1138687 tn?1548643978 I will probably be safe with the clarith (and I know is also called biaxin, but thanks for pointing that out!). But tomorrow I will be talking with my doctor and thanks so much for this information, it is very helpful. It's just also been stressful the past few days so it's hard for me to think clearly about what I will do. I'll give an update, tahnks again!!
Avatar f tn I do not have a lyme dx but I am working with my neurologist on it...I am also looking for an LLMD in my area. I am sure that I will have no trouble finding one near Philadelphia. I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects.
Avatar f tn in midafternoon, a quiet time to read or something relaxing and see if that gets you past the tired time, rather than trying to fight it. I was on Biaxin but not Tindamax, and anyway everyone is different, esp in Lymelands. Be kind to your body!
Avatar f tn Often yeast infections follow treatment for UTIs because the "good" bacteria in your body is killed along with the bad by the antibiotic...and the "good" is what keeps the yeast in your body from taking over. Sometimes yeast infections mimic UTIs at first. I hate to say it, but you should get another urinalysis to make sure your UTI wasn't resistant to the antibiotic (and not gone) and then treat for a yeast infection with Miconozole, or something similar (ask your Dr.
723952 tn?1231857532 Hey, I did ask why he was putting me on the Biaxin and he said the intended use with it was for antimicrobial bugs. Do Doxy destroys spirrochetes, Flagyl destroys cysts and the Biaxin destroys antimicrobial bugs..... I just don't know if I should get a second opinion or what?!?!?! Grrrrrr.
1094370 tn?1317134825 Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!
4939681 tn?1361299299 Biaxin is well known for causing a metallic taste in the mouth. It's not a herx or acid reflux. Every time I used it (and every time many other Lymies used it) that metallic taste stayed the entire course and never diminished. I guess there could be a few people who didn't have that taste----- but then, we're all different aren't we?
Avatar m tn Biaxin (clarithromycin) is an antibiotic related to azithromycin which is widely used to treat STIs however biaxin is not well studies for STI treatment or prevention. As a result, while it is likely that biaxin may be effective against common bacterial STIs, there are not good data to say this with confidence. Most women do not have STIS and it is unlikely that your partner had and STI or if she did, you may not have acquired one.
Avatar m tn Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the answer...just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. These all have been taken throughtout the last year since exposure. Would Biaxin or amoxicial cure syphlis by themselves?. no more questions from me so I would like to thank you for your time!.
Avatar f tn I'm going through something similar. I don't have an answer for you, but some more data that might be useful in talking to your drs. When I started on abx about 18 mos ago, I noticed some fairly low level redness and itchiness in the vulvar area. Mentioned it to my LLMD but said I could tolerate it. It went on like that for about a year, taking abx and Florastor (which is a 'good' yeast [S.
1065234 tn?1254882617 t handle the biaxin so again she prescribed another z-pack. I finished that and here it is 2 days later, and I am feeling run down again and now I have a spot under my left ear that is sore and my ear canal is sore as well. My lungs are still congested and producing greenish mucous. An ultrasound did reveal a small cyst on my thyroid, but no reall attention is being paid to that right now. Something minor is also going on with my liver- my NP asked if I take a lot of tylenol.
Avatar f tn the doc said Bactrim was the only thing he could prescribe for this UTI that he could take while taking Sotalol. No one mentioned this when they started the Sotalol. So - questions - 1. how frequent is extreme nausea a factor with Sotalol? 2. Does anyone know what helps the nausea? 3. I am concerned with this antibiotic challenge as has chronic bronchitis and COPD and get URI that often need antibiotic Rx...Anyone else know about this?
4939681 tn?1361299299 Plaquenil is often perceived as an anti-arthritis drug used to treat connective tissue disorders. What it does is make the body more alkaline. My doc explained that he prescribes it with Biaxin (Clarithromycin-an intracellular abx) because by making the body more alkaline, the Biaxin can more easily penetrate the body's cells, which makes it up to 40% more effective. There is the common belief that inflammation causes pain.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Urethritis and was told I had a UTI, but treated for Chlamydia and Gonorhea as well. I was also given a prescription of Biaxin. The problem is I'm still having a discharge after the treatment I received Thursday night. I am curious as to how long it usually takes for this to stop after being treated for those two? If it is supposed to stop almost immediately than I should probably go back in, if it takes 3-4 days, then maybe I should wait for the test results.
1464587 tn?1307491605 Generic for Biaxin (Clarithromycin) is an antibiotic prescribed to treat/prevent a wide variety of bacterial infections, International Drug Mart
Avatar f tn I was on Biaxin, which is brand name for clarithromycin. Why did your MD not check the box for generic, which is generally a lot cheaper but is technically the same drug? It's a fairly common drug. If you order online from a reputable/well-known website, you may be able to get a better price than at the corner pharmacy. If you belong to WalMart or perhaps Target or similar stores, I understand their pharmacy charges are quite reasonable.
Avatar m tn He gave me a prescription for biaxin, 2x a day for ten days. After doing some digging, I learned about oral gonorrhea. Could this possibly be what I have? And if so can it be cured by biaxin (antibiotic)?
Avatar n tn m allergic to Penicillin and Sulfa, I just finished taking Doxycycline for a week and feel better. Thanks for the information.
Avatar f tn I was on Biaxin alone for 3mos and felt semi normal which for me is great. LLMD added Doxy and it has made all my symptoms come back worse than before. I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?
Avatar m tn My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am. It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down. I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue. Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?
1094370 tn?1317134825 Thanks. I'm not on doxy....I'm taking Biaxin (1 pill 2x per day) and Amoxicillian (2 pills 2x per day). Where I messed up was I thought I should only be taking 1 pill of each 2x per day so I've been giving the lyme a break by two pills a day of amoxicillian. Not anymore....die lyme....die!!!!
9704378 tn?1553726192 @chiania That's good. I guess me being a FTM, I want nothing to go wrong.
Avatar n tn facility doctor told me I probably had chronic bronchitis (with some post nasal drip), and prescribed Biaxin 500mg 2x for 10 days. Recently, my physician told me I may have allergies and told me to take Claritin and Albuterol (only been on Claritin intermittently since my breathing is good, despite the sometimes slight wheezing). Cough is sometimes 'dry', and at other times 'productive', but with clear fluid that I usually swallow again.
Avatar f tn ve been taking the medicine for at least 10 or 11 days at 1000 milgrams of each both biaxin and flagyl daily..and should have stop taking them along time ago ..is this common?
