imitrex and vicodin interaction

Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.

s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!

Well, I had problem with script to fill Imitrex medicine couple years ago.... it only supplys 9 and only covers one any type of migraine medication PER month. When I ran out of it, I asked my doctor to give me script for more Imitrex and I dropped script off at Walgreens then few minutes later, pharmacist told me that insurance was not covering that...

I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.

I was doing some research yesterday on my own and put my meds in and discovered that my Imitrex and Cymbalta have the very same warning. I took Imitrex the other day and did actually feel quite ****** afterward but just thought I was having a bad day (and very well may have), but my Pdoc and I are going to have a little chat about that because she knows I'm on it and didn't check that! I checked for drug interaction between Synthroid (levothyroxine) and nortriptyline, but there is only minor interaction reported. However, a potentially life threatening condition called serotonin syndrome may occurred with nortriptyline, either taken alone or with MAOIs (or monoamine oxidase inhibitors) and/or other serotonergic drugs, such as triptans, tricyclic antidepressants, tramadol, and etc.

Since I started to wean off my Xanax addiction I quit taking the Vicodin and Tramadol, except for 1 day had bad migraine and none Imitrex pills, my insurance only covers 9 pills and paying them is more than 200 dollars. The point is that I do not feel side effects or W/D effects from quitting the Vicodin and Tramadol. It this possible? I didn't even knew Tramadol was an opiate until I joined this community.

I'm on zoloft and I sometimes take my moms vicodin/percocet for pain and I'm just wondering is it safe to take these combinations together? Basically: Zoloft+Vicodin= safe? Zoloft+Percocet= safe? Will the Vicodin or Percocet decrease the effects of the Zoloft? OR can it cause permanent brain damage? I took 2 Vicodin's a couple days ago and then took 1 Zoloft pill an hour later and I started to feel weird/loopy. Could I have caused permanent brain damage?

I'm on 1200 Ribavirin and Pegasys 22/48 1.a. I've always had problems with headaches but its getting progressively worse. I'm taking way too many tylenols and darvon. I wake up and go to sleep with headaches. My GP had me get a MRI and my brain is fine. My GP wrote a prescription for Vicodin and I'll pick them up after work today. Hopefully they will work. I may not be able to take them while at work but it sure will be good to get some relief other times.

The have tried pain management techniques, chiropractic therapy, bio feed back, the list goes on. They have tried morphine, and vicodin among other drugs they and these did not help. They are trying Meloxicam usually just called Mobic. I looked it up, it doesn't say anything about being for pain, but it is an anti inflammatory med, so I wondered if anyone else had experience with this medication. does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

When I looked it up it said that certain anti-depressants and tramadol can have bad interactions like those. Another one is imitrex and paxil. They gave me imitrex when I was hospitalized with migraines and was taking paxil. My heart rate plunged to 33 bpm and my blood pressure went to 170/100. My husband takes dilanitin for seizures. He had to take a drug test for a job and tested positive for barbituates. Does any one know if this is common?

I know I have Imitrex and I'm on Topamax for preventative. This is more tension than migraine...it's almost as painful, but different type of pain. And the Imitrex only works if it's a true migraine and I've wasted the last 3 Imitrex hoping it would help, and those suckers aren't cheap!!! But I REALLY appreciate the advice....I really do.

there are many other meds that are more effective so I think you should be able to stay away from the Vicodin once you find what meds work. Imitrex is excellent for migraine and not addicting. It's never a good idea to take any med that has the potential for abuse. If it can't be avoided, someone else should hand it out to you. But for something as chronic as migraine...check your options; there are many.

I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.

Four to five years ago my doc thought they were migraines and I took Imitrex about once every 2 weeks. Then I started getting a worse headache from the Imitrex, like my entire head was supersensitive, my hair hurt. He sent me to a neurologist who diagnosed occiptal neuralgia. Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.

they put my on antibiotics and viccodine ..this morning i felt better and at 12noon took my norvasc 5mg pill then around 5pm i stared felling clammy and hot and noticed my breathing was wierd..then when i went to the train to get a transit card my heart was beating outta my chest just for walking up the train station stairs...when i got home my bp was 143 over 100 and my heart rate was 104...

I have tried numerous medications. (Amerge, Imitrex, Toradol, Fioricet, Maxalt, Indocin, Lithium, Imitrex Injections, Vicodin, Perocet.. I beleive there is a few others I just can't think of them at this time) I am now being treated with Zonegran, Depakote. The Zonegran was working for a little while but I have seemed to reach a plateau. I have not been migraine free at all since November, but there have been times where my migraines have been less painful.

ve tried Imitrex tablets, Zomig tablets and Maxalt ODT (orally disintegrating tablets). I will never take Imitrex again-50 mg gave me severe palpitations and chest pain; I thought I was going to die. Zomig and Maxalt both worked well when I took them (not together of course) but then they stopped working: it was almost like I developed a tolerance to them. I do remember the Maxalt ODT tasting weird and sometimes it would make my nausea worse.

I was prescribed anti-depressants along with vicodin, but the vicodin became my anti-depressant and I started abusing it, which led to more problems. Just a word of caution.

Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.

Like worried, I'm not sure where you are in recovery. I had the exact same thing happen to me last week. I was prescribed Celexa (which I will NEVER take again). I am also prone to migraines, so not sure if it was from the Celexa or just a random migraine. Anyway, I am a little over 5 weeks clean. I went to ER and got 4 shots(Decadron, Stadol, Phenergran and Reglan.) They also sent me home with a vicodin 4 pack(which I didn't need and had my husband dispose of).

t do anything until recently and even with pain killers such as vicodin and morphine(which was via i.v.) and imitrex there was no relief.I normally go about 3 weeks with a migraine get a couple days free but then it comes back normally in the middle of the night to where I wake up crying from the pain.I have had this current one without break for 5 weeks and 3 days.Is it normal to suffer for this long and for this many years with few breaks in between?

Imitrex is also not the only triptan on the market, there are quite a few. If you do end up using the Imitrex and you feel you have an adverse reaction to it, one that is not life-threatening but one that you do not enjoy... there are still other triptans to try.
