I have dry gangrene on my right great toe. what is the best way to treat this? One dr. says let it dry up and come
off itself. Other dr says amputation.I've had the dry hard place over most of my toe about 6 months.
My dad (65yrs) has been diagnosed with gangrene on the left foot about 3 months ago. His leg was subsequently amputated about 2 weeks ago. the right foot toes are also now getting septic. He is very week and does not have apetite. What can i do for him?

She now has gangrene on her foot (two toes black), there is also a wound on her leg with liquid (wet gangrene???) She is getting antibiotic injections and painkiller injections from a doctor who comes to her home. She is in a different country, however, and medical care is poor. They do have an appointment to see a doctor in 4 days to discuss options but she refuses to get an amputation if that's suggested.

yes, it would would be a very painful death from gangrene infection. There are lots of people that have a great life that have lost limbs. look at the survivors of the Boston marathon bombing. Its not the end to loose a limb... dieing is the end.
When a person has gangrene vin their toes,is it possible for the doctor to order a CT-scan,or a MRI to see how far the gangrene has traveled so they will know how far to cut.
Was watching one of those sort of horridly-fascinating shows last night on TV that is about hoarders, except this one is about pet hoarders. They visited a couple's house who had 24 cats. The vet who was talking to the couple and she went into the room where the catboxes were, and commented on the smell, and she had handheld meter that she set down on the floor. It measured ammonia in the air.
So.... my husband's parents are hoarders and I've never been to their house but our daughter has. She's 3 years old. We have a little boy on the way and I just don't know if I want my kids going over there especially if I'm not allowed to.. Idk how bad the situation is and I know my husband is embarrassed. I've never talked to my in laws about it. They make me uncomfortable as is. I have been distant from them for the last couple months.
2009 and with my first I got gangrene during a c-section and the doctor told me it was a miracle I conceived my second child because of all the scar tissue. Is it possible the scar tissue from both the gangrene and tubals are keeping me from conceiving? ? My husband and I really want to have another child.

Same story with additional info - large IV doses of IV antibiotics for gangrene - like vancomycin - possibly exiting from the systrm.
But me I would just go to a family members and stay there for a bit. Hoarders have a weird attachment to their items.
My dad 71, had gangrene on his left foot 4 years ago and had his leg amputated below the knee. 2 years later he got gangrene on his right foot, a few of his toes have fallen off and now it looks like it is slowly spreading up (he has blood sores going up his leg, right below his knee). He refused amputation. About a month and a half ago he had a heart attack. They did heart catheter and found that he had one artery 100% blocked & the others were st 90% & 80%.
This could be due to local skin infection with fluid oozing out. If not treated properly can affect whole limb and cause gangrene even. Especially, people with diabetes are more prone to it.
The other possibility is that you have pitting edema—a dent appears on pressing the swollen foot and leg. This can happen due to heart, liver and kidney causes—again dangerous. The skin can crack and fluid ooze out.
Please consult your PCP for immediate primary examination followed by proper referral.
I know exactly how you feel. The only rooms that aren't messy at my place are the bathrooms & the babys room lol! I work full time & when i get home I'm like why bother?.. Hopefully i get a day or two cleaning spurt & get it done!
The vet operated inmediately and had to remove a section that was developing gangrene. He pulled through but any delays would have resulted in his death. Please make sure the vet checks this out.
She should see her gastro doctor ASAP. If it's another obstruction and not taken care of...that part of the intestine can die and gangrene will set in. If she's having pain as severe as 10.....I think a trip to the ER is best.
