biaxin

Avatar f tn I do not have a lyme dx but I am working with my neurologist on it...I am also looking for an LLMD in my area. I am sure that I will have no trouble finding one near Philadelphia. I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects.
Avatar m tn Based on your exposure and symptoms, you probably had no STD, and if you did, Biaxin would usually clear chlamydia, NGU, and maybe gonorrhea. To be 100% certain, if not tested for these before you were treated, you should be tested a couple of weeks after you finish the Biaxin.
Avatar m tn I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
Avatar m tn If I was infected with any of the above, would an 8 day course of Biaxin resolved these? And yes it was 8 days and not the usual 10 for whatever reason. 2. I've read on this site that most of these STD's resolve themselves within a few months even without treatment, but other medical and government websites specifically say the exact opposite and say only way to get rid of infection is to seek treatment. Which is it?
Avatar f tn Then last week at followup Renal Clinic visit - he had UTI and they Rx antibiotic...the doc said Bactrim was the only thing he could prescribe for this UTI that he could take while taking Sotalol. No one mentioned this when they started the Sotalol. So - questions - 1. how frequent is extreme nausea a factor with Sotalol? 2. Does anyone know what helps the nausea? 3. I am concerned with this antibiotic challenge as has chronic bronchitis and COPD and get URI that often need antibiotic Rx..
Avatar n tn I had 2 women perform oral sex on me and about 2-3 months later I had a chest cold and my doctor gave me biaxin 2x500mg a day for 10 days. then a few months later had amoxicillian 3x500mg a day for 10 days for another unrelated infection (my docs loves to give antibiotics) If I did get a std like gonnerea or clymidia or anything else that is bacterial would the biaxin get rid of it?...keep in mind I have had no unprotested sexual intercourse just received oral from a women.
723952 tn?1231857532 they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.
1464587 tn?1307491605 the doctor and I decided that I should try a differnt antibiotic so we switched to the Generic form of Biaxin.... Clarithromycin...... I was on it for 2 months and dropped 18 pounds and 3/4 of my hair..... we pulled out what was in the shower drain alone and you could of made a wig out of it pretty much...... the only other symptoms I had while on this medicine apart from the hair loss is that my hands would swell and night......I had excessive bruising all over.....
Avatar f tn Often yeast infections follow treatment for UTIs because the "good" bacteria in your body is killed along with the bad by the antibiotic...and the "good" is what keeps the yeast in your body from taking over. Sometimes yeast infections mimic UTIs at first. I hate to say it, but you should get another urinalysis to make sure your UTI wasn't resistant to the antibiotic (and not gone) and then treat for a yeast infection with Miconozole, or something similar (ask your Dr.
4939681 tn?1361299299 My LLMD never called me back, so I made the executive decision to stop the Biaxin and start back on the doxy and azith. It was only 1.5 days so I'm thinking no harm no foul. I don't think that odd taste was acid reflux related. I think it was my body telling me it could just not tolerate the med. Some things, like knowing you have Lyme, your body makes pretty obvious. Body to self: "This NOT a herx! I HATE whatever you just put in me! PLEASE STOP NOW!
1094370 tn?1317134825 My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though! That is the highest it's been in a long time so that is good news! The last few days, I seem to be feeling a bit better.
Avatar f tn Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Urethritis and was told I had a UTI, but treated for Chlamydia and Gonorhea as well. I was also given a prescription of Biaxin. The problem is I'm still having a discharge after the treatment I received Thursday night. I am curious as to how long it usually takes for this to stop after being treated for those two? If it is supposed to stop almost immediately than I should probably go back in, if it takes 3-4 days, then maybe I should wait for the test results.
Avatar f tn My LLMD is changing my antibiotic treatment to Omnicef and Biaxin for 3 more months. Mainly because he believes Flagyl was responsible for my hormone imbalance and I wasn't able to keep it down since I got the flu. Has anyone been treated with this combination? It's the first time I have hear about it, but I have taken these before for other infections and did just fine. I am hopeful since my CD57 has gone up from 23 to 56. However, my IgM results show more Lyme.
Avatar n tn You know what i had the same issue few months back and it lasted for a mionth each day for hours straight i wasnt able to leave the toilet thats how bad it was i was hysterical crying and in and out of hospitals. I did every test possible other then UTI nothing showed up negative it drove me insane i just had cyctoscopy done thank gd everything was fine with that.
Avatar f tn Not sure where the rest of post is. Day 2 - 500mg Clarithromycin & Amox 875mg that night. This morning took 500mg of both Clarithromycin & Amox, and Ceftiaxone 1gm IV. I am aware of CDC guidelines and think that this single dose of rocephin & a total of 5gm of Biaxin over 4-5 days (in place of Azithromycin) should be effective? How long should I wait to engage in intercourse with my significant other?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the answer...just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. These all have been taken throughtout the last year since exposure. Would Biaxin or amoxicial cure syphlis by themselves?. no more questions from me so I would like to thank you for your time!.
Avatar m tn I did the same thing after taking an antihistamine and got all upset and mine went up to 120. As soon as I forced myself to relax and quit checking it slowly went back to normal.
Avatar f tn ve been taking the medicine for at least 10 or 11 days at 1000 milgrams of each both biaxin and flagyl daily..and should have stop taking them along time ago ..is this common?
Avatar f tn My boyfrined has been having CT, PET, and breathing tests for cancer and a biopsy of a tumor between his lung and heart and it came up as malignant. He is now going to have another CT for possible pancreatic cancer since the lymph nodes showed up questionable but nothing really apparent in the pancreas area. He had come down with pnemonia which started this examination and I wondered if that might be left over from that and a cold he got after that also.
1067297 tn?1255030564 Flagyl and biaxin worked well for my.. doxy, not so much. Plaquenil & Z-Pak is a newer protocol docs are using (well at least up here in canada, everyone knows how ignorant the canadian health care system is towrd lyme).. good luck!
Avatar m tn Oral gonorrhea is actually pharyngeal, i.e. the back of the throat. It is unlikely you would acquire it just by getting a little semen in the mouth, although I can't say it would be impossible. However, pharyngeal gonorrhea is usually (over 90% of cases) asymptomatic, with no pain or anything else. Here too there are exceptions, and once in a while it causes severe pharyngitis like yours. So the direct answer is yes, this could possibly be what you have. But it is very unlikely.
1138687 tn?1548643978 oral amoxicillin, azithromycin, cefuroxime, clarithromycin [=Biaxin], doxycycline, and tetracycline. These antibiotics have similar favorable results in comparative trials of early Lyme disease." In any event, I would not delay in seeking medical care. Good for you for jumping on the situation -- let us know what you do and how you do, okay?
Avatar f tn The doctor thought it was bronchitis and gave me biaxin to try and prevent pneumonia (I have an IgA deficiency and have had pneumonia 7 times and I'm 23, 4 cases in the past 3 years). Now it's almost a week later and the bronchitis is pretty much cleared up but I am STILL running a fever. Non-stop I have been running this low grade fever (99.5-101.4) for two and a half weeks. I have not gotten it to break at all (I've even tried ice packs).
Avatar n tn May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
