I have been diagnosed with CML since Novmber of 2007. I am still a little confused about some things. and i guess when my WBC's got back to 4.5 I was excited and thought I was all good- In the clear huh... Well in less than a month my WBC's dropped back down to 1.8 and they say that I am good as long as I don't go past 1.5. Ok fine. I don't go back for another month and I already feel like **** and have had pneumonia 2x in the past month.

My 24 year cousin is my best friend and was just diagnosed with CML and her doctors are very optimistic, but she has so many qiestions she is scared to ask. They are going to put her on the "Miracle Pill" will she lose her hair? Will is hurt her chances of have children? In Jan WBC was still around 12 but he also performed a gene test and said the results were very suspicious. He said I had CML and scheduled a bone marrow biopsy for the following day when my husband could be with me. After 10 days I went back for the results and was told the biopsy came back normal and that I did not have CML. My question is...does the normal biopsy rule out CML all together? Even with the positive gene test (which I believe was positive for the Philadelphia chromosome).

Well as they monitored that and did blood work they also found the CML. Is this a common thing to have low heart rate with CML? As a coworkers friends daughter was also just diagnosed with the CML she too is having low heart rate issues. Sound like too much to be coincidence.

My bf has CML and he had a partner who has HIV my question is can HIV be transmitted to him as he is already a CML patient ? My second question if he has both CML and HIV but the HIV is inactive what are the probability of me getting infected with HIV?

My mother was diagnosed with atypical CML in April by her hometown doctor. She then went to Mayo and the doctor there told her she did not have Leukemia based on her blood work there, but she had been overdosed on Hydrea during the summer to the point her wbc was 3 and was only recovered to 11 by the time of her appt in Sept. Now her wbc is 58 and her hometown doctor is putting her back on Hydrea.

I was diagnosed with CML and given Gleevec 400 ml. After taking gleevec for 2 weeks doctor took additional blood test. My WBC dropped from 36.5 to 7.1 and all other blood counts came down to normal range. I'm wondering if gleevec could give such fast hematological response or I was possibly misdiagnosed originally. I don't and didn't have any symptoms, my spleen and liver weren't enlarged, no enlarged lymph. Should I get second opinion asap? Please, help me.

My uncle was diagnosed with CML (chronic myeloid leukemia) His last full body checkup was a year ago and it was all normal back then. He regularly did full body checkup. My questions are 1) Could a person get into 3rd or 4th stage under a year? 2) Is there a cure for CML?

Average survival rates are generalizations, not applicable to a particular patient. The prognosis is relatively good. Newer techniques are being tried, including imatinib and stem cell transplantation. All the best, and God Bless!

My husband was diagnosed with CML chronic meyliogenous leukemia and hep c last sept. He started on a target therapy drug at a high dose until March of this year when he became low on blood and anemic. His oncologist claimed he had internal bleeding and sent him to the emergency room hospital. He has been in and out of the hospital 5 times in the last month, taken 13 units of blood and several units of platlets but no internal bleeding has been identified. Where is all this blood going?

how to differentiate anemia because of the disease (in this case CML that hasn't got CHR in 3 month) and adverse effect of therapy (gleevec) ?

So now I am really scared, and do not know what is causing this high neutrophil count. I came across CML - and the article mentioned several things: 1) Alot of people do not feel any symptoms at the start 2) They became diagonosed off of a routine blood test So I am starting to think that this is it. My doctor is on vacation and will be back next week. But what do yo guys think? I can't seem to come up with any opther explanation (except my smoking perhaps).

Hello and welcome...I couldn't agree more with CML. This has gone on far too long; your kitty is in dire need of vet care. Sure, this could be many things, but just because someone comes along sharing similar symptoms doesn't mean that is what's wrong with YOUR kitty. This sounds like IBD...Irritable Bowel Disease...but it might not be. Your kitty needs some tests to properly diagnose the issue.

Hi, I agree 100% with CML and Melinda. Anytime you find something that doesn't "belong" on the cat, it needs to be checked out by a vet. Good luck!

good for you.....sounds like this little one needs someone to love him or her buy a brand that is high in protien, (lists a meat source as the first and second ingredient)...meat NOT by-products and preferably grain free as well, cats don't need grains they need meat!!! Weruva like CML mentioned is one good brand, there are others...buy from a pet store not a grocery store and not the Vet brands either...they are high in grains good luck and let us know how it goes ok....
