Propranolol inderal la side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Propranolol inderal la side effects

inderal

Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar n tn Since I live in Iowa (low of -24 degrees the other day), it was a side effects that really bothered me. Now I am on 240 mg of Diltiazem and no side effects but it is not controlling the rapid pulse rate very well. My husband, who has A-fib, saw a mention on one of the discussion boards he reads of Beta Blockers lowering the levels of Melatonin in some patients and causing sleep disturbances.
Avatar m tn 25mg because my heart beats go up every so often, the last time was 19th March when they went to 160bpm. The side effects are terrible I have felt really depressed, hardly any energy, sick and my eyes have been very sore. Is there a Beta Blocker without all these side effects.
Avatar m tn I tried propanolal for several years, which decreased the severity of both problems. Unfortunately, the respitory side-effects from the medicine forced me to discontinue it. Any suggestions on different medications that I might try? Also any thoughts on someone somewhere specializing in myokymia? Thank you.
Avatar m tn wow 40mg propranolol (Inderal) 3times daily to begin with? that much didn't have any side effects except lowered heart rate? I started on 10mg 3x daily; but found too many breakthroughs lately so my dr switched me to Inderal LA. last week.... my dr explained back in 2010 that the lower doses were better to begin with to get your body used to it and so I wouldn't become immune to it so quickly.
Avatar f tn That will affect your heart and circulation. Here is a lengthy list of potential side effects from Inderal https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/propranolol-oral-route/side-effects/drg-20071164. Being fatigued and the sleep issues may be associated with the medication and I'd talk to your doctor about that. Did the palpitations begin in the past three months when you started the medication?
Avatar f tn You mentioned that you have been on inderal for 15 years and that the side effects are "still the same".. what are the side effects you are experiencing?
Avatar n tn You might try to reduce the dose and see if only 10 mg will control the symptoms without the side effects. Potentially you could try metoprolol.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar f tn I took propafenone for a few months. I had frequent PVCs that led to cardiomyopathy and the doctor wanted to suppress the PVCs. I was taking 150mg 3x/day. I don't recall having any bothersome side effects. I had some minor gastrointestinal upset, but it settled down. I can't remember if I had "weird" dreams on propafenone, but I know it is one of the side effects. I definitely had the weird dreams on flecainide (tambacor). Overall, the propafenone worked very well for me.
Avatar n tn Based on the tremor response and/or Inderal side effects, your healthcare provider may increase or decrease the Inderal dosage. Hence, the dose you are taking is suboptimum and may not be of any benefit in your tremor.
Avatar n tn I'm a 44yo Female who has been on Inderal LA 60mg for 20 years. I have recently starting having what I suspect is cold-induced asthma. At other times I also seem to have a dry cough, feel irritated in my trachea, have a raspy voice and have to clear my throat a lot. I don't notice any wheezing although I do think my deep breathing sounds different, more congested, hard to explain.
Avatar n tn I take Propranalol for 3 or 4 days at a time 3 or 4 times a day when the palpitations get really bad and then I won't take it for days or months. Depending on how lucky I am that they stay away for a while. I've taken it before, during, and after workouts with no ill side effects. sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.
Avatar m tn s advice and watch, with somehow going symptomatic because you know the side effect symptoms, for the side effects and warnings. If any of the warning signs come up call your doctor, otherwise tough it out. Most of us adjust to beta blocker type medications and the dizziness and fatigue side effect become milder... even go away if we're lucky.
Avatar m tn I've taken inderal in the past and the symptoms will scare the crap out of you, but mine subsided after about 2 1/2 weeks. It did seem to help my anxiety for a while but I was taken off of it because it eventually stopped working so we switched to something else.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I have akathisia from Abilify but it works for me most of the time so I didn't want to go off it. My pdoc added propranolol, a beta blocker, 60mg a day, that stopped the akathisia almost completely. Propranolol is actually mainly for high blood pressure but has "side effects" that takes care of akathisia and anxiety. The only problem I have from it is orthostatic hypotension (dizziness upon standing) but all I have to do is stop and lean over for a few seconds and it passes.
778037 tn?1377986200 The efficacy of propranolol in the treatment of a migraine attack that has started has not been established, and propranolol is not indicated for such use. The initial dose is 80 mg Inderal daily in divided doses. The usual effective dose range is 160 mg to 240 mg per day. The dosage may be increased gradually to achieve optimum migraine prophylaxis. If a satisfactory response is not obtained within four to six weeks after reaching the maximum dose, Inderal therapy should be discontinued.
534360 tn?1234721915 its awful trying to find something that works and how it changes how u think i am petrified this is it for ever!!! today is day one on clexa hope it works without side effects slight runs today but ok touch wood how long did any of u take to feel a slight improvement i know its 4 to 6 weeks but the generally start to work b4 that yes??
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm glad that the Lopressor (metoprolol) work great for you!!! Can I know why you take it? What I understand is that beta blocker have usually mild side-effects when they are give to people with high blood pressure... BUT in my case, my blood pressure is lower to normal only and rarely in the high range (only when i'm in a middle of a panic attack or in a situation where I feel trap).
Avatar m tn Hi, sure sounds like it could be your version of a migraine. It can be a bit different for each individual. Propranolol (Inderal) is a good preventive, and a variety of triptan drugs are good abortive drugs. Ask your neuro to try you on some new things. Keep in mind that everyone is different in their tolerances and reactions to meds. But, there's enough out there that something should help.
709686 tn?1277432159 ve tried Lexapro, Cymbalta, Celexa, Effexor, Prozac and Amatryptaline and am unable to tollerate the side effects. If this is a legitamate med for anxiety I'm willing to give it a try.
Avatar f tn I never experienced nausea with Topamax but i did experience many other side effects. It definitely cleared the migraines the best. However, over time and with the increase dose of 200 mg eventually I became aphasic, unable to recall recent events, numbness in my extremities and eventually lost my job due to the neurological symtoms. Now i am on Inderal or propranolol which is a beta blocker and only 80 mg and it helps the headaches without the side effects. Talk to your doctor and suggest it.
968908 tn?1274871115 If I found myself in this situation, I'd consider the following facts... An elevated sedimentation rate of 33 is indicative of inflammation, or an autoimmune response. Beta blockers (particularly Propranolol) are associated with the development of anti-nuclear antibodies, which, in turn, may lead to an autoimmune response - whereby the body produces auto-antibodies against itself. This may occur acutely or over some "X" period of time.
Avatar f tn I meant 20mg Prozac. Did not suit me at all. I was put on Propranolol during a very bad bout od deep depression, but I could not stand the side effects, and stopped that too. Can't remember the dosage. Perhaps a higher dose will help you. I think anything worth trying to get relief. However, some medications help some people, and not others. Keep in touch and tell us how you get on. Sorry I am no help.
Avatar n tn sometimes Tenex is also used in conjunction with stimulants to help control ADHD symptoms....first I have heard of inderal (brand name for propranolol) being used but makes sense...Always to remember to ask your doctor any questions about your meds and health care...the only stupid questions are the ones not asked....Also beta blockers are also given to help control migraines to regulate fluxs in BP...not because too high but slight changes can trigger migraines...
