1510783 tn?1290099907 What can I expect in regards to pain, recovery time and emotions. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years so I am fine about not having any more children. My doctor is not sure if she has to cut me or go vaginally. I am a little nervous and scared about this major procedure. Any feeback would be greatly appreciated. I am 38 years old.
Avatar n tn Expect at least two weeks recovery time. Some need only a week, while others need three weeks or more. I have a notedly high tolerance to pain, and I needed two full weeks.
Avatar f tn What is the reality in regards to the recovery time? Also, will my symptoms improve from this procedure? Am I just better off holding out for a hysterectomy? I'd rather only have to go through this crap once.

Avatar f tn Don't look at the IV at all. I don't. We spend more time worrying than the surgery and recovery take. Any other questions or if you just want to chat I am hear.
Avatar n tn Hi Ladies, I was just wondering if anyone on this board has had a Laparoscopic hysterectomy, and if so what is the recovery time vs a TAH. I'm scheduled to have the lap hyster with possible TAH. What is the recovery time in having either procedure. Also has anyone ever order a book off the internet called " Happy Hysterectomy " its a email book....just wondering. Can anyone recommend and good reads about surgical menopause OR does anyone wish to share there own experience.
Avatar f tn My doc has suggested I have a partial hysterectomy (due to heavy periods and fibroids and constant anemia) and now as the date for it is getting closer, I'm getting cold feet. I've been reading on different websites that there's a good chance that even if it's a partial hysterectomy, I will start going through menopause within a couple years. Can anyone who has had one confirm this or share their experience with this?
1809377 tn?1316523928 I have seen a lot of the posts out there, but I would like to know what I can experiece post up... recovery time... discomforts... how long will it take for my body to get back to my new normal self, how long it will take for me to have sex again (it's been over 5 months)!!! I suffer from endometriosis (confirmed with a biopsy) since 97, they suspect I have may lesions (scar tissue) due to the level of pain which is 24/7 for the past 5 months ranging from a pain level of 5-8.
Avatar f tn I will be having a partial hysterectomy, maybe full, depending out what was seen with my ultrasound of my ovaries. I have a herniated rectum, probably from being constipated so long, and a prolapsed bladder and uterus. The uterus and cervix will be removed, ovaries, if needed, and then the bladder and the rectum will be repaired as needed. Mesh will be used to sling the bladder up where it is supposed to be. I will also be have a little bit of plastic surgery down there.
Avatar n tn Hi: I forgot to include this question in my last post. I am postmenopausal (about a year and a half) & am scheduled for a complete hysterectomy. I read a lot about physical/emotion effects of hysterectomies on premenopausal women, but can't find any information about the physical and emotional effect on women who've already gone through menopause. Is there still some hormonal effect on 'p. m.' women?
308998 tn?1233708502 I had laproscopic for both procedures and it was more than a few days recovery time, especially from the hysterectomy. I was out of work for almost 12 weeks though I felt better after about 4. You might want to check the Hyster Sisters website for info about the procedures and guidelines. Recovery time varies from person to person and it's good to know others have been through it and come out okay.
222282 tn?1210168539 The stent is withdrawn 6 weeks after it is placed, as it is estimated that all ureteral healing has occurred by that time. The principles of the Davis intubated ureterotomy have been extended to endoscopic treatments of ureteral strictures. Ureteroscopic endoureterotomy and Acucise endoureterotomy are 2 modalities that attempt to treat the segment of strictured ureter endoscopically by a longitudinal full-thickness ureteral incision, followed by a stent placement.
Avatar f tn I had surgery a few weeks ago, and being sick before the surgery and then the recovery time I have gone backwards so much! So in a few more weeks I need to force myself to get up and start again. I know, the begining is so hard because you just don't want to and laying on the couch watching tv. is so much more fun! LOL If you don't like exercising, maybe just a nice walk with your kids or your husband, a friend, or even alone. I like to take my music with me and walk in the evenings.
Avatar n tn I have a FLAT stomach and right know i look to be about 5 months pregnant. I am not exaggeration. They said recovery time will be about 2 weeks, well they haven't been exactly honest with the rest of the info so I'm not sure when i will feel better.
Avatar f tn I work full-time and attend college part-time and do not want more children and thought this procedure would take care of the fears of becoming pregnant at my age. I hope it works for me but I am doubtful at this time.
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
Avatar f tn The 2nd is to perform a hysterectomy via an incision to my bikini line and leave my right ovary intact. The recovery time is exactly the same which made me feel a hysterectomy is my best option but now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone advise me?
Avatar f tn The cervix is usually removed as well, and that entire procedure is called a total hysterectomy. There are two ways to do the surgery. The old-fashioned method is called a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, or TAH, meaning the work is done through an abdominal incision. Recovery time is easily 6 to 8 weeks. A Total Vaginal Hysterectomy (TVH) means the uterus and cervix are removed through the vagina.
Avatar n tn DaVinci robotic surgery is performed only as an alternative when the patient needs abdominal surgery. A vaginal hysterectomy is still the least invasive procedure. Also, at least in his opinion, the posterior and anterior lifts can only be corrected by going through the vagina, so my doctor was giving me correct advise. I feel much more at ease about my situation and know that this is the appropriate procedure. Now all I need to do is have it done and get through all of that!
Avatar f tn Hi - I will have a total hysterectomy anterior/posterior; rectocele and cystocele in less than ten days. What does all this mean, how long will I be in the hospital, and how long will recovery take, approximately? I know we're all different and circumstances will dictate the exact amounts, but if you have had these three procedures will you please share your story? What was it like before, and after? Tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for sharing!
Avatar n tn My aunt had a C section with her first child she was 26 at the time, during the night they couldnt get the bleeding to stop either and they had to do the hysterectomy procedure on her also.
Avatar f tn Hello Weens, It is true that three days is not a lot of time to recover from a surgical procedure. I am sorry that you are in so much discomfort. You may want to contact your surgeon to determine if your level of pain is the normal for the procedure you under went. You may require a higher dose of pain medication. Please know that you are always welcome here but you may find better responses and more information on a different forum.
Avatar f tn Sometimes, one of the reasons for a woman's hysterectomy is persistent pain. I don't think it is the usual protocol to remove the appendix unless it is suspect for a problem. I had mine removed when I was 15 and had an ovarian cyst removed. I had been in pain for quite awhile and was told that mine was enlarged. It is a judgment call that your doctor makes at the time of surgery.
10123610 tn?1408032825 The ablatioan for me was an hour or les in the doctors office under local no big recovery. My hysterectomy was days in the hospital. I got home and was sicker than I have ever been in my life.
Avatar n tn What can I expect if I have a partial hysterectomy? What is the recovery time/time out of work? Can it be an outpatient procedure?
473883 tn?1322856638 Hello ladies, I was just wondering if there is anyone on here who had to have a hysterectomy at an early age. I'm 25 getting ready to have a hysterectomy due to complex A tipia Hyperplasia not sure if that is spelled right.
1670196 tn?1306844845 Having a total hysterectomy on Tuesday. I am SO nervous and have so much anxiety that if they could turn it into power, I think they could power the entire town I live in. I have to drink the magnesium citrate and I don't know the best way to go about it (because I HATE things that taste bad) and I don't know how to calm myself down about the surgery.
Avatar n tn Hi, i am also looking into having a hysterectomy in the next month, waiting on one more ultrasound before making the decision. It is such a hard one at that.I myself am only 32 so this is not an easy decision to make even though i was told i could not have anymore children, i don,t want to give up parts that still have purpose.
