Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex tylenol

imitrex

Avatar f tn I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it. Trixamet is supposed to be covered by any insurance that takes Imitrex, but mine doesn't cover it. Maybe yours will. Hope I helped.
Avatar f tn I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.
Avatar m tn I take Imitrex when I get them, and it usually works great, but today I have taken the maximum dose on my Rx for a 24 hr. period (200 mg) and it's still not gone. I am wondering if I went to the ER, is there something else they could do -- could they give me more Imitrex, or another triptan or something else to try to stop it? I don't want opiates. Any thoughts appreciated.
Avatar n tn Right now I am in the middle of a 2 week long migraine headache. My OB has given me Tylenol with codeine which isn't helping at all. Is there anything else that I can try that won't be harmful to the baby? I'm really trying to avoid going to the ER because I don't want to have to be admitted.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the forum. I am very sorry to hear you are having bad migraines. I have a long history of migraines and so had to have a med I could take on treatment. I opted for Imitrex because it is okay with the Peg, Riba, and Incivek. Interestingly enough, I have not had any bad migraines on treatment but I think that is because I know most of the migraine triggers and have avoided them like the plague.
Avatar f tn Has the Dr ever prescribed imitrex? I suffer migraine headaches. As well. Just a question, your Dr has you on pain pills for another ailment, right?
656111 tn?1273820739 Anyway, I am taking Imitrex for my migraines. Well, I had problem with script to fill Imitrex medicine couple years ago.... it only supplys 9 and only covers one any type of migraine medication PER month. When I ran out of it, I asked my doctor to give me script for more Imitrex and I dropped script off at Walgreens then few minutes later, pharmacist told me that insurance was not covering that...
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar f tn I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.
Avatar f tn I always get migraines with my period and at least another 2-3 a month from various causes. Imitrex 100mg is the only thing that helps me but i dont want to take it because i am 7 weeks and dont see my dr until week 10. I'm on day 2 of a migraine now. Im drinking lots of water, took tylenol, keep putting cold packs on my head and neck, but nothing is helping. Im going crazy. Anyone have the same issue or any suggestions? Help!
1817265 tn?1317302747 We finally got our BFP after almost 2yr of trying and 2 IUI's. Took a hpt yesterday and saw the VERY faint line and family MD did a yes/no blood test, and while it was faint as well, it was a yes. AF wasn't supposed to even show till tomorrow so I'm not even 4wks. We are praying all goes well and can't wait to hold our blessing in our arms!
Avatar n tn After taking Viagra I get migraine headaches ( I take tylenol mostly, but sometime I have to take Imitrex ). They are much worse after drinking a couple of beers or a couple of glasses of wine ( 8 to 10 ozs ). If I take Imitrex, I really feel bad for about 24 hours ( washed out, extremely tired ). I still get headaches if I don't drink at all. They are just not as bad. I have sense enough to know not to drink, but sometime I do to enhance my conversation with my wife.
Avatar f tn I have been off for 2 months now and i talked to my doctor to day and he called me in tylenol 3. Not sure if i should pick up the script or not. MY DOC was vicodin 7.5. Not sure what to do. Like u said lets just make it threw this hour.....

Avatar m tn Water was pretty much the only thing that worked for me. Not sure what week he is on, but hopefully this sx will subside as his body adjusts. Good luck to you both.
Avatar f tn Take Tylenol if it doesn't go away with medicine you need to get checked out.
Avatar n tn The only medication that help me is a cocktail of 2 aspirins, 2 Tylenol and 2 Motrin 800mg, if I catch it at the beginning. I f is too late,Imitrex 100mg works for me, specially the injection, pills are prone to take effect a bit later, but the injection is inmediate .

341655 tn?1240368839 what is the difference between the imitrex injections and pills? Which is more effective and prescribed more?
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1056589 tn?1273747102 If you suffer from some other types of medical conditions too, Imitrex should not be taken. Do not take Imitrex if you have underlying cardiovascular diseases, if you have uncontrolled hypertension, if you are taking MAO-A antidepressants or and do not take Imitrex if you have severe hepatic impairment.
Avatar m tn Talk to your doctor about antimigraine medications such as Imitrex, Maxalt, Zomig, etc., that are meant to acute migraine attacks. Until you see your doctor, you have over the counter options such as aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, or Excedrin.
Avatar n tn But of course the last post could be right as well. Are your headaches on one side of the head or ? Does Tylenol take them away?If it is a migraine, for me, Tylenol won't touch the headache. My neighbor gets migraines everyday and she started taking magnesium but at a high dose IV. She was desperate after trying many things. It seems to have helped her some. Hopefully they will pass.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar f tn I forgot to mention that I take Imitrex for my migrianes and sometimes add Ibupropin. It is best to stop the migraine cycle by taking a triptan drug then you won't keep getting them. There are many types of tryptans and some work on some people and not others Maxalt works better for some people. Excedrine migraine helps my friend too. It is best to get diagnosed though. But you can't take triptans more than 2 days a week.
7543158 tn?1391978069 My doctor told me to take childrens tylenol. When I told him the doses of meds I was on and explained to him that the tylenol wouldn't work, he basically told me to put on my big girl panties and stop whining. Needles to say, I almost kicked him in the nads. I don't think the guy has ever had a migraine in his life or he'd never had said that. I know there are some moms out there that have migraines and what not. Can you guys suggest anything natural to help lessen the pain?
Avatar f tn so there is no reason to become an addict or to crave the medication, but ones body will still become highly dependent on the medication to a point that if you take the body off the medication abruptly you can cause seizures and even death... Imitrex is NOT like that!! Imitrex does not cause any sort of high or euphoria so you cannot become addicted to it, you will not "crave" it when you are not in pain...
