Common Questions and Answers about Hoarders gas bubble

Avatar f tn I recently had a retinal detachment fixed. I now have a gas bubble. I keep hearing different lengths of time until the bubble disappears. Why does it disappear for some in 3 weeks and others 8 weeks. I'm scheduled to fly in a few weeks and wondering what the odds are of my going on the trip.
Avatar n tn My vision is still blurred and I still have the gas bubble in my visiion. Now the gas bubble seems to have formed a smaller bubble that is attached. Since no one has told me how this bubble will be reabsorbed, I don't know if this is normal or what to expect. Also, I am now told I have a cataract on that eye.
Avatar f tn I am not seeing anymore gas bubble, the bubble was completly gone after 8 weeks.Sometimes I am still able to see tiny black dots that come and go away.My question is,are this black dots leftover gas bubbles or vitreous floaters.I had a vitrectomy and a buckle done.I went to my surgeon and said that bubble is gone, but somehow im not convince. My job requires flying..
Avatar m tn I was wondering how long does it take for t to go away. I'm traveling soon and going up into high altitude. Its 10 weeks after my surgery. My gas bubble is very small, it's only visual on when I'm laying down facing the ceiling. There are multiple tiny has bubbles. Am I safe for traveling?
Avatar n tn my mother got surgey a month ago.she has a gas bubble in her eye.how long would it take before vision come back.
Avatar m tn At age 46, Post vitrectomy and buckle, my gas bubble lasted nearly 12 weeks - it was c3f8 gas. My cataract was noted to be developing shortly after my vitrectomy (and scleral buckle) surgery. I was warned to expect a cataract "soon" after, but that was very fast apparently The buckle also increased my myopia.
Avatar n tn Is it possible to displace or knock out a gas bubble? I had a vitrectomy 3 days ago, just drying my hair and knocked eye - not a hard knock - under lower lashes. Highly myopic so not sure if I've seen the bubble in my eye at all, let alone now. What does it look like? State of panic.
Avatar m tn My retinal detachment occurred nov 6 I have a huge gas bubble but that was at the bottom of my eye...I kept my head tilted since nov 6 this weekend it looks like it shifted to to the top too....now my vision is worse...is thre bubble dissipating?
Avatar n tn I had a scleral buckle and C3F8 gas bubble right eye inferior retina detachment done exactly 28 days or four weeks ago. The gas bubble is about 40% according to my retina specialist yesterday. I can see the gas-water line which shimmers when I move my head. I read somewhere that it can take 5-8 weeks to fully reabsorb so I'll have to wait for another few weeks more. I don't have headaches anymore and I have returned to work as a GP.
5752933 tn?1383533437 Omg I don't know what about pregnancy makes me have such bad gas but it's terrible! My husband keeps laughing so hard at how big they are but I can't help it!
Avatar n tn No there is nothing you can do to make it go away faster. Do confirm with your surgeon that no "silicon oil" was put in the eye because that doesn't disolve. How long it takes for all the gas goes away depends on has much gas, what kind of gas, and your eye's ability to absorb the gas.
Avatar n tn I am now just waiting for the gas bubble to dissolve so I get the lens replaced. I am seeing the specialist on 3/24 but my retina specialist wants the bubble to be dissolved by then. If it's not, he said I would have to get a needle in my eye to insert air or something like that to get the bubble to dissolve faster. Is there anything I can do to make it dissolve faster? Any foods to eat, or maybe even avoid?
Avatar f tn I had a vitrectomy almost two weeks ago and have a gas bubble to reattach my retina. Iwas just wondering what the normal vision with the gas bubble is like...I can kinda see thorugh it, but it looks like I'm under water...it also seems like my vision moves...is that because the bubble is moving? I can see light, and colors, and the closer something is to my face, the better I can see it. Objects that are farther away are hard to make out.
Avatar m tn Does anyone knows does a gas bubble causes problems to your eye ? Does laying face too long causes problem ? On the OCT scan i notice the bubble and wondering is did it causes problem or the OCT scan cannot see through the bubble.
Avatar f tn 11 days ago I had surgery for a macular hole including membrane peeling and vitrectomy. As I was not sure if I could maintain face down positioning due to neck issues, the surgeon placed a large, longer acting C3F8 gas bubble in my eye. It seems to me that this "longer acting" gas bubble is dissipating quickly as it is already at the halfway point in my eye instead of in the upper quadrant.
Avatar m tn People with a gas bubble in the eye may not fly or go to high altitudes until the gas bubble dissolves. This most often happens within a few weeks." http://www.empowher.com/community/ask/after-surgery-detached-retina-how-long-do-you-wait-until-you-can-fly-does-flight-durat "This gas bubble will go away within 4-8 weeks.
Avatar n tn Hello, An epiretinal membrane is usually treated with a vitrectomy surgery. Depending on the type of surgery, instructions would change. If the vitrectomy involves placing of a gas bubble inside your mother's eye, she will be required to maintain a particular position of her head. This could either be looking straight downwards or lying on one side. This is important to minimise the movement of the gas bubble and thus preventing damage to the eye.
Avatar n tn My husband had the gas bubble procedure a few days ago. How long does it take for the gas bubble to be dissolved? Can somebody tell me if ater it dissolves, your sight is back to normal again? This discussion is related to Gas Bubble Procedure.
Avatar f tn I was getting the same a few days ago but wondering if it could be gas? I feel it when sitting upright. Ive also been feeling some wriggling/worm walk inside belly but not sure if its just blood vessels working hard. 14 wks today.
Avatar m tn The third ppd was then required and a replenishment of the gas bubble. Too much gas was injected and I had to return 2 hours later to have some gas bled off to relive the pressure. Now the gas bubble has completely dissolved and the retina surgeon used a laser on the eye to correct the vision. The result of these surgeries have left me with blurry vision and everything I see is much smaller looking than it is. Is there any hope for my vision to ever be clear and not seeing smaller?
Avatar n tn How long the gas bubble lasts depends on the type of gas put in (e.g. air vs SF6), the amount put in, where put in (front or back of eye) and how quickly its absorbed and whether oil also put in which is not disolved but people often can see gas bubbles several months after surgery.
Avatar n tn the first was pretty severe, but i had the gas bubble and it was amazing that i could see from the inside the bubble become smaller. it is frightening though, but i noticed it gradually settled to the bottom, also after 6 weeks i still had small amount of bubble. so maybe it is good sign that it is starting to dissolve. good luck!
Avatar f tn what is the normal time for the gas bubble to be in the eye after retinal detachment surgery? I have the bubble almost 2 months now, and my Dr. said my retina has healed. also, is occasional pain in the eye normal after surgery? i have slight pain, but i'm not supposed to "feel" the eye anymore... tip for Retinal D. REST a lot after surgery, even if someone is telling you it's ok to do this and that... thanks you all!!
Avatar n tn Gas not leave ‘stains’. Could still be gas if SF6 was used.
Avatar n tn We have plans to fly on Sept 10 for 4 hours. The doctor says the bubble should be gone by then. Have you ever heard of a gas bubble staying longer than 10 weeks? I do not want to fly if there is any danger with this eye. What is your educated opinion? I have gone off the steroid drops, only to experience severe pain and redness in retina detached eye. Is it safe to be on steroid drops for over two months?
Avatar m tn I had a vitrectomy surgery for a detached retina just over 10 weeks ago. The bubble gradually dissolved like a curtain being lowered across my field of vision. But it remains and now appears as a transparent disc with dark edges. I can see through the disc but the vision is distorted. Around the disc I can see normally but the vision is not as good as it used to be and there is a shimmering, almost like looking through cellophane. The disc replaced the current about 10 days ago.
