Avatar f tn I am wanting to regulate my cycle to have one monthly. I have tried all types of birth control beginning with nuvaring, lo estragen, and the shot and still not working. Any ideas or advice.
Avatar f tn It is not uncommon at your age for menstrual periods to be irregular, so I would wait up to about 6 weeks before being too concerned. If you continue to have irregular periods, you may need to consult with your doctor--it is possible that you could have polycystic ovary syndrome which is a catch-all term for a hormonal imbalance that causes irregular periods. Often irregular periods are treated with contraceptive pills to regulate the cycles. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Hi I had my tubes tied over 2 years ago. My periods have been pretty regular until this month. My last period was May and it didnt come on until the 2nd week in august. I did spot on 2 days in august, it was very light and I had cramps like it was about to come on. It did over a week later. So here I am 12 days in and have been passing clots constantly since it came on. I have no insurance and cant afford to go to the dr. I have only been having mild cramps on and off but no pms symptoms.

Avatar f tn Those cysts sound like a normal part of the menstrual cycle. Your period has only been irregular for two months so there's no need to worry. It's not unusual for our cycles to go a little wonky sometimes.
Avatar n tn My aunt had to take B/C pills from age 13 till 27 to regulate her cycle I was on to regulate cycle do to painful cycle that b/c pills made more regular and less painfull....
Avatar f tn With 6 HPTs negative I would doubt that you are pregnant, but the only sure way to be positive is with an HCG test at the doctors office. To regulate periods better, many young women are put on birth control pills, which isn't a bad idea at your young age to thwart off pregnancy anyways, unless you're a smoker which could then lead to chances of clot formations. Many things can change your menstrual cycle, including family history and your age. Stress is typically the major thing.
Avatar f tn im not sure if this is something to really worry about but 5 years of irregular periods is starting to bother me. i am constantly being told that it takes a few years to regulate your cycle, but its been 5 years. 5. so i am a bit worried. should i be?
Avatar n tn You could possibly be experiencing PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). This causes you to have irregular periods. It also might not be that your menstrual cycle stops, but you tend to spot very lightly. You should get checked out as soon as you can. PCOS could cause you to get cysts on your ovaries if you do not cycle right. Birth control can regulate PCOS. I had to take birth control pills up to four years.
Avatar n tn Started on birth control pills 5 months ago simply to try and regulate my periods and lessen the severity of bleeding. First I was on Levlen which worked fine for about 3 months, even managed to skip a period successfully. Then started to get breakthrough bleeding half way through cycle which was continuous for 3 weeks but some days worse than others. Went back to GP who changed me to Brevicon which is a stronger pill.

1414894 tn?1288769040 The body produces progesterone at certain times of the menstrual cycle, causing the womb lining to flourish. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the womb lining by the end of the monthly menstrual cycle, the levels of progesterone in the body decrease. This causes the body to shed the womb lining (a menstrual ‘period’). If a fertilized egg successfully attaches to the womb lining by the end of the monthly cycle, progesterone levels in the body remain high.
Avatar f tn Hello, Femitrone and morning after pill when taken together can cause withdrawal bleeding and irregular menstrual cycle and it should not interfere with the working of the emergency contraceptive pill. However keep a check on your periods. If you miss them then do a urine for pregnancy test after 1 week of your menstrual cycle. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn The only reason we recommend the three month waiting period is to allow you to figure out what your natural cycle is going to be and make timing easier. Many many babies are conceived by women who are still taking their pills and there are no known birth defects caused by this. About your periods, if you went on the pill to regulate them, then it is likely that they will be irregular when they start again.
Avatar f tn Certainly, I understand that you're facing some concerns about your menstrual cycle, particularly the recent delays in your periods. It's natural to have questions, especially when you've always had a regular cycle. Here are some key points to consider: Why Your Period Might Be Delayed Stress: Emotional or physical stress can significantly impact your menstrual cycle. Stress hormones can interfere with the hormones that regulate your period, causing delays.
Avatar f tn I know that doctors recommend to wait 2 years between each child and to take birth control pills to regulate the menstrual cycle, but we want our kids as close in age as possible and I just can't bring myself to take the pills. I feel like every day I take another is a day that I could be getting pregnant. I also understand that it can take a healthy couple up to 2 years to conceive, but we are growing impatient. Is there any other way to fix my problem (as opposed to birth control)?
Avatar n tn Since last 2 years I have very irregular cycle sometimes menstruation is 6 months later. Would DHEA help me to regain my cycle and ovulation. If yes what dose. Hopeful.
Avatar f tn Is this suppose to happen, I thought the pill was supposed to also regulate your period. I used to have, very irregular periods, sometimes a 4 month gap and then 5, and then 3 months again. It always use to change. Me and my boyfriend don't use any other type of back-up method, only the pill. I always take it on time, I haven't missed one. The past few days I've had cramping and discharge, which usually happens before my periods. What could this mean?
Avatar n tn m definitely not pregnant (still a virgin) and understand that this could be because my body may be trying to regulate itself. Just wanted to ask if there's anyone else out there that experiences extremely abnormal cycles and if it's normal to be irregular even at the age of 20?
Avatar f tn After the start of periods, it may take up to 3 years for a girl to get a very regular cycle. So, it is normal to miss periods. Also the routine the girl maintains during this time, her diet and family history of settling into a regular cycle of periods plays an important role. Stress both physical and mental, irregular sleeping hours and diet poor in nutrition can all cause the periods to become irregular in a girl who started her periods less than 3 years ago.
