Was watching one of those sort of horridly-fascinating shows last night on TV that is about hoarders, except this one is about pet hoarders. They visited a couple's house who had 24 cats. The vet who was talking to the couple and she went into the room where the catboxes were, and commented on the smell, and she had handheld meter that she set down on the floor. It measured ammonia in the air.
So.... my husband's parents are hoarders and I've never been to their house but our daughter has. She's 3 years old. We have a little boy on the way and I just don't know if I want my kids going over there especially if I'm not allowed to.. Idk how bad the situation is and I know my husband is embarrassed. I've never talked to my in laws about it. They make me uncomfortable as is. I have been distant from them for the last couple months.
But me I would just go to a family members and stay there for a bit. Hoarders have a weird attachment to their items.
I know exactly how you feel. The only rooms that aren't messy at my place are the bathrooms & the babys room lol! I work full time & when i get home I'm like why bother?.. Hopefully i get a day or two cleaning spurt & get it done!
No groups have been suggested to me or offered. I feel out in left field all alone. Are there any hoarders in this company, and what are they doing to deal with it?
Anyone ever let their dog (we have 5, so namely the Alpha) hang out inside your house during the birth? I am only 20+6 but I'm thinking ahead. I wonder if letting my alpha female hang out inside will help the other dogsbe okay with baby... You know? Since how she feels kind of determines how the others feel/react.
We have 3 indoor dogs, and 2 outdoor dogs (dont worry, we have acreage, we're not just dog hoarders... Lol people just dump em out here and three are rescues...
Holy cow of course this relationship doesn't feel good. That feeling is your inner voice telling you to leave--so listen! A hoarder experiences a great amount of anxiety when faced with the decision to throw something away. They are usually very sentimental persons, and like to keep everything to hold on the memory. Persons who are slobs are just plain lazy and can't be bothered to clean up or throw anything out. Although I think that a lot of hoarders are slobs in some ways as well.
Unless it has major sentimental value of course. But hoarders can have irrational sentiment to junk they will get touchy. You'll need a clutter free home that's easy to keep nice once you have little one to look after. Don't feel bad its just instinct.
What is it with mother in laws nowadays. Sheesh like where's the respect and space. Their sons are no longer a babies. My in laws are hoarders so that kind of makes me feel like I can't get close to them because I've never been allowed over to their house.
While he was in the rehab place, my family and I cleaned his house. It was like an episode of hoarders. We threw away empty gallon bottles of gin, countless bags of cans/bottles of beer and wine.
He was in the rehab facility for 4 months. He regained some strength but still wasn’t doing well. When he was discharged, we brought him home with care. We made the decision to put him with hospice and hospice agreed that his medical condition made it probable that he would die within six months.
I agree with you 100%. My Mother was brought up in the 20's & 30's and there was great poverty and times were very hard for them but they were kept clean & neat and their home was humble but my Grandparents kept their home spotless.
The couple I mentioned are terrible hoarders and only have a small one bedroom flat. I don't think this has helped matters but seriously believe the mess is so bad now they just don't know where to start and so it gets worse and worse.
The house is never clean. They are hoarders I swear. The 17 month old had batteries in his mouth one day. They let them run into the other room and say, 'he will be fine' then wonder why he gets into stuff. I've tried explaining to hubby but he gets angry at me and says I'm over reacting and they're fine. I am soo pissed right now.
and will see what we can do. Yes it is sad. We also separated other cats. We are not cat hoarders, just to be clear. We are now just going to foster a mama cat and her kittens. She had them next door and then moved them to our yard. She seemed to be an indoor cat at one time (that will be another question separate). Anyway, we let them live in the basement. The kittens are starting to get used to coming around us a little. They are not older than 7 weeks probably.
I live in an family of drunks and hoarders and emotional abusers.I grew up scared of my dad because when he got drunk he would get violent.I didn't trust my mom because I couldn't talk to her about things I should be able to.she laughed in my face when I asked her to get me a bra because kids are making fun of me.I am considering cutting them off and raising it with the father but if we both have full time jobs I'll have to rely on someone to help me take care of the baby.
I have been dealing with this so long my place looks like it should be on hoarders, my fridge is empty, the place just looks like what my mind feels like.
I thought about hiring a cleaning service just to get it clean so it would feel good, but I am too embarrassed plus I dont want them to see any pill bottles I dont know about.
