Is ciprodex an antibiotic

Common Questions and Answers about Is ciprodex an antibiotic

ciprodex

Avatar n tn Excellent advice, merceditas. Ciprodex otic is an antibiotic ear drop that combines the antibiotic ciprofloxacin with the glucocorticoid steroid dexamethasone. While both of these things are safe to use on a dog, human-strength drugs are often too strong to be used on our much-smaller four-legged companions, and what starts out as a well-meaning gesture quickly turns into a medical emergency far bigger than the original problem.
Avatar m tn I have had for the last 5 months, fluid leaking from ear, A thick yellow sometimes clear puss like fluid, Cause? Infection, I was prescribed ciprodex a week ago, Im suppose to take it for 14 days and then get surgery to patch a hole in my left ear. The fluid is still leaking, all the time, How can the medication work if my ears wont stay dry? The fluid is probably blocking the medication from actually working.
93654 tn?1247499334 My understanding is that ciprodex is an ear drop so you definitely need to stop using it in the eye. It may have a different pH than eye drops and might cause significant irritation - but not usually a major problem. Please have your doctor make you an appointment with an ophthalmologist and explain to the primary care docor that the ciprodex drops are not for the eye.
Avatar f tn About 6 months after this problem recurred, I was prescribed the same antibiotic drug (without being cultured). Several days later I felt an improvement, however, ever since things have not been the same: I still have UTI symptoms (burning sensation while urinating, during sexual intercourse and physical activity; lower abdominal pain; higher urination frequency; lack of ability to control when I pee; smaller urine volume). There is no trace of blood in my urine.
Avatar m tn On Monday morning I woke with an ear infection. I went to the doctor right away and was given Otic Edge, told to continue an antibiotic I was already on, to call if it wasn't felling better in a couple of days, and to schedule a recheck for a week later. Thursday, my ear still felt plugged, I was getting sharp pains, and ringing so I went back to the doctor. He said that there is alot of drainage in there and it kinda looked like swimmer's ear.
Avatar m tn I now also have burning/freezing pain in both legs that is sometimes unbearable (especially at nights) and body-wide twitching 1- I have read that Cipro can have peripheral neuropathy, panic attacks and twitching as side effect that can start (or go on) even months after discontinuation of medication. I know this is more common with the oral/IV Cipro but I may have used the CiproDex for longer duration that was prescribed. I believe that I was misdiagnosed with anxiety and hyperthyroidism.
Avatar m tn Hey! So this all started about two months ago when I decided it would be a good idea to self-irrigate my ear after experiencing a lot of wax. I got a syringe and some warm water and just started blasting into my right ear canal. It didn't end up being successful as the wax never actually did come out, but I then started having earaches that have never fully healed. I've been to the doctor 4 times since then.
Avatar m tn treated with CiproDex otic solution,no response, another round of CiproDex this time combined with Azithromycin. Left eyelid started twitching few days after ear infection/CiproDex treatment. Gradually, I started having tingling in my legs. Also had three panic attacks with heart beat +180 bpm. diagnosed with borderline hyperthyroidism (TSH 0.32 and FT4 24) and all symptoms were attributed to thyroid problem. The thyroid is back to normal now without any thyroid meds.
Avatar n tn The popping and the hearing loss could indicate that the tubes are blocked. The tubes can be opened by antibiotic or steroid drops. Sometimes microscopic debridement is done to open up the tubes. Check with your doctor regarding this. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn It usually does take some time to get better but hopefully you are on the road to recovery. Now that you have tubes in your ears be extra careful not to get water in your ears when you shower and it's best not to submerge your whole head in a pool or jacuzzi because that can cause another infection.I noticed your other post about the circle. My husband hasn't had any problem with dry mouth he just hates the taste of it when it drains down his throat.
Avatar f tn Hey all, i had gonorrhea and got ciprodex and doxy. I noticed that my sperm is really watery and see-thru and my balls warms since then. Is it normal? Any chance i still have the gonorreah/some other infection?
Avatar m tn I had ear infection 14 months ago which was treated with ciprodex.

1899725 tn?1321500363 I think you are on the right track. Getting him to an ENT is probably the only thing that will resolve it. GERD and ear infections seem to go hand in hand. Lucky he has only had a few. 5 weeks is way too long!
Avatar f tn Most likely the antibiotic was prematurely discontinued, or she has an infection elsewhere and reinfected herself when she rubbed her eye. Similarly helibactor pylori requres administration of three different antibiotics (tripple therapy) to eliminate the infection in the stomach from this troublesome organism. I am in no position to recommend treatment for your mother's eye infection, but it would be reasonable and prudent to continue antibiotic treatment with one or more antibiotics.

Avatar f tn There are good reasons for a physician bringing blood levels of an antibiotic up to a certain level, and if this is not done the liklihood of developing an antibiotic resistant bacteria increases, endangering not only the patient but the rest of the human race increases. Follow the physician's instructions and do not discourage your friend from doing so.
Avatar n tn Yes you will be fine.
Avatar n tn In my NON-medical-professional opinion, I think he needs both antibiotics and surgery to close up the leak. Cipro is a very strong antibiotic, and many antibiotics now stay in the system for many days beyond the time they are discontinued. His surgeons may not want to put him through surgery depending on the general state of your father's health right now. Many times these leaks will heal and seal up on their own given a little time.
Avatar n tn After unprotected intercourse and oral sex with a new girlfriend I soon developed bleeding of the gums and an intermittent light burning in the prostate area. Is Staphylococcus considered an STD and will the antibiotic Microbid kill it? Thank you.
Avatar m tn ve had oral sex for the first time about a month ago, the following day or two, i had a sore throat, difficulties swallowing and ***** smell in my mouth, suspected gonorrhea, and the pharmacist gave an antibiotic which was effective, almost all symptoms went away within a week-10days. Last week I've had vaginal sex for the first time WITH a condom on, only when she came, she took it off and jerked me until i ejaculated.
Avatar m tn I just recently got my wisdom teeth out and was prescribed an antibiotic for it. i am currently taking the antibiotic and stopped taking the pain killer they gave me about 4 days ago. i have an upcoming test and was maybe going to take some adderall to help me study. i do not have ADD and am not prescribed adderall. i know it may be harmful but i have done it in the past and i seemed to be fine. i was wondering if maybe taking the adderall while on the antibiotic would be a problem?
Avatar m tn Had a question about Azithromycn. I know that 2g in a single dose is protocol for a gonorrhea infection. Would the efficacy of this drug & dosage to cure the disease be the same if 1 gram was taken on one day and another 1 gram the next? I assume this regimen would have the potential to lessen the possible GI side effects.
Avatar f tn In certain situations your physician may decide that antibiotic therapy is appropriate. When an antibiotic is deemed necessary, Zithromax (azithromycin) is commonly used. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that is effective against M pneumonia. But, if the sinusitis is caused by a fungus or virus azithromycin will not help. In some cases, sinusitis can last for several weeks before it resolves.
Avatar f tn I have been on an antibiotic for a uti for 6 days now but I am still having pelvic pain and urinary frequency. How long until I get relief?
Avatar f tn Yes the antibiotic would stand the same (very high) chance of working compared to some infected for a couple of weeks for example. A proof of cure test is usually a good idea though so have a urine test for gon/chlamydia. Wait until your next regular check for hiv/hep c/syph.
