Hello Shirl000, I was just diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis a few weeks ago and have been on naproxen for about a month now. It helps with the pain and some days are better than others. I went to a rheumatoid dr and she gave me other medications to take along with the naproxen to help alleviate the pain. Hope this helps and you're feeling better.

t take what you learn too much to heart. Mtx, Enbrela and Humira have been around for years (esp. the mtx - like decades) and their effectiveness and side effects are well known. Regular bloodwork is required and if anything look iffy, you can stop the meds right away with no harm done.
Once you hit on that combo, you'll know it and the wait will have been worth it.

I have been treated for rheumatoid arthritis with Humira for 7 months including a combination of Humira and methotrexate for the past 2 months. I also take 5mg of prednisone, and 6 Azulfadine tablets each day. I was taking Humira once every fourteen days and I am on 15mg of methotrexate a week. About a month ago, I started experiencing numbness in my toes and feet. I mentioned it to my rheumatologist but she wasn't concerned and simply told me it wasn't rheumatoid arthritis.

Hello all my friends, I want to know if anyone developed rheumatoid arthritis during Tx? Suddenly, after 20 weeks, I started having small joints pain, stiffness and redness of my hands; I am very upset that it can be RF. Next week I will see my doc to have RF test done. I hope it is just my obsession and not the disease.

From what you have described, the symptoms are most likely arthritic in nature and the migratory pattern of these arthritides is really a diagnostic challenge. This is commonly due to rheumatoid arthritis, arthritis due to infections, or connective tissue diseases. Infections that can induce these forms of arthritis would include rheumatic fever and an uncommon form of urinary tract infection.
The literature relative to this case suggesting an association between rheumatoid arthritis and interferon therapy is presented. This case suggests that interferon therapy may precipitate subclinical rheumatoid arthritis in an individual without pre-existing clinical arthritis.

I did in fact wind up with RA after I treated the first time. I had a DIRECT family history of the disease in that my mother had the disease and my symptoms were classic. If you even suspect RA, ask your GI for a referral to a rheumatologist. RA is something you can't mess with. If it does indeed turn out to be RA, it could do most of it's damage witin the first year if not diagnosed and treated.
I have high rheumatoid factor, high c reactive protein, and some other stuff related to Anklyosing and rheumatoid arthritis. Currently I am worried about amyloidosis because of having an enlarged tongue which feels like it puts pressure on my throat.
I have tried minocycline, methotrexate, sulfasalazine, plaquenil, and prednisone with no help. I am about to start humira. I currently take 5-10mg of prednisone and have been for about 8-9 months.

If you have Lupus or ankylosing spondylitis, there are other classes of drugs that can be used to help with the pain, such as Humira, Enbrel and others. These drugs come with a lot of adverse side effects, so it might be best to try other anti-inflammatories first, to see if you can get relief before resorting to them.
Do make sure you have adequate testing/imaging to insure a proper diagnosis.
About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis after having his hands and body start crippling his abailities in daily living, and began taking Humira as treatment. Recently he has decided that we can no longer be intimate and we need to separate. He is terrified of getting the herpes infection and believes if he does it will be considerably worse for him and he won't be able to continue the Humira and thus end up crippled.
I have been having these blisters appearing only in the mornings and between my finger for the last 4 months. My hands nearly drive me nuts. I have changed soaps, lotions, shampoo, conditioner, dish soap and everything there is to change. I have only very tiny blisters with clear fluid that dry out and then crack where the skin has gotten dry. Eczema lotion helps with the dryness but not the blistering. I have used alcohol, cortisone creams, anti-itch creams, calamine lotion....you name it.
my father has osteoarthritis and my mother has RA - for which she takes Humira. I am prone to fungal infections and one year ago had an undiagnosed one-inch long, narrow, purple recess on my face that left a slight scar (tests for cancer and lupus were negative).
My PCP doesn't believe that Reactive Arthritis is likely so many years after the initial infection. And he said the symptoms generally are more acute than my nagging, chronic symptoms are.
Any ideas?
I'm 33 and have psoriatic arthritis and was recently started on Humira. Within a day of starting I had pain in my fingers, toes, shines and forearms (none of which I had before). Has anyone else experienced new joint pain after starting Humira?
