i always believed those tablets did me harm.. at the time my eyes were dry and skin too... was told to stay out the sun and that my mucus membranes would temporarily dry out... fast forward to now... years after stoppin the tablets.. and this is what i am left with.. .is there a proven link i wonder??
Recently I stopped using moisturizers because my skin seemed too oily and voila my skin looks very good (my blepharitis also cleared up as soon as I stopped using treatments). However my extremely flaky/seemingly dry lips remain. Am I right in thinking that the lips are caused by having taken 40 mg a day of accutane for 5 mths up until April of 09, or could they be a result of my seborrheic dermatitis?
It sounds like the skin flora has been altered and maybe you have yeast overgrowth. Is there any way to stop the Accutane and use neem soap and other less drying treatments? I would see a urologist to have a look so that you get the best possible treatment for your penile skin, but 100% aloe vera would be a good moisturizer. You may also need Lotrimin cream if it is a yeast overgrowth. I understand that acne can be a huge problem.

I am on Accutane for a second time, and the first time I was still a virgin. Now I have been on it for almost a month and I am experiencing pain during sex, and bleeding. My skin is very dry and I have an issue of vaginal dryness. I'm terrified that it will not go away after stopping taking the medication. Dry skin is the only other side effect I suffer from. I'm only 17 so I hope that this does not stay with me forever.
The accutane reduced the cysts but made my skin very dry, particularly on my forehead and lips. I stopped using accutane due to the side effects and basically gave up on my skin. For the next two years my forehead continued to have very dry, dead looking skin on it and my skin had moderate-severe acne. I am now out of college and over the past year, I tried using an exfoliating cleanser along with duac gel and finacea as well as doxycycline as an antibiotic.

My dermatologist prescibed me Lac Hydrin (12% ammonia lactate) because my face was getting rough like sandpaper, and this has made my skin smooth. However, my skin is so thin, so when my skin feels smooth and freshly exfoliated, it also feels tight and thinner.
He prescribed me metronidazole cream for the redness. I haven't noticed any effects.

Like I said, it work wonders on my cystic acne. I “used” to get huge sores on my face, butt, thighs, ears, and back, that wouldn't heal. I could always find puss by scraping a finger over the deep pores on my face. It started when I was in 6th or 7th grade, and it was a blight on my childhood.
Does anyone know about the scarring after-effects of accutane? I've read several reports of scarring left after it's use. I'm sure that scars are to be expected, as with any open wound, but I don't know if these reports are by anyone with abnormalities with healing/scarring. Here is the situation...
I have mild, maybe slightly moderate acne. I get keloids on other parts of my body, but thankfully not my face. I still get abnormal facial scarring though.

No, it wasn't me.
You might be right that it may take a long time of moisturizing to "repair" that skin, although accutane doesn't permanently dry out the skin, It shrinks the oil glans temporarily (a few years) and that results in dry skin. So my skin should get back to normal little by little.
I've only been on Accutane (actually, a generic brand of it) for ten days, and I experienced my first migraine on day 9. I am unsure if the migraine could be connected to Accutane, but I did a little research and some instances of migraines have been reported by Accutane users. I am just uncertain because I haven't been on it very long, but I am already experiencing dry lips, so I suppose I could be experiencing other side effects already, too.
Occasionally a third or even a fourth course is used, but the benefits are often less substantial. The most common side effects are dry skin and occasional nosebleeds (secondary to dry nasal mucosa).

Today, it is as bad as it ever was, but now I have acne,severe dry skin patches, premature wrinkles, and age spots. I wish I had skipped the synthetic vitamin A and just used fish oil and other supplements. I recently found some help with taking organic cod liver oil (Carlson's) which is naturally high in vitamin A. I also see improvement now that I take plenty of zinc and vitamin C. Egg yolk applied topically (also high in A) is supposed to work. I hope this helps you.
I have been suffering for the last 2 months about this problem, it started when I stopped taking Accutane; it seems that after my skin is exposed to water, such as swimming or bathing, my skin starts to have this prickly, itchy, burning sensation only on my arms and legs that lasts from 10 minutes to 20 minutes. The oddest thing is that I dont see any visible rash nor redness or any signs of irritation.
m on my second course 60mg and it is the first week my skin is soo dry and everything got worse but its all worth while !!
