Hysterectomy recovery support

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy recovery support

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I am 27, and am having a bilateral ovary removal and radical hysterectomy in a few weeks. (Due to various problems but mainly huge production of testosterone.Possible tumor unseen by testing) Anyway, I would like to know all of the ins and outs of post op recovery and etc. I am already on estrogen since I don't produce much. I recently (8-12 weeks ago) had my appendix removed laproscopically (sp?) will the pain be like that pain??? I am a stay at home mom to a HYPER!! ADHD 4 year old son.
Avatar f tn I wonder if when you had your hysterectomy that maybe they didnt suspend/support the top of your vaginal cuff, which can make prolapses more common for the future. I am so glad you are having your op done with a Urogynecologist as they are the prolapse specialists. No lifting anything to begin with.. Walking is OK within limits of tottering around the house to begin with and increasing as you feel able.
Avatar n tn It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
1510783 tn?1290096307 I am scheduled to have a partial Hysterctomy because I've been diagnosed with Andemyosis. on December 15th (just my uterus will be removed, so far). What can I expect in regards to pain, recovery time and emotions. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years so I am fine about not having any more children. My doctor is not sure if she has to cut me or go vaginally. I am a little nervous and scared about this major procedure. Any feeback would be greatly appreciated. I am 38 years old.
566073 tn?1219434819 I had a horizontal incision, bikini to belly button only 7 wks ago, this was to remove large oc tumour I am being reopened on the same scar for my full hysterectomy, is this going to be heaps worse?????
Avatar f tn Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..
Avatar f tn I'm not knocking anyone else's advice to you, but if you're looking for support as well as advice on how you should go about this whole thing, then allow for me to try and help the best ways in which I know how... I'm 16 days sober from Percocet today and I did this without the assistance of any other medications or my PCP.
Avatar f tn Removing ovaries is not a hysterectomy...it's an oophortectomy. Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. I'm not sure exactly what your doctor is recommending, what tests were performed, or what the surgery recommendation is based upon. Ovaries can be removed laparoscopically by small incisions or by open incision (laparotomy).
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy just under 3 weeks ago, and i was just wondering how much walking is too much? I am only going for short walks at the moment, but feel i would be able to go for longer walks, but am afraid i might push myself too hard. any advice would be helpful, thanks.
1100598 tn?1413127426 I am sorry for your breast cancer, BRCA1+ diagnosis, and being faced with this decision of female organ removal. I had a hysterectomy with ovary removal and it has been a hellish ride. But my situation was much different than yours (a suspicious looking ovarian cyst that ended up being benign) and my organs never should have been removed. At least most of my hormone deficiency symptoms are relieved with estrogen.
1149921 tn?1297559913 could be enlarged uterus , puts pressue on bladder also your friends are correct fibroids can be treated with out hyster..if you can at all avoid hysterectomy do so. its a very difficult operation. hard recovery. but then you do get better, likely will have issues w hormones the way fibroids are remove is called emobilization.
637613 tn?1281039564 I just wanted to say thank you to all the wonderful women on the Ovarian Cyst and the Hysterectomy Forums. I am having my surgery on Wed and am so very grateful for the wonderful advice and support that you have all offered me. I was so relieved when I found this site. I was beginning to think I was losing my mind and I must be the only one with these pains. I was amazed to know how many women suffer...and thankful to know how many get relief from the surgery. Thanks agian for all the support.
473883 tn?1322853038 Hello ladies, I was just wondering if there is anyone on here who had to have a hysterectomy at an early age. I'm 25 getting ready to have a hysterectomy due to complex A tipia Hyperplasia not sure if that is spelled right.
1809377 tn?1316520328 I am seeing my GYN tomorrow to make an apt to have a partial hysterectomy. I have seen a lot of the posts out there, but I would like to know what I can experiece post up... recovery time... discomforts... how long will it take for my body to get back to my new normal self, how long it will take for me to have sex again (it's been over 5 months)!!!
Avatar m tn I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 years ago was great for me and I had a quick recovery. Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Avatar f tn I am a hysterectomy in less than 2 weeks I'm a bit nervous they said I can't cook cleaner Drive a while you're taking a cervix uterous tubes out I'm going to try to keep one or both ovaries my question to you ladies hats had one before how was your recovery time and your pain and is there anything that I need to know or to take to the hospital with
Avatar f tn If you can try to find a surgeon who can do the divinci robotic laproscopic assisted hysterectomy . You will have 3 small scars instead of a hip to hip incision. the recovery time is shorter also. Plan on lining up some help for housework, kids, meals etc you will need it, and listen to post op instructions exactly, when they say do NOTHING thats exactly what they mean, I now use hrt the vivelle patch and I am happier than I have been in years !!!!!!!!
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
442027 tn?1209866342 Expect 2 to 4 weeks of recovery, with some lifting and straining restrictions that could extend beyond this period. da Vinci Hysterectomy offers numerous potential benefits over traditional approaches to vaginal, laparoscopic or open abdominal hysterectomy, particularly when performing more challenging procedures like radical hysterectomy for gynecologic cancer.
