me to start taking them at night with a meal. Well I've found that chocolate milk works. So i take them on a full stomach with my chocolate milk and i haven't had any problems.
Avatar f tn When will you start to get milk in your breast? I am 31 weeks and have yet to get mine, it makes me nervous cause I plan on breast feeding.
Avatar f tn Does ur prenatal vitamins have dha? Is it ok to take them tablets with dha? The one i take doesn't have it but im trying to get gummies to substitute but all gummies seem to have dha.
Avatar f tn Okay so my current prenatal vitamin does not have Dha in it...is it possible for me to take a Dha vitamin in conjunction with my prenatal vitamin?...if so what is a good brand to take?
6880636 tn?1393491685 Thing is he's done soo much of his own research that he's like a walking info leaflet on breast milk lol he keeps saying about antibodies and it helping digestion n all sorts which I don't doubt is true he jus says he doesn't understand why she wouldn't even try or to pump when this special liquid gold is freely available, he goes on at me all the time so I hate t think how much he tries to 'persuade' her!
944903 tn?1269268918 m 37 weeks pregnant right now and was never told by either my RE or obgyn to take any additional vitamins than the prenatal vitamin they prescribed. I do drink a lot of milk, though, so I do get additional calcium from that. You could always check with your doctor, but I would think a regular prenatal vitamin would be sufficient....ideally one with DHA, unless you already get enough omega-3 in your diet.
5612058 tn?1373576034 Enough wet and poopy diapers and if the baby is thriving. Breastfeeding is a supply and demand thing so just let baby eat and you will produce enough. Make sure you drink water and stay hydrated.
Avatar f tn Supplementation with ultra - refined EPA / DHA fish oil concentrate is also important for the mother who is breast feeding her child to maintain the DHA levels in her breast milk that are crucial for the development of a young baby’s still rapidly growing brain
Avatar f tn usually it is given on the 1st trimester... coz some women throw up during that time, thats the only med that doctors prescribed.. then at the 2nd trimester, you're to be prescribed prenatals.. and pregnancy milk.. coz you need calcium and iron.. plus DHA for baby's brain development...
