Imitrex frequency

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex frequency

imitrex

Avatar f tn Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone. They are typical migraines - severe, pounding headache on one side (usually the left for me), light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, nausea/vomiting. I would typically just try and "ride it out" - taking my normal meds, going in a dark, quiet room and trying to stay as still as possible until the headache, etc., would pass.
Avatar m tn played little league. I do take Imitrex for the Migraines (I have 4 sisters who also deal with Migraines so obviously hereditary). My question is, is there anything I can take before playing tennis or after to alleviate the migraines. Sometimes the Imitrex helps tremendously & sometimes it takes more the one 50 mg pill.
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar n tn The headach is always mild and usually lasts only a couple of hours. My concern is with the frequency. I am premenopausal, take 1 mg of lorazapam per day, and have recently been taking Advil PM. Could you please tell me what could be causing this increased frequency? Should I be concerned about a brain tumor or stroke?
518798 tn?1295212279 Good Morning guys! I woke up with another migraine this morning. This is the 3rd one this month. I usually have about 2 in a year, but never this close together and this often. I have been taking 1 imitrex when I have a headache. My question is, "Is Imitrex habit-forming?" I have researched all the websites, but they also say that ultram isn't habit forming. I was just wanting some info from someone who has taken it.
Avatar n tn Hi The nausea that you are experiencing seems to be part of the migraine itself. What is the frequency of your migraine attacks? Do you grequently have migraine attacks with aura? And do you generally have nausea accompanied with migraine attacks? Are you having any other symptom like stomach ache, heartburn, bowel complaints? In the meanwhile, you could take the medications to treat nausea. Best..
Avatar n tn I have tried several different preventative medications including Inderal LA, which I no longer take. I now take Imitrex 100mg PRN- but have noticed a few changes in my symptoms. I have never experienced an aura-I usually get the pain on one side(usually my left) that generates to behind my left eye. The headaches pretty much incapacitate me- I am nauseated-feel dizzy-overall malaise. Imitrex and 3 excedrin usually helped.
Avatar f tn m not sure if my body had simply grown tolerant being on the same dose dly for 5-6 yrs or if it was because of the increased demands my body had to go through this past year, but I made the difficult decision to increase my oxycontin to 50mg three times dly. I have also been on fioricet and imitrex PRN for my many headaches and migraines. I suspect that my headaches have increased in frequency and intensity to the point that I have them daily because of all the meds I take.
Avatar n tn I have suffered with migraines for over 25 years. They have increased in frequency and severity over the last couple of years. Preventitive meds and botox injections did not work. The only thing that relieves my pain is Imitrex. Latest MRI shows a new pituitary cyst (6mm). My doctor recommends doing an LP to rule out pseudotumor cerebri. Does this sound like a reasonable plan?
Avatar f tn I have tried numerous medications. (Amerge, Imitrex, Toradol, Fioricet, Maxalt, Indocin, Lithium, Imitrex Injections, Vicodin, Perocet.. I beleive there is a few others I just can't think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful.
616582 tn?1225068601 I get migraines and the only thing that knocks them out is ergotamine or DHE (basically the same thing). I'm on some antidepressants such as Luvox that can conflict with it and would like to find an alternative. It's a dangerous combination. I've tried all the triptans such as imitrex, maxalt, etc, and that family of drugs does not help at all. The latest thing I've tried is Midrin but that did not help at all either Is there anything new or a different family of drugs to try?
Avatar f tn I have tried various medications...started with something (can’t remember) before trying Imitrex. Imitrex didn’t touch them, so I was prescribed MaxAlt 10 mg. If I catch the symptoms early, this can cut the misery by around half and I can generally have a conversation later in the day. What REALLY made a difference, though, was identifying patterns in what triggered them.
Avatar f tn The frequency of side effects, such as headache, decreased in those who took birth control pills containing lower doses of estrogen and did not occur in those who took birth control pills containing progesterone. Treatments: The medications of choice to stop a menstrual migraine are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs).
341655 tn?1240368839 what is the difference between the imitrex injections and pills? Which is more effective and prescribed more?
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If you suffer from some other types of medical conditions too, Imitrex should not be taken. Do not take Imitrex if you have underlying cardiovascular diseases, if you have uncontrolled hypertension, if you are taking MAO-A antidepressants or and do not take Imitrex if you have severe hepatic impairment.
Avatar f tn Throughout the year, I've had pretty frequent headaches that just became my norm, since they weren't so severe that I couldn't function. They would come and go throughout the day, never getting very bad. However, for the last month or two, I've had basically had one constant headache. The severity fluctuates, but it's pretty much always there. The pain is always either felt in the whole head, or strictly the left side.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar m tn Moderate to severe headaches accompanied by migraines, which are one sided, that vary in frequency. I have not had an mri, but have had CT scans where nothing was found. Do you have any suggestions for treatment of both the headaches and migraines?
Avatar f tn so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...
Avatar m tn Since I started to wean off my Xanax addiction I quit taking the Vicodin and Tramadol, except for 1 day had bad migraine and none Imitrex pills, my insurance only covers 9 pills and paying them is more than 200 dollars. The point is that I do not feel side effects or W/D effects from quitting the Vicodin and Tramadol. It this possible? I didn't even knew Tramadol was an opiate until I joined this community.
Avatar f tn I am a 24 year old female with debilitating migraines(2-3x per week in frequency), crepitus in joints but more severe in shoulders, muscle pain, weakness and stiffness, neuralgia, tingling and numbness in hands and fatigue. I have had migraines with aura for about 12 years but all of the other symptoms started about 2 years ago.
Avatar f tn I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it. Trixamet is supposed to be covered by any insurance that takes Imitrex, but mine doesn't cover it. Maybe yours will. Hope I helped.
Avatar f tn Hello. I've been suffering from sever migraines for years but recently they have gotten worse.. For a week now I've had a constant pain. Ive tried imitrex and that hadn't help. I took a pain med n it help for a little while. But the pain is back ten fold. Is that because of the pain med.? Any suggestions on migraine medications?
Avatar f tn I used to get so many migraines and I was taking imitrex injections. When I moved the migraines got worse from stress and I started taking the imitrex daily, sometimes even multiple times a day. After about 3 months of this I started getting heart palpitations. They got so bad that I stopped taking my imitrex (cold turkey) on the whim that it was causing them. The palpitations started getting worse, but I had now talked myself into having a fear of imitrex (that it would kill me).
