How to slow speech rate

Common Questions and Answers about How to slow speech rate

speech

Avatar n tn Over the past 4 to 5 years, I have developed progressive slowing and slurred speech plus fatigue. At present, I have lost perhaps 80% on my rate of speech. My neurologist says its not Lyme Disease - but I read that the Lyme Disease bacteria can go dormant. So is there any test that can determine for sure that my symptoms aren't caused by Lyme Disease?
Avatar n tn My nephew has severe eczema and we have exhausted all resources. He is 1 year old and is allergic to soy, dairy, wheat, oatmeal and several other foods that did not test positive with an allergy test. He is under weight because of this. He is also seeing a speech therapist because he isn't progessing at the rate he should be with speech (this could be completely unrelated). I refuse to believe that my nephew is allergic to everything that he barely has enough nutrious choices.
Avatar m tn I used to think this was worse than it is, but this seems fairly common. I agree with the others that his hearing needs to be thoroughly checked, and I'd go to a speech path at this point for an assessment. The fact that everything else is on track is a really good sign.
Avatar n tn i was advised to take meds to bridge the slow heart rate. i was told about the sick sinus, that causes slow heart rate. lowest rate is 49beats/minute highest i got was 63. i don't have a heart failure. and yes i believe this is one of the greatest decision i will make in my life.. i know once i put this, i will be needing a replacement in 10 years or if needed as per doctor's advise.
Avatar f tn How do you know that you have low heart rate before you wear the holter monitor? What type of problem you noticed before you realize this problem? Usually younger and more active person experience low heart rate at rest.
Avatar f tn 14 weeks ago I had a baby, since then I noticed I was getting dizzy spells, I was keeping a close eye on my blood pressure and heart rate as I suffer with White Coat Hypertension and I have to take my own readings to medical appointments. I noticed that my heart rate was falling fairly low 45 etc occasionally. I went to the doctors and was prescribed iron tablets and my iron was very low. Since having this I am hardly getting dizzy spells, only very occasionally.
Avatar n tn (tightness in head, dizziness, bran fog, fatigue). How long does it typically take to really start to tell a significant difference?? I am sooooo ready to kick this. Also, has anybody ever had speech issues as part of your symptoms?? I know I read that slow speech is a symptom, but mine seems more like a slurring issue. Like there is pressure on my speech if that makes any since. Thanks in advance!
Avatar m tn Before I talk about depresion which can definitely effect speech, Im going to say there are a lot of serious neurological causes of speech problems; if this is a possibiity you must get it checked. Drowsiness caused by alcohol, drugs or chemicl problems like diabetes and salt imbalance can make you slur your words.
Avatar f tn I had my first vaginal US at around 8 weeks and my doctor said it was to early to heard the heart beat, he said it was not going to be accurate and to wait until my next appt. we did SEE the heart beat on the US but we couldn't hear it... I have my next appt next week and I am excited to finally hear it...
Avatar f tn I have gone to the gym 4-5 days a week for the past year. Not to long ago I was able to run 2 miles no problem however in the past 6 months everything has gotten worse and I cant even make a half mile without feeling lilke there is cement in my lungs. They told me it was sports related asthma, which doesnt make sense because it happens while I am at rest and exercise only multiplies the symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi there, i seem to have the same problems as you. My heart rate is slow (49bpm) and my blood pressure is low (90/70) but strangely my cholesterol level has gone up from 193 mg/dl (HDL = 87 mg/dl, LDL= 93 mg/dl in 2008) to 224 mg/dl (HDL=96 mg/dl, LDL=116 mg/dl) in 2009. I did a stress test last year which was normal, but only this year been feeling constantly tired w headaches/dizzy spells only difference is that I for the past 2 weeks or so I havent been able to sleep well.
Avatar n tn Wow, that's a pretty good blood pressure for that low of a heart rate! Sounds like your heart is structurally normal and efficient. I would still get worked up by a cardiologist, not just a PCP. better safe than sorry. I think the reason your PCP was OK with things is because your BP was good, if not a bit high even with the low heart rate. It becomes concerning when when you have the brady and your blood pressure is dropping.
Avatar m tn Now, if you are having symptoms and episodes where you are passing out or getting lightheaded, the thing to to would be to see your cardiologist. It is not possible to provide more information about what might be going on without further evaluation.
Avatar m tn I have had it I would ask your doctor to send you to a specialist heart doctor as they can set you up with different tests to find out what it is
Avatar f tn Please can anyone give me some insight on what to do as i am not able to take off of work to go to the doctor for anything. I am trying to feel better and it seems that i am getting worse and not better..
Avatar n tn I agree it is not too low. I went to our ER for an ear infection many many weekends ago and they asked if I jogged. NOPE. they put me on a monitor saying my heart rate was in the 40's and they just want to make sure everything is okay. I went home with a holter monitor and the results. Just a slow heart beat for no reason. I had a full cardiac workup also. I would urge you to contact someone about it just to be sure.
Avatar m tn Any medication involving the thyroid can take time to settle down and it can take a while getting the balance right. The slow heart rate is likely related because the thyroid plays a big part in blood pressure/heart rate. I would just mention this to your cardiologist, make them aware your heart rate is getting low. If your blood pressure is dropping due to this, then you will feel dizziness and shortness of breath. Maybe they should lessen your dosage.
Avatar n tn I have severe anxiety and have had this for over 7 years now. I am 27 years old male. I have been to the Er probably 50 times within the last 7 years due to anxiety attacks. I have had over 50 ekgs within the last 7 years..... I now workout every day and i try my best to deal with this. I have been taking Lexapro 10mg every day for 6 years now. Within the last few months i have been very tired all day, and i have noticed that my resting heart rate is around 48-58 bpm.

727090 tn?1268839348 I have 3 mild leaky heart valves. Im 31 yrs. old, don't smoke, don't drink and not over weight. I have been on propranolol 10mg 3xs a day for a history of high heart rate and blood pressure. Since my kids have been on christmas break, we all were staying up real late and staying in bed real late. I noticed that since all the sleeping i was doing, my heart rate has been very low, unless Iv been excercising or cleaning. When sitting my heart rate is 58-62.
Avatar m tn I have been dealing with social anxiety disorder for many years now and I am starting to come to the conclusion that it is never going to be fixed or at least kept under control. I have been on and currently am on medications to try to control my anxiety (I have tried many to find the "right" fit) but in my opinion it just doesn't seem to help. I should also mention that I have been in therapy in the past and I currently am in therapy now.
5740955 tn?1373676528 Hi there. Agree with Anniebrooke. Kids do tend to develop speech a their own rate. But having difficulty in speech can really hinder a child. They often have emotional outburst due to lack of communication or being understood and they also often have social friends. It's hard to play with another child when they can't understand you. So, I would talk to your pediatrician and get a referral to a speech pathologist to determine if there is a problem.
1755089 tn?1376053555 Thanks for your answer. I will try to get hold of my cardiologist as soon as possible or even my doctor. I would like to know how much pvc's I have now to! My main symptom is extrem fatigue, and a feeling that I'm going to pass out. I noticed that 34 pbm is mostly at when I'm at rest and 56 is when I do some work around the house or take a walk. I sometime need to stop when I do something because I'm to dissy!
3242549 tn?1349197743 As long as you don't have symptoms with your slow heart rate, it's usually not a problem. Also, I assume your heart rate increases as it's supposed to do during exercise. If not, that may be a problem. It's normal to see some throbbing on the neck/throat (the carotid artery) but you are not supposed to see any veins on your throat. If you do have dilated veins on your neck, you should see a doctor.
341655 tn?1240368839 m a little concerned about it being low, i have previously had problems with my potassium and that causing irregular HB...how low is to low? when is a good time to mentiont to my cardio the sudden drop in hr?
1303966 tn?1296740010 My heart rate went up to 167 while sitting hooked up to EEG. I felt strange, not sure if I was going to pass out. I did not. Some mild tingling and weakness while this was happening. Can the heart race during seizure?
