My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..
He feels that I am going through one thing right after another and feels that he could take out the cysts because at this point it is very painful but he feels another could come. So he is recomending a hysterectomy. He says I have many fibroids and now a large cysts. I have had two C-sections in the early 80s so I also had scar tissue. He doesn't want to me to have to keep going through these procedures and feels this is the best thing to do. A complete hysterectomy.
Removing ovaries is not a hysterectomy...it's an oophortectomy. Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. I'm not sure exactly what your doctor is recommending, what tests were performed, or what the surgery recommendation is based upon.
Ovaries can be removed laparoscopically by small incisions or by open incision (laparotomy).
I had a partial hysterectomy just under 3 weeks ago, and i was just wondering how much walking is too much? I am only going for short walks at the moment, but feel i would be able to go for longer walks, but am afraid i might push myself too hard. any advice would be helpful, thanks.
My understanding was that there would be full recovery within one month. It has been five weeks and the host conjunctiva tissue around the graft is still irritated and inflamed. Is this normal? Will it regress? Timeline? Thanks.
I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 years ago was great for me and I had a quick recovery. Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time.

C section is scheduled for August 7th; however, due to the location of my fibroids I may have to have an emergency hysterectomy...is anyone else in a similar situation? Does anyone know anything about how that might impact recovery? Pregnancy has been basically perfect and baby is doing great otherwise!!
I had a vaginal hysterectomy 12th Nov. Before my op i used walk at least 10kms a day and do exercises and work full time.
I would like to know a timeline when i can start doing exercise etc. I have been i advised that I can return to work within 3 - 4 weeks,, though can't drive till 3 weeks post op.
It does sound like it would be the best solution. I can see what the doctor means. If they leave the ovaries, at least you wouldn't experience surgical menopause, which can be a bit brutal. But you would say goodbye to your womb. How do you feel about that? It might be a good idea, for the sake of your general health.
Fibroids naturally shrink after menopause, and often cause no more trouble, but with the kidney involvement, I would say it's best to have the surgery.
How long will it take for you to recover from a partial hysterectomy. I had mine a week ago, I feel like I am able to work already but I'm afraid that going back to work at one is not good for me.

The word "hysterectomy" actually refers only to removal of the uterus. The cervix is usually removed as well, and that entire procedure is called a total hysterectomy. There are two ways to do the surgery.
How long you stay in hospital depends on where you live, insurance, and your doctor. I live in Canada and I was in for 5 days but I have heard of others in for as little as 2. Did you have open surgery for your hysterectomy? The recovery time is very similar.
I found a lot of pain for the first 2.5 weeks. Hugging a pillow really helped and very important to stay on top of your pain meds. My pain started reducing then and felt much better by the 4 week mark.

Hi. I am having laparoscopic hysterectomy with ovary removel.(Brca gene) I have a one year old baby. I was told I can't pick up anything over 10pounds. No yoga or anything either . For 4 weeeks. Wow is this really true?? Is there a procedure with better post op recovery?
