I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.

I agree Maxalt seems to be the better drug especially the MLT version as it gets into the blood stream much quicker.

ve tried Imitrex tablets (no help since I threw them up), Imitrex Nasel Spray (once again, no help because I threw it up), Imitrex Injection (have you tried this? I couldn't keep taking because of an allergic reaction). Another good option is Relpax. It is a tablet BUT one of the benifits is that it helps with vomiting also. I did fine on this and I'm a huge vomiter (yuck, lack of a better word). Sure wish I had insurance still...
I have migraines a few times a month (2-3) and take 50mg generic imitrex with an OTC NSAID. So after having two different doctors tell me that I need to get an "official diagnosis" of migraines from a neurologist, I finally saw a neuro. yesterday. To say that I am confused and angry is an understatement! For $250 he told me that I have mixed migraines/tension headaches and to reduce my stress and that my migraines would improve or lessen.
also, if someone offered you a medication that worked as well as Imitrex, you would probably use it when you were in pain as a substitute for Imitrex... which all shows that Imitrex is in no way addictive. As for physical dependency... well, I have heard of the triptan Maxalt causing rebound headaches, which could be considered a type of physical dependency maybe... but, out of all of the triptans, the ONLY triptan that has shown this is Maxalt, not Imitrex.
Has anybody found relief from migraines? I've tried everything from herbs to Imitrex. Started having rebound headaches with the imitrex and hated taking it anyway.
this condition is related to migraine headaches. I know: I have it infrequently (thank God) but it is like someone stabbing a knife in the side of my head and ear. Have you tried plain aspirin?
t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets.
- Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway.
- Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.
Hi, I do have a prescription for Imitrex which I do take for these migraines & it usually helps. The last 2 weekends they've been pretty bad so I actually took the pill when I first got home from tennis & then had to take another 1/2 pill later on at night to finally kick the pain. I've heard about beta blockers but am concerned about side effects. Is there any suggestions for my diet, vitamins, anything you can suggest? My Dr.
Hello, I'm 17 and I was diagnosed with migraines when I was 7. I've been getting them almost daily since that summer. Although with each new pill they put me on it stopped for a while. I was on midrin for a long while but I got used to it and started to max out and had the aide of other pills. I was put on Maxalt and it stopped working in a couple of months and I often time had to mix it with other pills.
Getting your eyes checked was the correct thing to do next, and it is good that you now have the correct prescription glasses. Having the correct prescription glasses will reduce eye strain and reduce the amount of headaches you get caused by eye-strain.
Even with the correct prescription lenses, you can still get eye strain if you work at your computer or read for too long.
You can also ask your family doctor for a prescription for Imitrex or another triptan. If you have migraines that should work to help get rid of them when you have them.
