Common Questions and Answers about Is accutane in proactive

accutane

Avatar n tn I feel like you be right that it is a gram-ve folliculitis, but will the only thing to get rid of it be an antibiotic or will just using a topical like proactive do the trick beacuse it has done ok in the past. I am not going on accutane for just a rash on my forehead.
Avatar n tn When I worked at a blood bank any person that had taken accutane within the previous year was not allowed to donate blood, because of the risk of that blood being given to a pregnant woman. Of course the government is being extremely proactive in that matter, and like you, what I've read says to wait at least a month before conceiving. The baby will likely be fine, even though you didn't mean to conceive it was at a time that would have been permitted by her Dr.
Avatar f tn Hi, I also am mom to a st jude patient. He is now 15. He had AML in 1994 and is doing extremely well. He is going through the acme stuff also. I would for sure ask his drs at St Judes about this. They should have some information for you about this. I am so proud that everytthing is going well for him. My son had a yr of treatment and a BMT , we met many other kids who had all so as he does and I remember the long treatment protocal for those kids.
Avatar f tn Accutane was pulled off the market in 2009. I find it alarming that this drug is back on the market again. Accutane side effects include Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) which include Accutane induced Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis; Having your colon removed; Severe depression or suicidal tendencies; Heart attack, stroke, seizure or lowered blood cell count. And there are many other side effects of Accutane mentioned in many comments online and includes joint pain.
Avatar m tn I got a pimple and some cystic acne spots. It usually precedes a breakout. I am going to try and get on accutane. Does it cause scars? Should I let the spots heal first or should I get on accutane immediately? I have literally tried everything you can imagine. Diets, low glycemic, multi vitamin, salads, low carb, you name it. Cut out all flour and sugar. I get temporary relief and it comes back. I would give a testicle to get away from acne.
Avatar n tn I know that ProActive is a good one, tends to dry out your skin though. I took Accutane way back in the day, don't even know if they still have that on the market, it helped so much. I have heard that high doses of Vitamin D also help, I have heard that, haven't tried it. Ask your doctor first.
Avatar f tn can the hCG simply normally be 11 in her body or does this mean she IS pregnant, or worse, could she have miscarried at a VERY early stage? I guess we're just confused as to why hCG would be in her system at all ... and not rising ... Any info is much appreciated. thanks. -Concerned Hubby.
Avatar n tn Hey, how is this going? Accutane is hard to take. I'm aware. Head pain is listed as a side effect along with a host of other things. It can cause neck ache as well which leads to a tension headache. What did you end up doing? I wonder if there is an alternative to Accutane you could try!
Avatar f tn 3) Although I have no opinion about it, I know some people think this next thing could lead to depression. I took Accutane twice. Once as a sophmore in high school. It went well with no side effects. Freshman year of college, my acne was back and I went on Accutane again. This time, I had several symptoms. The worst probably being extreme hair loss. I couldn't brush my hair because huge clumps would fall out.
Avatar n tn the thing about the tablet form is that tablets are not easily digested in the body. the did tests in NY awhile back and the studies show that the body does not usually break down vitamin tablets completely. They found tablets that had only partially been broken down before finding their way to the sewer system. I think as long as your body can actually get in the nutrients that you will be fine. if you crunch it up then your body can get to and break down what is left of the tablet.
1008869 tn?1283961257 oo i know how that is! i was on accutane when i was a teenager.. and then in college it seemed to flare up again.. but nothing like what pregnancy did to me! I used proactive in college and it worked wanders.. i had switched to organic cleansers (non acne type) before getitng pregnant (since we were trying everything!). anyhow i asked my obgyn about proactive (after being broken out like a teenager for months). she said thats perfectly safe!
159619 tn?1707018272 I cycle 12-15 miles per day (I have only missed 2 days since 1/1/2010) and I have peak runs up to 10-12 mets with a heart rate around 160 BPM at peak. My heart recovery rate is between 35 - 45 beats in the first minute from peak. Also, my cholesterol has been well controlled since my first round of testing in 2005 and has not exceeded 170 in total with an LDL between 58 and 80, currently 74 with normal HDL levels. My only bad number is my TGL's tend to run around 250 (down from 400).
Avatar f tn ve been on accutane and present some worrisome symptoms (severe pounding headaches, dizziness, vision blur, sometimes nausea), but my opthamologist saw no papilladema, so at this point it's kind of a mystery as to why I have been experiencing this for the past month. I have been off accutane for a month now. I did get prescribed glasses to see if wearing them reduces symptoms, but I'm just very nervous about this!
Avatar n tn But it is excruciating pain and I’m convinced the accutane caused this even though I haven’t been on it in 2 years. Help.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.
Avatar m tn weight loss ( I was up to 160 right before accutane, lost 20-25 pounds in less than 2 months right after I stopped accutane, and am down to 120 currently) I feel like I have no muscle or fat on me. I'm always hungry but I can't gain a pound.
Avatar f tn I have a sore throat that comes and goes, I feel very tired and sleepy even after a full nights rest, my tummy feels like something is moving or fluttering inside, I feel feverish but have normal temperature, my butt is itchy, I just feel like crap in general. I've felt like this since June. I went to the doctors and was told that nothing was wrong except that I had very low levels of Iron. I was prescribed iron pills, a spray for my throat and pain killers but I still feel the same.
Avatar n tn I am 20 years old I was using accutane for 6 months, I was supposed to have a small surgery in my pelvis while on the drug but my doctor told me to wait and he explained that no surgery should be performed because the drug does indeed interfere with wound healing in fact he recommended to get the surgery 6 months after I have been off the drug but you should definitely ask her doctor/surgeon about it and get a better opinion ...wish you and your daughter the best.
Avatar f tn I feel this is something I need to know in order to make an educated decision whether or not to try the accutane, and I just can't get a clear answer from my own dermatologist. Thank you for your time!
Avatar m tn Hi. Accutane is absorbed better if it is taken twice daily with food and a glass of milk. It is ok to take supplements as long as they do not contain Vitamin A. You should get regular blood tests to check your liver function and cholesterol levels. Other necessary precautions are to avoid exposure to UV rays, avoid too much alcohol, and not to take tetracycline antibiotics whilst on Accutane or for 5 weeks afterwards.
Avatar m tn I am 19 years old, I have been on Accutane twice. The first time for 7 months (80mg a day) and the second time for 11 months (80mg) a day. Ever since I've taken Accutane I noticed my face is extremely irritable. It gets red, REALLY red, like a tomato for absolutely no reason. I will lean over and my face will be blushed and hot by the time i get up straight. When i go to the gym or even lift something mildly heavy, I get red.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm on accutane. This is my third time on it. I take 40 mg alternating 80 mg every other day. I've been taking it for 4 months now. After taking it for a month and a half I've been getting rashes on my face.. It is fleshed colored and doesn't itch. In the beginning I would use a steroid cream and it would go away very quickly but not anymore. I use cetaphil cream on my face twice daily. I have not changed and products that I use on my face, nor laundry detergent.
