Common Questions and Answers about How quickly does neupogen work

neupogen

Avatar m tn Neup works for the most part all of the time, however is it your ANC (absolute neutrophils) that usually would dictate whether neup is need or not. best ..
1414174 tn?1304680526 I suppose I was focused on my own experience which was really not relevant here. For people who have their anc drop quickly early in tx and who need neupogen the fluctuations between neupogen and ifn injections can sometimes be pretty extreme, I know that mine were, but perhaps that is the exception rather then the rule. I've got to be careful in the future.
Avatar m tn t know if it would drop that quickly. I do my interferon shot on Friday eve and cbc and neupogen shot on Monday. Mondays ANC levels are always much lower than Thursday's cbc. If possible, maybe you could do the cbc the day prior to the interferon shot to see the difference. Smart move on reducing to a 40 hr week since rest may become more important as you get further into trt.
Avatar m tn I have been lucky and have had everything paid for by work-comp since I contracted this by a needle stick at work, but I know how expensive they are I would like to donate them to anyone who is strugling with paying. I have neupo, procrit, and peg-interferon. I will ship it to anyone who needs it.
1501377 tn?1291508678 I started Neupogen about midway (week 12) when my ANC hit .350. I did 4 weekly shots of the prefilled 300s. Weekly CBCs showed that the levels went way up quickly, but also fell off quickly. I'd hit 1.800-2.100, but then be back below .500 on the cusp of the next shot. So, we switched to twice-weekly shots of half doses. Instead of factory-filled 300s, my provider compounding pharmacy makes up 150s and I pick those up, three at a time.
Avatar f tn i think i need procrit and neupogen for low red and white blood count.im so tired, out of breath and weak.what does anyone have to think about my labs ? thankyou for any inputs.also how low do these levels im listing have to go till Dr puts you on rescue drugs ? am i anemic from drugs yet ? WBC 2.2 ALERT norm 4.0- 10.5 RBC 3.68 LOW norm 3.80- 5.10 hemoglobin 11.9 norm 11.5- 15.0 hematocrit 33.8 LOW norm 34.0- 44.0 RDW 15.2 HIGH norm 11.7- 15.
Avatar f tn For me, Neupogen was significantly milder. As Linda pointed out, Neulasta is longer lasting, Neupogen requires more shots. Neulasta is much more expensive, if that's a consideration. Even with the more frequent Neupogen, I found that that Neupogen at $400 each is a better bargain than Neulasta at $3000 each. (these amounts are based on what hematologist billed insurance, not my out of pocket). Your mileage may vary.
Avatar m tn Generally your liver does not have nerves inside of it to feel any pain - which is why the biopsy does not hurt. However there are people who believe the shrinking of the capsule around the liver as the inflammation is going down can cause pain. I'm not sure how true that is or not.
Avatar m tn 900 isn't bad, mine went 700 in my 4th week and i'm in my 45th already!
547836 tn?1302832832 I hated neupogen. My advice is to stay off it as long as possible. Good luck.
Avatar f tn t (me not listen - what a revelation) because I knew I was getting the Neup tomorrow. About how long does it take to raise the whites? I will go for another CBC on Thursday so if I inject tomorrow will it work that fast? ANC has been averaging around mid 4 to 6. You would think the docs office would have gone over this with me but they didn't. If anyone would can give me a heads up I would certainly appreciate it.
Avatar f tn 5 and she probably did suggest Neupogen. Sounds to me like he needs both and pretty darn quickly. She seems to be of the opinion that a transfusion will be needed for the low hemoglobin. At 7.3 he must really be dragging. Mine has never gotten that low but a lot of folks are experiencing this on the triple. So how is this going to work out? You said the GI is not going to reduce ribavirin doseage. I think the insurance company will get in the middle of this -- they sure did with me.
Avatar m tn I thought the nurse told me this is a growth hormone, I some how associated that with steroids! How often does it need to be monitored? Also I thought she told me that I would take it once a week probably for a while and maybe for all of tx. Frigole mentioned taking it everyday for a few days.
163305 tn?1333668571 In most people the ANC responds very quickly to the neupogen, but will taper back down during the following days. Frequent CBC checks might be needed to determine the amount needed per week . Although I've read on this forum to avoid the neupogen with 24 hrs of the interferon shot, I don't know if I've ever seen a reference to confirm that.
Avatar n tn I had itching & rashes which last for not more than 30 min and comes only once in a day, after 3-4 days of stopping neupogen. It's very mild and goes away quickly. Should I consult to doctor or it will goes away by time. Need your suggestions.
144210 tn?1273088782 I am putting that aspect of it to bed. I hope the mushrooms work and work quickly! --------------------------------------------------- If the astronauts reenter the atmosphere too steep, they burn up.... too shallow and they skip off into space.... "Flight, 13 is coming in too shallow,...should we tell em?" "Is there anything they can do about it?" "Negative flight." "Then they don't need to know do they!?" "copy that flight...
691935 tn?1421027090 as usual - good info. It gives me food for thought. Thanks to all!
Avatar m tn It amazes me how doctors jump at the chance to use neupogen when most of the times its not even needed. Yet drag their feet until a BT before the use of procrit.
163305 tn?1333668571 Babe it's been so long since I've seen you I called you Orphan Hawk in a post earlier :O It's always great to see you even if I"m a dreadful typist ;)
1986676 tn?1329862471 Sorry to hear the relatives are continuing to their antics. Hope you are better able to tolerate this stuff after trt when your energy returns. Regarding the neupogen - I recall reading that their should be at least a 24 hr separation between the interferon and neupogen. I'll post a link if I can locate one. If you google neupogen, interferon 24 hours, you'll come up with several link that discuss this, several on MH. I was on neupogen starting at week 8 of 48, 2x per wk.
