Avatar n tn My wife has been experiencing irregular menstrual cycle for the last 06 months. She is 34 year old. After having checked with doctor and subsequent test, she found thyroid problem. She started taking medicines as per dr prescription for the last 5 days. She was expecting her periods on Dec 20 this time but she started light spoting from Jan 03. After 03 - 04 days she started heavy bleeding with medium size blood clots. I am worried and seek advise. Thanks & Regards.
Avatar f tn It is not uncommon at your age for menstrual periods to be irregular, so I would wait up to about 6 weeks before being too concerned. If you continue to have irregular periods, you may need to consult with your doctor--it is possible that you could have polycystic ovary syndrome which is a catch-all term for a hormonal imbalance that causes irregular periods. Often irregular periods are treated with contraceptive pills to regulate the cycles. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Hello, Menstrual cycles are considered normal from 21 to 35 days. However stress can also make periods irregular. Other causes of irregular periods could be due to hormonal imbalance, stress, chronic illness, polycystic ovarian disease, thyroid gland disorders or diseases, pituitary gland tumors or cyst, galactorrhea, prolactinomas etc. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.

Avatar f tn Hello, Femitrone and morning after pill when taken together can cause withdrawal bleeding and irregular menstrual cycle and it should not interfere with the working of the emergency contraceptive pill. However keep a check on your periods. If you miss them then do a urine for pregnancy test after 1 week of your menstrual cycle. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Those cysts sound like a normal part of the menstrual cycle. Your period has only been irregular for two months so there's no need to worry. It's not unusual for our cycles to go a little wonky sometimes.
Avatar f tn I am sixteen years old and my period first came when i was 11. My periods have always varied. There are times when i go 3-4 months without at period and then whenever it does come it is heavy and contains blood clots. But there are also times when i have skipped 3 months and have had an extremely light cycle. I rarely get periods once a month (I actually don't think i ever have had that happen before).
Avatar n tn I would also like to add that most women over the age of 45 who receive chemotherapy such as yours, will become amenorrheic (meaning that menstrual periods will stop). For many, this cessation of menstrual periods will represent permanent menopause but a minority will have return of menstruation either regular or irregular in the future.I have read that some women restarted menstruation 2 years or more after completing Chemotherapy.
Avatar f tn Hi, Are your periods typically on time, or are they irregular? If your periods are usually on time, you should take a pregnancy test. Keep in mind, that irregular periods aren't uncommon for young women. Since it's been nearly two years since your last Depo injection, your menstrual cycle should be back to a regular schedule by now. If you continue to miss periods, you could always speak with your gynecologist about your concerns.

Avatar f tn If you are having irregular periods, and I presume that you have been logging your menstrual cycles, you need to make an appointment and see your doctor. There are many reasons for having irregular periods. This could be from you not eating properly, having anaemia, having hormonal problems, having polycystic ovaries and so on. You do not say how old you are. Women over the age of around 40 can start the change of life. It is still possible to conceive, but more difficult.
