ll let white counts drop before an intervention of either a rescue drug or dosage reduction. Neupogen acts fast but only once you have it in hand and can actually inject it so you'd want to get the "paperwork" started early enough to introduce it in a timely manner if it's a "go". Good luck.

t (me not listen - what a revelation) because I knew I was getting the Neup tomorrow. About how long does it take to raise the whites? I will go for another CBC on Thursday so if I inject tomorrow will it work that fast? ANC has been averaging around mid 4 to 6. You would think the docs office would have gone over this with me but they didn't. If anyone would can give me a heads up I would certainly appreciate it.

Does anyone have info on the neupogen shot? Have you had to have the injections due to low neutrophils from HepC treatement? Do yiu usually have to continue the shots for the remainder of tx or do they go back up and stay there???

Neup works for the most part all of the time,however is it your ANC (absolute neutrophils) that usually would dictate whether neup is need or not. best ..

So the doc finally agreed to a neupogen shot, after many delayed shots of pegasys. I was supposed to do a shot tuesday, however got bloodwork done today and anc is 620, Doc says to take neupogen tonight (I did, the neupogen is 300mcg, im ~130lbs) and get more bloodwork done on thursday, and then he'll call friday with whether or not to take the shot or not. So here I am, waiting, again. Arggg!

i think i need procrit and neupogen for low red and white blood count.im so tired,out of breath and weak.what does anyone have to think about my labs ? thankyou for any inputs.also how low do these levels im listing have to go till Dr puts you on rescue drugs ? am i anemic from drugs yet ? my wbc dropped fast also. I was almost taken off tx but managed to stick it out. It was like a roller coaster ride.

I find that really odd - that you are having a reaction to neupogen 16 days after the shot. I believe neupogen is fast acting and does not stay in the system very long. Many cancer patients receive several shots, days in a row, to bring up the WBC levels.

What proof does he have you wont clear?...does he have stats to back up his statement,does this mean you have to undected by 12 weeks to have a chance at SVR?..this is what the doc is thinking?

I have 5 days till my due date and baby doesnt seem to want to come any time soon. The doctor said is I went to 41 weeks they would probably induce me. How exactly does that work? I thought it was just some kind of medicine they gave you through an IV but a friend said something about them sticking a needle up there. I never heard that they would conteract one another and do not see how they could since rescue meds like Neupogen and Epoegen are intended to stimulate blood cell production which are produced differntly within our bodies and Interferon is also naturaly produced in our bodies.

Hi folks! OK, I have a question. I am probably going to be starting on Procrit soon. My Hg. actually came up a little bit this week. I'm back up to 9.8. I was on vacation so I felt pretty good all week. Today I repeated an Iron profile and a Ferritin level. The Iron profile was normal. My Iron was elevated before I started treatment back in Feb. My Ferritin level is now up to 430, normal being 23-307. That was normal before I started treatment.

Being a geno 2 and und at week 4 i would really push against either stoping or dose reduction. Sense your being tx at a teaching hospital is there any way your doctor could provide you with at lease one shot to hold you over. As for your platelets i would love to see those numbers.
