Common Questions and Answers about Inderal la medication side effects

inderal

Avatar m tn I have been on two different beta blockers...first they had me on Metoprolol 100 mg. twice daily and I had all of those side effects that you mentioned except for the sore eyes. That wasn't controlling my tachycardia so well so they just took me off of it last week when I was admitted back into the hospital and put me on Inderal LA 120 mg. daily. I think the symptoms are even worse on this one...I have been so fatigued, depressed and absolutely no energy.
Avatar n tn There is no best medicine for depression. It is all based upon different symptoms, chemicals, body chemistry, etc. A lot of time it is trial and error. I have been on most meds switching either because one stopped working, bad side effects or they didn't work. This with combinations of meds over time. Trial and error. But you need to insist that your doctor change your medication. I felt that way on Cymbalta and the withdrawl was almost worse than being on the drug.
Avatar f tn I took propafenone for a few months. I had frequent PVCs that led to cardiomyopathy and the doctor wanted to suppress the PVCs. I was taking 150mg 3x/day. I don't recall having any bothersome side effects. I had some minor gastrointestinal upset, but it settled down. I can't remember if I had "weird" dreams on propafenone, but I know it is one of the side effects. I definitely had the weird dreams on flecainide (tambacor). Overall, the propafenone worked very well for me.
Avatar n tn Based on the tremor response and/or Inderal side effects, your healthcare provider may increase or decrease the Inderal dosage. Hence, the dose you are taking is suboptimum and may not be of any benefit in your tremor.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar m tn It states that I should stop taking the medication immediately if I experience these side effects. Can these really prevent me from taking this medication that seems to be the only one of its kind to me feel some what normal? I really don't mind them at all, I just don't want to make my problems worse if you know what I mean...
Avatar n tn i have been taking these capsules called inderal la for my depression and anxiety and they are not helping at all with my condition and i wanted to know if anybody else was taking the same medication and if it has helped them.
Avatar n tn As lagoya mentioned, you may or may not experience side effects. If so, they range from annoying side effects to serious side effects. If it's helpful, when I took flecainide, I had weird dreams, shakiness, tremors and gastointestinal problems. It wasn't horrible, but it was bothersome enough that the doctor switched me to rhythmol. Great suggestion from lagoya on checing out the medication under "Health Topics" above.
Avatar n tn s but didnt create any issues at all and eventually it doesnt do that. I have been on them for 2 years now and it doesnt cause any side effects. Plus 10mg is a very low dose so you shouldnt have any problems at all.
Avatar m tn I tried propanolal for several years, which decreased the severity of both problems. Unfortunately, the respitory side-effects from the medicine forced me to discontinue it. Any suggestions on different medications that I might try? Also any thoughts on someone somewhere specializing in myokymia? Thank you.
Avatar f tn That will affect your heart and circulation. Here is a lengthy list of potential side effects from Inderal https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/propranolol-oral-route/side-effects/drg-20071164. Being fatigued and the sleep issues may be associated with the medication and I'd talk to your doctor about that. Did the palpitations begin in the past three months when you started the medication?
Avatar m tn s prescribed medication. Look for any bad/unpleasant side effects and discuss those with your doctor if they occur.
Avatar n tn Since I live in Iowa (low of -24 degrees the other day), it was a side effects that really bothered me. Now I am on 240 mg of Diltiazem and no side effects but it is not controlling the rapid pulse rate very well. My husband, who has A-fib, saw a mention on one of the discussion boards he reads of Beta Blockers lowering the levels of Melatonin in some patients and causing sleep disturbances.
Avatar m tn s advice and watch, with somehow going symptomatic because you know the side effect symptoms, for the side effects and warnings. If any of the warning signs come up call your doctor, otherwise tough it out. Most of us adjust to beta blocker type medications and the dizziness and fatigue side effect become milder... even go away if we're lucky.
Avatar n tn The leaflet suggests this medication should be started while in a hospital in order to record and take care of any bad effects but all by doctor said was to stopped the Inderal the one night and start on the Solotol the next morning. Has anyone had any experience with this are can give me any advice?
Avatar f tn I have heard that Inderal does have a high side-effect profile. I take the betablocker nadolol and have not noticed any side-effects yet... you might want to talk to your doctor about switching you to a different betablocker if the Inderal is giving you such terrible side-effects... maybe ask about Nadolol, a few of us here take it.. your doctor will know though what the most appropriate betablocker to try next is though. There are two other classes of preventative medication as well...
110220 tn?1309306861 Thanks for your response. I had been on beta blockers for SVT (toprol) and gained 20 pounds back in 2008. I had an cardiac ablation and didn't have to take them anymore. I hated the way I felt on toprol. Now I'm on Inderal and I swear I have No side effects. I know that it is working because my heart rate is now in the 70's and not 115 resting. I have great energy now and I can write without my hand shaking. I still get hot every now and then, but it is not as bad.
Avatar n tn Hi, My doctor had tried me on Vesicare but the side effects out weight the benefits. I was given Buscopan and Detrol LA to cope with bladder problems. I had a lot of problems with pain spasms and urgency. The Buscopan and Detrol LA help but in a case where I have severe pain, I now use Morphine.
Avatar n tn which ensured I got peak med delivery within that time range. The only side effect I had from the Cardizem LA (not the generic) was being able to wake up in the mornings. I felt drugged. I guess you could say that the price was also a side effect, but...We are trying the carvedilol (generic for Coreg) to see if it offers me better coverage. It is a 2x per day dosing.
Avatar f tn Can Menopause exaggerate PVCs, or after 30 years, is my body just rejecting (Propanolol)(Inderal). Never had any side effects with either drug. Is anyone taking a beta-blocker for PVCs that they are very satisfied with? I do not have high-BP, only PVCs. Any suggestions would be helpful. They make my quality of life feel very depressed. I sincerely dislike the PVC sensations. Much Thanks. Thanks to all for this excellent Forum.
Avatar f tn I started out with 200 mg, but now down to 100 mg. I have had no side effects from this medication. I had an ablation Feb 4, 2010.
Avatar n tn If you're seeing a regular physician, you really should see a psychiatrist. This can be very difficult to treat. It is not one-size-fits-all and if there is a combination that works well without side effects then I wouldn't think a decent psychiatrist would want to change that. Without a valid reason, competent psychiatrists don't put us through extra adjustments. I am sorry you've gone through this. There's something to be said for consistency and a nice routine.
Avatar f tn It is not unusual for individuals to have side effects when they begin using a retinol product. Most manufacturers recommend beginning with 2 applications a week for the first week or so depending on how your skin reacts. After that you can increase to every other night and then to every night as your skin adjusts. I have used several products with retinol and this has always been the case for me. I do not have sensitive skin.
Avatar n tn I have had essential body tremors for years and take Inderal 60 LA once a day for them. A few days ago I had to have steroid spinal injections for a herniated disc. Since then, my back feels better, but the tremors have gotten worse. Is this a reaction to the steroid and will it continue as long as the medication is in my body? I don't know which is worse, the terrible back pain or the tremors. The tremors are visible and can really drive you crazy.
