I also took biaxin for a throat problem a week ago. Doc gave me 500mg pills twice a day for 5 days. and I took them for 3 days then stopped for 2 day then finished the last 2 days after cause I found out that I have to do all of them. Would this have cured anyt sti? Sorry for long question doc just want everything answered at once.

I've had a sore throat off and on (mostly on) for about 3 weeks now. I went to the doctor last Friday and was prescribed Biaxin 500mg twice per day. I've been doing this for 5 days now and there's been no improvement. The pain seems to move around my throat and neck area but its always intense. Yesterday it was below the larynx and today it`s mostly below my ear on the left side. Last Saturday was the last day that I had little or no pain.

I have a bunch of symptoms that im afraid may indicate something serious. blotchy rash on my neck, chest palms and groin; loss of sensation and discoloration of my penis; cold sweats; constipation and difficulty urinating w no pain involved. I've had a sinus infection and ear infection for sometime now but just started taking biaxin yesterday. Not much improvement..could I have some kidney or liver issues due to years of cocaine abuse?

He has been on 35+ antibotics for infections- pneumonia,bronchitis,ear infection, sinus infections etc. He was on an antibotic 2 weeks ago for an ear infect and 4 days ago he was coughing so bad his dr ordered sinus x ray and he has a bad maxillary infection on both sides. He has been taking Biaxin for 4 days now and is running 102.2 fever tonight. He has bad reflux- we had a ph probe study done. his sinuses are formed weird.

I will probably be safe with the clarith (and I know is also called biaxin, but thanks for pointing that out!). I finished that and here it is 2 days later, and I am feeling run down again and now I have a spot under my left ear that is sore and my ear canal is sore as well. My lungs are still congested and producing greenish mucous. An ultrasound did reveal a small cyst on my thyroid, but no reall attention is being paid to that right now. Something minor is also going on with my liver- my NP asked if I take a lot of tylenol.

t get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.

This is a strong antibiotic so read up on all side effects. I can tell you one of the side effects is nightmares so don't take this med when going to sleep. And it's alway good to take some probiotics when taking antibiotic. Taking Cleritin: This will help clear up the inflamation and swelling.

Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?

just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. I would suggest you press you doc to focus on your yeast status and deal with it. The first step is to test you for what fungal infection you may have. If your current doc blows you off, I'd find another doc, perhaps an immunologist, but maybe better is an openminded internist or GP, since specialists seem to get lost in the weeds to often. That's what I would do first: see another doc about the fungal infection.

BUT he gave me a different antibiotic for the sinus infection called Biaxin, for acute sinusitis, which has been working wonders after one day on it. But I just read that Biaxin is given to HIV/AIDS patients for Mycobacterium avium complex!!!! Is it possible that he did an HIV test without my knowledge and is now trying to treat me for it????

Hey, I did ask why he was putting me on the Biaxin and he said the intended use with it was for antimicrobial bugs. Do Doxy destroys spirrochetes, Flagyl destroys cysts and the Biaxin destroys antimicrobial bugs..... I just don't know if I should get a second opinion or what?!?!?! Grrrrrr.

Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!
