Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.

I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.

Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.

I checked for drug interaction between Synthroid (levothyroxine) and nortriptyline, but there is only minor interaction reported. However, a potentially life threatening condition called serotonin syndrome may occurred with nortriptyline, either taken alone or with MAOIs (or monoamine oxidase inhibitors) and/or other serotonergic drugs, such as triptans, tricyclic antidepressants, tramadol, and etc.

I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.

I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). It was not until I could sleep would they go away. That sometimes was several rounds from bounceback migraines and I'd be in the ER for days (happened about 4 - 6 months ago).

I take Imitrex when I get them, and it usually works great, but today I have taken the maximum dose on my Rx for a 24 hr. period (200 mg) and it's still not gone. I am wondering if I went to the ER, is there something else they could do -- could they give me more Imitrex, or another triptan or something else to try to stop it? I don't want opiates. Any thoughts appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. I am very sorry to hear you are having bad migraines. I have a long history of migraines and so had to have a med I could take on treatment. I opted for Imitrex because it is okay with the Peg, Riba, and Incivek. Interestingly enough, I have not had any bad migraines on treatment but I think that is because I know most of the migraine triggers and have avoided them like the plague.

Thanks for replying, I have not had imitrex before but have had relpax and fioricet for migraine attacks in the past. And yes, the pain med has nothing to do with the migraine, but for a plethora of other issue....I only mentioned it as that was why I did not think to ask about why they were increasing my dose on the new med. I fully understand about the Tylenol concerns and trust their treatment plan for me.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

Well, I had problem with script to fill Imitrex medicine couple years ago.... it only supplys 9 and only covers one any type of migraine medication PER month. When I ran out of it, I asked my doctor to give me script for more Imitrex and I dropped script off at Walgreens then few minutes later, pharmacist told me that insurance was not covering that...

s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!

My doctor has me on 600 mg of gemfibozil once a day before meals and simistation 40 mgs once a day. I have high cholestrol and very high trycliderides. I had a heart attack 10 years ago, Now my question is i read on the net these two meds should not be taken together. Can i get your advice on this please.

I always get migraines with my period and at least another 2-3 a month from various causes. Imitrex 100mg is the only thing that helps me but i dont want to take it because i am 7 weeks and dont see my dr until week 10. I'm on day 2 of a migraine now. Im drinking lots of water, took tylenol, keep putting cold packs on my head and neck, but nothing is helping. Im going crazy. Anyone have the same issue or any suggestions? Help!

Took a hpt yesterday and saw the VERY faint line and family MD did a yes/no blood test, and while it was faint as well, it was a yes. AF wasn't supposed to even show till tomorrow so I'm not even 4wks. We are praying all goes well and can't wait to hold our blessing in our arms! My question-i suffer from migraines related to hormones and have taken Lortab about once a month after I can't handle the pain any longer. Today the full blown migraine is so close.

I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.

I was doing some research yesterday on my own and put my meds in and discovered that my Imitrex and Cymbalta have the very same warning. I took Imitrex the other day and did actually feel quite ****** afterward but just thought I was having a bad day (and very well may have), but my Pdoc and I are going to have a little chat about that because she knows I'm on it and didn't check that! The really bad stuff are the nsaids and Tylenol, I would surely check with your Drs. make sure you tell them every blessed med that goes in your system.

Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.

I know I have Imitrex and I'm on Topamax for preventative. This is more tension than migraine...it's almost as painful, but different type of pain. And the Imitrex only works if it's a true migraine and I've wasted the last 3 Imitrex hoping it would help, and those suckers aren't cheap!!! But I REALLY appreciate the advice....I really do.

I am the worst mommy I miscarried today and the reason we think it happen was Friday i got a migraine and knowing it is not pregnancy safe I still took my imitrex smfh I am not sure how I am going to be able to forgive myself for acting so selfish

ve tried Imitrex tablets, Zomig tablets and Maxalt ODT (orally disintegrating tablets). I will never take Imitrex again-50 mg gave me severe palpitations and chest pain; I thought I was going to die. Zomig and Maxalt both worked well when I took them (not together of course) but then they stopped working: it was almost like I developed a tolerance to them. I do remember the Maxalt ODT tasting weird and sometimes it would make my nausea worse.

My husband takes dilanitin for seizures. He had to take a drug test for a job and tested positive for barbituates. Does any one know if this is common?

Water was pretty much the only thing that worked for me. Not sure what week he is on, but hopefully this sx will subside as his body adjusts. Good luck to you both.
