Avatar n tn I have RA and use Humira/methotrexate. How long do I have to be off Humira to get a yellow fever (and/or tyhphoid) vaccine? How long to I have to stay off Humira after the vaccine?
Avatar f tn About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis after having his hands and body start crippling his abailities in daily living, and began taking Humira as treatment. Recently he has decided that we can no longer be intimate and we need to separate. He is terrified of getting the herpes infection and believes if he does it will be considerably worse for him and he won't be able to continue the Humira and thus end up crippled.
Avatar f tn Can you send me the dosage of both meds thanks and any other thing you think can help my wife has lupus and arthritis and the doctor dose not talk about new meds for both .
Avatar f tn I'm 33 and have psoriatic arthritis and was recently started on Humira. Within a day of starting I had pain in my fingers, toes, shines and forearms (none of which I had before). Has anyone else experienced new joint pain after starting Humira?
Avatar f tn I have been treated for rheumatoid arthritis with Humira for 7 months including a combination of Humira and methotrexate for the past 2 months. I also take 5mg of prednisone, and 6 Azulfadine tablets each day. I was taking Humira once every fourteen days and I am on 15mg of methotrexate a week. About a month ago, I started experiencing numbness in my toes and feet. I mentioned it to my rheumatologist but she wasn't concerned and simply told me it wasn't rheumatoid arthritis.

Avatar f tn ve had some experience with Humira. I was off and on it for 6 months for Psoriatic Arthritis. Sometimes cold and flu like symptoms could be a side effect. My primary care would always ask me when I would show up for what I knew was a sinus infection if I've had my Humira shot when I was on it. The one thing I have learned about dealing with these strong drugs is to always go to your doctor first because they make treating normal illnesses more difficult.
Avatar f tn The competition does sell versions of it (Remicade and Humira) but those are just as costly. Humira actually would cost me more. I was hoping there was a different class of medications outside those 3 that can do the same job for much less.. Thank you for replying.
Avatar m tn night last 4 mths also Endep 10mg 2 before bed to help restlessness ....still in pain ....so now about to start Humira but I cannot afford to gain weight,, and the forum makes me afraid to take.......as met have a few years ago ...any one still on Humira injection every fnight?.
Avatar m tn regulators have approved the drug for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, a painful, progressive form of spinal arthritis. All three forms of arthritis are chronic disorders in which the immune system attacks joints, causing stiffness, pain and restricted motion. The drug is injected under the skin once a month. It is made to be used alongside drugs that suppress the immune system.
Avatar f tn t reveal RA definitively with just the highly positive ANA but no other abnormalities (besides positive TPO antibodies that make me likely to also get hypothyroidism in the future). Wondering if there is anyone out there with undifferentiated arthritis being treated with humira and other similar meds? Most folks on humira seem to have RA or another definitive type of inflammatory arthritis....
Avatar m tn Same deal, more cortisone shots, etc. And just like that, pain has come and gone moving around different joints in my body. R/ elbow then L/elbow, hand, wrist, shoulder, toes. At the present time, I'm 41 and still in pain, still seeing rheumatologist. Diagnosed with RA. (have seen 4 drs. in the past 8 years). I have had all the blood tests which have been all in normal range. No RF present. Negative Anti-CCP. etc etc.
Avatar f tn The doctor has suggested Humira. He is reluctant. Then I have seen and gotten information on Enbrel. I would like to put him on something that is going to reduce the inflamation in his knees. He is 27 and can barely walk at times. In the past he was on methotrexate, naproxyn, something called "gold". None of these seemed to really keep it under control. He has been feeling pretty crappy these past couple of days and I am hoping that he doesnt have a flare up.
Avatar n tn Hello, you are in the right forum. We have posts on all forms of arthritis here and we are glad to have you join us. Humira and other medications used to treat autoimmune forms of arthritis do weaken your immune system. Your doctor should have given you a flu shot and pneumonia shot before starting you on this medication. Things you can do to reduce the chances of getting sick are fairly standard, wash your hands frequently, eat right, get plenty of sleep and try to reduce yor exposure.
Avatar m tn s and am now 24. I am currently going through a horrible flare and am on Humira now. I took Remicade to calm down my last flare and it worked wonders when nothing else would. It put me into remission and allowed my body to heal itself. It does lower your immune system, so you can get sick more easily. If you wash your hands and take care of yourself, this shouldnt even be an issue. I would recomend it. It made me feel normal again.
Avatar f tn Still trying to get the dosages and combination of drugs right and may be going to Enbrel or Humira soon.
Avatar f tn I start my treatment this friday. I have hepC, prorisis and Psoriatic Arthritis.. I was on Humira for years for the prorisis. My doctor just took me off to start the Hep C treatment and now I have Arthritis.
Avatar m tn Hi Doctor Hook, Thanks for the quick reply. Just want to clarify i've never had a urethral wbc test before... Just my general blood test shows moderate wbc, consistent with reactive arthritis. If you have an elevated blood wbc (which i have) does that translate into an elevated urethral wbc? I have not had the proper chlamydia test yet, as the testing centre said it was too early.
1120928 tn?1263190816 I was just diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis and Ankylosing Sponylitis this last week and I am beyond scared and lost. My Dr. has given me the choice of taking Humira or Remicade and explained the risks of TNF blockers. I have a blood disorder that weekend my immune system at a young age and I am not sure of taking something that would weaken it more.
Avatar f tn 29, 2009 - Rheumatoid arthritis patients who take the biologic drugs Remicade, Humira, and Enbrel do not appear to have an increased risk for developing cancer in the first few years of use, researchers in Sweden report. The study is one of the largest and longest population-based investigations ever into the cancer-causing potential of the drugs, known as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors.
Avatar f tn I am seeing a new dr.next month and may be changing to Humira or Remicade. The Enbrel has helped my lower back and hip pain, but my hands are still swollen and painful. The one other thing that has a HUGE impact on how I feel is Stress and Lack of Rest/Sleep. This past week was very very stressful and today when I woke up I felt like the Tin Man and my hands are still swollen and painful and it's 11 pm.
Avatar n tn The Humira was for Psoriatic Arthritis but I am no longer taking this. Where exactly do you find a Genetic Specialist what kind of Doctor is this, never heard of this. I had all sorts of blood work done. yes they did check the thyroid, etc. all came back fine. However I just found out i'm a diabetic and now am on medication and not incilin I wonder if closing the hole, patching the hole would make all my problems go away.
Avatar m tn He concluded that the relief (although moderate) provided by the NSAIDs was further evidence for Reactive Arthritis and that I should try Humira. I have been on Humira for about 6 weeks with no effect. If anything, pain has gotten worse (though worsening should probably be attributed to discontinuation of NSAIDs).
Avatar n tn swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Serious and sometimes fatal infections may occur during treatment with Humira.
Avatar f tn All other testing was negative so she said I had psoriatic arthritis and put me on humira. Even though I had all the classic symptoms of an autoimmune condition. After 7 months and steady decline in health I took myself off and told her something else was going on I was way to sick for this to be arthritis..I do have spondyloarthritis and osteoarthritis which I've had 5 surgeries on back neck and SI joint. I had 3 other Doctors tell me to find a new rheumy so I did.
Avatar f tn t go beyond any further than a few stubborn patches. Finally I moved to Humira and Oh my my I have a new lease on social interaction. I can now wear my short sleeves in summer. The only thing I have is the old scars which are clearing slowly, but thank God, it does not bother me. There is also a small patch on my legs which is ignoring what ever I trow at it. But yes, Humira saved me as well as psoriatic arthritis that was developing too.
