ve been on Enbrel for about 5 years and it has been an extremely good medication for both the psoriasis and the psoriatic arthritis. My concern is what am I going to do now that my husband is retired and my health insurance won't cover the cost. I live in Canada and the cost of this medication is approximately $22,000.00 a year which my husband's company insurance covered but now that he is retired, it will not cover the cost for my lifetime.
About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis after having his hands and body start crippling his abailities in daily living, and began taking Humira as treatment. Recently he has decided that we can no longer be intimate and we need to separate. He is terrified of getting the herpes infection and believes if he does it will be considerably worse for him and he won't be able to continue the Humira and thus end up crippled.
ve had some experience with Humira. I was off and on it for 6 months for Psoriatic Arthritis. Sometimes cold and flu like symptoms could be a side effect. My primary care would always ask me when I would show up for what I knew was a sinus infection if I've had my Humira shot when I was on it.
The one thing I have learned about dealing with these strong drugs is to always go to your doctor first because they make treating normal illnesses more difficult.
He concluded that the relief (although moderate) provided by the NSAIDs was further evidence for Reactive Arthritis and that I should try Humira. I have been on Humira for about 6 weeks with no effect. If anything, pain has gotten worse (though worsening should probably be attributed to discontinuation of NSAIDs).
There is also a small patch on my legs which is ignoring what ever I trow at it. But yes, Humira saved me as well as psoriatic arthritis that was developing too. I have had no complications with infections and I am so grateful. This disease is surely genetic with environmental predisposition and hope we finally nail it down for good.
All other testing was negative so she said I had psoriatic arthritis and put me on humira. Even though I had all the classic symptoms of an autoimmune condition. After 7 months and steady decline in health I took myself off and told her something else was going on I was way to sick for this to be arthritis..I do have spondyloarthritis and osteoarthritis which I've had 5 surgeries on back neck and SI joint. People in my house are sick quite a bit during the year, so other than screenings (which I obviously will be getting), how do I protect myself? Supplements? Immune-boosting foods?
She saw the rhuematologist who said it was Psoriatic Arthritis and prescribed naprxen whic did not help then feldene which helped a little and now she will start taking methotrexate injections every week.

I had all sorts of blood work done. yes they did check the thyroid, etc. all came back fine. However I just found out i'm a diabetic and now am on medication and not incilin

Yesterday my rheumatologist has finally decided to give me something other than anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants for my list of symptoms which he has decided are due to either Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis (Palindromic Rheumatism was mentioned too) or possibly all of the above, with a side order of Fibromyalgia. I do have a cough but its not dry and I do smoke a lot. 3. I do have psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and gout. 4. Negative antibody test at week 4. Negative Rna Pcr quantative test at week 5. negative antibody at week 5. Negative AG/AB 4th generation at week 7. Negative rapid POC antibody at week 9. I don't know what to do. With all the symptoms ive been having wouldn't I have tested positive by know if I was infected? My body temps have been all over the place.
