Hysterectomy complications rectocele

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy complications rectocele

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn It's natural to be scared of surgery. If you are not feeling reassured when you talk to the surgeon, if you are in America you can get a second opinion. It doesn't sound like avoiding surgery is wise. The best treatment I have had has been from surgeons, but I have chosen my surgeons very carefully. That's not to say there can't be complications, but the more unhealthy you are and the more dramatic the condition, the more likely you will have complications.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for vaginal hysterectomy for cystocele and rectocele. Everything I have read said they have gained 20/30 pounds as a result of the hysterectomy including the ones whose ovaries were not removed. Have you had any weight gain?
721523 tn?1331581802 I had this surgery for the exact same reason your having it (I had a uterus prolapse) back in 2006. Towards the end, my uterus began to pull my bladder out of place as well and they were worried as to whether or not the bladder would go back into normal position. When you have organ prolapse there is little options on what they can do. Once they start to mention hysterectomy, your organ prolapse is usually a grade 3-4. and it puts other organs..
Avatar n tn I now have another rectocele that measures 3.5cm and is causing complications with bowel movements, both at the site of the rectocele and higher up, which requires me to splint both vaginally and rectally. I have found a urogynecologist who is very honest in stating that she is having difficulty in deciding whether to suggest surgery or not. She would be using mesh and if I had the surgery I would need to decide between synthetic or porcine.
Avatar n tn Looking for a second opinion my Gynecologics feels that I need to have my uterus removed through the vagina so the can repair the rectocele and the weakness of the back wall of the vagina. They feel it might not take a good effect otherwise. I have never had any bowel movement problems or urine leaks. Thanking you in advance for your response.
Avatar f tn I had a large enterocele that my gyne found when he repaired the rectocele. I actually lost a few more pounds with the surgery-I have other health issues and I weighed 76#s at the time of the surgery and dropped to 72#s, so they kept me on an I.V. the entire time. I am not a doctor, but from my own experience, I would never have gotten the hysterectomy, because I read-later- that it like removing the anchor to your pelvic floor. My hysterectomy caused my enterocele & rectocele.
Avatar f tn I recently had the divinchy method of repairing my vaginal area and a hysterectomy. This was done the end of April. Since then I have not been able to have a bowel movement on my own. It pushes into the vaginal area and will not come out. I just saw to my nurse practitioner and I am to see a general surgeon tomorrow. I know I need something done, but I am unsure of what will happen, how it is done, and what the side effects can be.
Avatar f tn Estrogen is used to help the viginal skin, mucosa, become more healthy so it will heal better after surgery. Estrogen does help some symptoms of prolapse such as urgency, vaginal dryness, frequent urinary infections.
Avatar f tn When procedures are done properly there is no problem with having a hysterectomy, the complications occur when a woman has a hysterectomy and organs/tissues are not properly anchored and women end up with vaginal vault prolapse. I encourage you to discuss the pros/cons of hysterectomy with your physician as well as ask the exact reason why he/she wants to include this as part of your surgery.
Avatar f tn I am 48-years old, diagnosed with gastroparesis back in May, hypothyroidism in June, and rectocele/rectal intussusception this past week (in October). I am status-post three c/sections, abdominal hysterectomy (still have my ovaries), and a ventral wall hernia repair while they were doing the hysterectomy due to compromised fascia that would not hold my organs in.
Avatar f tn Hi - I will have a total hysterectomy anterior/posterior; rectocele and cystocele in less than ten days. What does all this mean, how long will I be in the hospital, and how long will recovery take, approximately? I know we're all different and circumstances will dictate the exact amounts, but if you have had these three procedures will you please share your story? What was it like before, and after? Tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for sharing!
Avatar f tn html I hope this helps I have been doing research on this ever since I was told I needed a rectocele and cystocele along with a hysterectomy. It devastated me and I value my health I am only 55 but feel that the doctors are looking for a way to keep their practice by performing operations with the mesh and making statements that they would not do anything to me that they would not do to their own wife, mother, sister or any family member. After doing the research I have no trust in them.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy march 2016,@19..iam now sexual active but the problem is iam feeling pain when urinating and also smelly brown discharge.what could be wrong?
Avatar f tn Hi- Just wondering if anyone out there had any complications post total hysterectomy? I had mine 3 months ago due to several cysts again! Paternal grandma died of ovarian cancer at age 50. I had 15 years of cysts, and a total of 8 laporosopies. I am not even 40 yet! Any how, at my 8 wk check up my oncologist said everything was fine, no infection, no cancer, etc., I can try having sex with my husband. We did everything was fine.
Avatar f tn I am needing a rectocele repair, badly, if I can find someone who will take my traditional medicaid. What I want to know is how long before the surgery should we use the estrogen (I have both vagifem and estrace cream)? I had a hysterectomy, total and done vaginally, in Oct 2009, then bladder fell 2 months after, had the cystocele repaired and then around 6 weeks later the rectum and top of vaginal vault fell.
Avatar f tn I now have very sharp pain on coughing or sneezing and have a really full feeling in my pelvis (I had a hysterectomy done 15yrs ago so it is not uterine discomfort) and I am getting really sever pain on any internal bowel movements way before I actually need to go. I was told this sling was disolving and would take 6 months to disolve which would allow my body to make it's own sling with scar tissue. It is now just past the 6 month mark.
Avatar m tn I expressed this to my doctor and he was willing to do a total hysterectomy on me, but he wants me to give the Seasonique a go before we proceed. He would do a full hysterectomy on me because of the endo, but my concern is that I simply do not want to age fast. I don't want to go through menopause and I heard sex gets weird after a hysterectomy. I don't want to be reliant on BC forever.
Avatar f tn I had hysterectomy and rectocele surgery done on Friday 2/13/15.. I'm not superstitious so the date don't matter...haha! But I did have a lot of scar tissue from having my cervix removed in 1993 from cancer and had a lot of scar tissue from endometriosis, and from several lapriscopes so my surgery took longer. The sent me home that night with a script of oxycodone/as a 4.835/325mg. This only my 3rd day I understand.
Avatar n tn 4 months after the hysterectomy I had an enterocle/rectocele repair, and my life has been nothing but miserable since then. I now have another rectocele.
Avatar m tn In May, 2010, my wife was recommended for a hysterectomy/rectocele mesh procedure. She really felt that she didn't need the hysterectomy, but continued under doctor's advice. The morning of the operation, while being administered IV injections, she was informed by a nurse that her doctor was going to switch from the normal (?) mesh to a porcine mesh. Approx. Sep/Oct 2010 timeframe, my wife started having pain and complications.
Avatar m tn I am 63 yrs old, have had complete hysterectomy 25 years ago, and presently have rectocele and relatively new with pgad symptoms, as of March 2014. I asked my gynecologist if rectocele would cause symptoms of pgad and she said no. So I wanted to know if, like me, anyones' symptoms came along with taking Armour Thyroid or Synthroid? I had no such symptoms of pgad til my dose of Armour Throid was hiked up. I didn't immediately connect the two until I did my own "test".
Avatar f tn I am 42, I had grade 3 rectocele, and grade 2 cystocele repair 4 months ago. I have had sex probably 10 to 15 times since surgery, everytime it is incredibly painful. Also, can not stop taking MIRALAX. Will I ever get back to normal, or will sex always be this way and will i ever get off MIRALAX??
